Hey guys, welcome to the channel of an average cyclist/new dad that is seeing his relationship with cycling shift.

Doing indoors again and tried mywhoosh and i liked it. Not gonna pay for something that im gonna use for like 2-3x a week and i only need something to spin down on rainy days. Also i dont even look at the game itself im watching netflix or youtube when indoors lol So mywhoosh being free is a win for me :)
I'm sick and tired of the "sportswashing" narrative. Arabs deserve at least sliver of the slack given to the Europeans. I mean, why should we cry "sportswashing" whenever anything good comes out of the Arab Peninsula when the entire fucking European continent is able to wash away CENTURIES of colonialism, racial based slavery, human rights violations and war crimes? I mean, how long ago was that?
Indievelo is hands down the best indoors cycling app at the moment, be it racing or group riding! It's physics engine blows Zwift and other away!
For racing, Zwift can not be beaten. Indievelo is great (ugly and desolate) but no strava kind of kills all the fun of doing your best. Rouvy is an Atari version of zwift. (lol). I get tired of seeing traffic and pretty blah scenic rides. Even though it is authentic, I prefer zwift climb portals (yes, I said I disliked it at first). None of them are 100% worth the cost. But neither are groceries and gas.
A video explaining how the MyWoosh link app works would be very useful. I'm not able to pair it with my sessions and can't figure how to do it. Riding without the phone to choose the turns and all the other stuff can be very uncomfortable...
You're not missing anything when it comes to LA. Its complete trash.
Sadly I have heard this from others too
Fun, well developed monologue. Good stuff.
Thank you my friend 🤙
You should try my out of the road get out of jail drink. Full fat coke and lucozade half and half in a bottle. Not sure if you can get lucozade is oz. It’s banging
Oh, we can get it. You’d be surprised what you can get in this backwater. Sounds like a full blown nitro glycerine in a bottle
@@burgess_and_his_bike 😂😂 it’s fantastic. It’s got me out of trouble way too many times
I think this is probably ideal for the Europeans- I live in the USA CST time so the Sunday race club is 02:45 a.m. on Monday morning. Ummmm no. I was really stoked to see they finally added running which was why I was holding back from the Zwift switch- but then I looked closer at the Sunday race club offering and the times are not good for where I live.
Absolutely agree that the timing being set at that same slot every week excludes a huge chunk of people. It’s perfectly timed for Aus because it’s 8pm on a Sunday evening.
Good video with not enough views.
One note though, even though it was hard to get a word in edgewise with the guest, adding in some commentary with voice over would have been nice.
Fair mate. Though I figured people wouldn’t want to listen to me on this one.
curious to see if you followed the plan AI provided would you get the desired results?
I did consider this but to be honest my kids started daycare this year and we are constantly getting sick. I just can’t consistently train for a month at the moment so I couldn’t give it a fair shake.
Those 3 - 6 spoke wheels should really just be used on the velodromes. It is where it comes from and where it should stay. You need give on road wheels to put up with roads and to give good compliance, overly stiff wheels will give you the opposite on standard roads.
Good overview of the topic. I'd say that's a fair representation of how the majority of trainees would use either AI or human coaches. Sadly, I expect people just want to be told what to do and not have to think about the many nuances or understand the 'why'. "Just give me the pill Doc!" Much to their detriment. To get the most out of either AI or a human coach you need to take an active role in the decision-making process and feedback loop. You need to put the effort into understanding the purpose of the sessions, learn to listen to your body and interpret what it tells you, and dig a little into the science so that your feedback is as comprehensive and informative as possible. I expect there is already a cohort of riders attracted to AI based coaching. Even if they accept the inevitable result of putting little effort in being decidedly average output, they need to be aware that the AI language models at this stage of development are still prone to turning out absolute shite despite having all the world's info at their disposal.
I agree with you mate. Coaches are still peak but you could learn a lot and get a decent plan from AI.
