OM SYSTEM telephoto lens comparison | What's the best telephoto lens for you?
Claire and Clare discuss the versatile use of telephoto lenses, typically known for wildlife and bird photography, but also effective in landscapes and close-up shots of small subjects like butterflies. They introduce three telephoto zoom lenses: 100-400mm, 150-600mm, and 150-400mm. Each lens offers specific advantages such as close focus distances, lightweight design, and built-in features like teleconverters and constant apertures. Watch the video to learn more about their common features and their differences. Enjoy!

    Gandalf "The Great White Wizard" (150-400 f/4.5) rules them all. I will be buried with that lens. ps: I am starting a campaign to call that lens "Gandalf." Canon has the "Big Whites" and Sony Nikon have similar nicknames, So OMS should have one too. I got into OMS due to the weight and size of Canon Big Whites, and have found the 150-400 f/4.5 equal (or better) in every respect.

    Explanation of focus stacking using strobe (42:28/1:12:02), It's very useful and easy to understand. thank you. It is also useful to use only one strobe during focus stacking, but As you know, it is also useful to use multiple strobes at the same time. focus stacking, using multiple strobes at the same time, Front light, back light, side light etc. You can enjoy various useful writing. . I used multiple strobes for Focus Stacking of EM1MK2, It was very convenient to perform high-speed continuous flashing. However, after replacing with OM1MK2 Strobe lighting made with EM1MK2, I couldn't do it anymore, I'm in a lot of trouble. I would appreciate any advice etc. Details are below. Thank you for your support. The EM1MK2's strobe light during focus stacking was a high-speed continuous light of about 10 shots per second, which was very convenient. However, the OM1MK2's strobe light during focus stacking is a slow intermittent light of about 1 shot per second, which is very inconvenient. The focus stacking conditions for the EM1MK2 and OM1MK2 are, for example, "15 shots, focus step 2.0 seconds charging time," the commander is "Godox Xpro-o (light output 1/128 manual)," and several slave strobes are "Godox TT350-o, V850ⅲ-o, TT600, etc.", which were wirelessly fired continuously at high speed during focus stacking. I have experimented many times, and when I set a strobe and other equipment on the EM1MK2 and take focus stacking shots under the above shooting conditions, it fires continuously at a high speed of about 10 shots per second. However, when I set this on the OM1MK2 and take focus stacking shots, it fires intermittently at a slow speed of about 1 shot per second, which is very inconvenient. As a test, I removed the commander (Xpro-o) attached to the OM1MK2's hot shoe, attached a TT350-o or V850ⅲ-o (Li-ion) and took focus stacking shots in manual mode with a light output of 1/128, and with the above settings it fired continuously at a high speed of about 10 frames per second. Based on these results, I do not think the strobe is the cause of the problem. I would appreciate any advice on focus stacking with strobe firing on the OM1MK2. Thank you in advance.

      Hi Flying Dutchman and thank you, that's very kind of you to say. No I haven't found any problems in low light situations, noise has been much improved at higher ISO's and the free OM Workspace deals with most problems. • @Bunnyisms
      @Bunnyisms Před 13 dny

      Your maximum magnification on that lens is 0.11 which means basically only 1/10 of life size. Your minimum focus distance is 20cm. This means that you can get close, but unlike a macro lens which can get to at least 1/1 life size magnification, you won't get anywhere close to the magnification of a true macro lens. Try it close up though, it is fun, but don't expect anything like what you will get out of a true macro lens. The effect is unique, but small things will remain relatively tiny compared to a true macro

    Howdy to everyone, sorry I tried the Live Chat but it failed so am really hoping that someone can answer in the comments section. I know that these often get ignored though. I have the OM1 MKii and have 100-400 f5-6.3, I know much of this will be user error but PLEASE can someone tell me how to set up the camera/lens to get images that are sharp? This is for bird/wildlife photography in the UK. I have tried everything but there are many conflicts about shutter speed/ISO etching set high or low. I have the IS Lens ON and IBIS is Auto. I am aware that low light is a limiting factor too. OK thank you, ever hopeful.

      I too have the same camera and lens and have the same issue.

    • @Bunnyisms
      @Bunnyisms Před 13 dny

      One of your biggest factors with the long lenses is shutter speed. Aim for a shutter speed that is at minimum the focal length of your lens. For example, if you are on the 400mm focal length on the lens, set your shutter to at least 1/400. This should be your minimum shutter speed. If your shutter speed is too low you will get a lot of camera shake. The IBIS helps, but in practice, I find that these minimums give me the best results. Your lens has a variable aperture, so keep in mind that even if you are shooting wide open, as you zoom in, you will need to bump your ISO up and bump up your shutter speed if you are still getting camera shake. The next important thing for the long lenses is that if you use lens filters, they need to be absolutely flat and parallel. At minimum, get a Nikon, B+W MRC Master, or Olympus filter. Many filters, including Hoyas are not completely flat and parallel and they cause your lens to produce blurry pictures. With telephotos, I only use these three brands, but mostly Nikon or B+W. Even with my extremely long telephotos, they hold up well and give me sharp pictures. My very last is to make sure your autofocus settings are correct. Check your focus point locations. I typically use AF-S, but you can also use AF-C. You can also put the lens in manual focus mode and use the magnify function to check and make sure that your lens is capable of focusing properly

      @@Bunnyisms hey thank you very much for answering, and in fact clearing up another question I had. I haven't put any lens protectors on any of my lenses yet because I was concerned I would compromise the quality. That said I am paranoid about damaging the front glass even though I use the hood. On the macro 90mm though the hood isn't used as it gets too close to subject/vegetation etc. As regards the AF, I have it set on AF-C+MF I am off out today to try for better results with your tips. I have never used such high ISO's before, currently it's throwing my head into a spin. Anyway, onwards and upwards. Thanks again.

    Ich würde schon die Hintergrundmusik (und die künstlich eingefügten Vogelgeräusche) etwas lauter machen, damit man den Text noch schlechter versteht! Eine derartige Unsitte und ein absolut lächerlicher Modetrend, der Videos um keinen Deut besser macht. Inhaltlich ansonsten guter Beitrag. Warum die Kollegin mit ihren "denglish" Floskeln so herumwirft erschließt sich mir auch nicht. Mittlerweile fotografiert man ja nicht mehr, sondern "shootet" nur mehr. Find' ich eher lächerlich.

    Bonsoir, pour les photos de rue , est ce que le filtre nd est intéressant (vous parlez de GND, mais je n'ai pas l'OM1 mark 2 )? Merci pour ce cours en tout cas. Sophie

      Bonjour Madame Prevot. Merci de votre message. Le filtre ND Live de votre OM-1 peut être intéressant également en photographie de rue, pour réduire votre vitesse d'obturation en plein jour. Vous allez alors pouvoir réaliser des images avec des effets de "mouvements fantômes" sur les passants. On peut parfois en fonction de votre vitesse les rendre "invisibles". Bien cordialement. Thierry

      Pour ma part j'utilise le filtre ND en photo de rue pour faire des effets de flous sur les personnes ou les voitures en mouvement . A vous de trouver différents champs d'application pour ce filtre. Bonne photos!
