The game itself has an extremely competitive tutorial section that will walk you through the setup and the complete operation of each train as they are all very different to each other. What train are you using?

It may have been a German train which in hindsight was not a great choice what would you recommend as an easy-ish beginner train? I got the special edition 🤷‍♂️

Ah right well I'm not that well up on the continental trains, but it could be that you may have knocked the throttle in too neutral. If you're using a controller, tap up or down on your D pad . There are 3 settings on the throttle 1 Neutral 2 Forward 3 Reverse I did this a lot when I first started playing. Well as for train dlc I would recommend the Glossop Line it's a short run from Manchester Piccadilly to Glossop about a 35 min run each way and the train that comes with the dlc is the 323 in the northern Livery.