Thank god! For over a week I thought this video would never happen 🙏😂
I got you bro
I find this a bit lackluster in terms of depth. A lot of the points you mention about using a coach vs AI can be done with AI. ChatGPT likely knows more than any coach you will find in the world, simply based on the fact that it has access to pretty much everything you could ever need in terms of information. It can tell you specifically why it suggests the things it does, you just have to ask. You have to know how to use the tools you have at hand. You have to know how to use your coach in order to get your money's worth. Just like you have to know how to use CGPT properly in order to get what you want out of it. The output of any AI, will only ever be as good as the input it was given. I have to say, the way you used AI in this video, is probably the least effort way to use it. If you use a coach you pay 100s of $ for in the same way, you wouldn't get much for your money either.
Thanks for the feedback mate, and you’re right. It’s just nutting out a proof of concept. Of course you can go deeper into it, should you choose to. All I’m trying to do in this video is offer up an example in order to assess whether this has legs. Would love to see you do a follow-up demonstrating how to do it in depth. Would watch.
Just started using Whoosh and cancelled Zwift. I have a Zwift Hub and it works fine. Whoosh works great and totally fine for my indoor training use. I actually wish I used it earlier but the Zwift price bump motivated me to try it. Glad to be saving that money for coffee stops instead :) It always bothered me how limited the training enviros and kit choices were in Zwift, considering I'm paying for the service. I feel like I have very similar choices for free on Whoosh and the actual experience is very similar.
Monocoque wheels are always going to beat spoked for maintenance. All the issues with truing, corrosion, and all the broken spoke, rounded nipple issues are just gone. For a general riding wheel or commuting, any monocoque wheel is better. (And if you want lateral stiffness, just run a disc wheel) Unpopular opinion, but lateral stiffness is almost irrelevant so long as the wheel/tire isn't rubbing on the frame. If you even feel the wheel flexing when you ride, you need to improve your technique and reduce your own lateral inefficiency of movement.
Depends on your riding and these aren’t race wheels so fair enough, but how often do you actually have those issues?
@@burgess_and_his_bike I don't have many issues anymore, wheels have gotten better. But metal spokes are the last major issue. I just had to rebuild my front enve wheel from a couple siezed nipples.
Maybe, but maybe not. I'm holding out for peak torque's aero tests. If these are fast aerodynamically, I couldn't care less about lateral stiffness for TTs.
Yeah fair play. For TT it probably works. I’d just be scared with that flex.
How did you crack the carbon setting them up tubeless, would really like to know.
I used a Co2 canister to pop the bead on and the tyre blew off and the rim cracked parallel to the hook
Honestly, user error but you’d think they could take that
From the UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧🖖🖖
Hey dude!
@@burgess_and_his_bike Hey Dude 🤙 Keep Up the Vids, was interesting to see the amount of flex on that carbon wheel.

I just got my hands on a pair of used bikeahead Road wheels….happy to hear your comment
Dude do you want a spare rear? Haha. I loved the BikeAheads tbh but I just found them excessive. I race so I was constantly having to swap wheels out and just ended up not using them, leaving my race wheels on instead.
@@burgess_and_his_bike Regards from the north of Switzerland. Bikeahead is producing 3 hours away in Germany. Since I do not race it is no issue for me. Just put your wheel on marketplace…sure you will get it out for good money
That's feckin' hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
😉
Lateral stiffness is important for cornering and out of plane stuff but maybe gcn guy was talking about torsional stiffness which is harder to test but makes wheels feel good accelerating
Perhaps, but I feel it’s on GCN to be specific about that seeing as they’re basically creating an ad for these wheels and people trust what they say.
@@burgess_and_his_bike yeah, i would be upset if I bought them and found out they had no lateral stiffness
@@Chazz4804 totally. Can you imagine sprinting out of a corner with that flex?
hmm. I saw the Trace Velo video and didn't think of something until seeing yours. Some of that lateral deflection could be from the hub itself, hub axel interface, hub to wheel interface, etc. It would be interesting to see what amount of flex there is from the 6 spoke carbon design itself vs with the hub and if it would be possible to separate hub and hub/wheel interface play from wheel flex. Would also be interesting to see some wind tunnel data on the 6 spoke as they don't look aero to me.
Do you mean that cheaper hubs cause more wobble? I can’t see them causing that much movement though. As for whether they’re aero, I don’t think it matters. You can’t race them legally under UCI rules so it’s really just a flex.
No pun intended.
100%. Elite Wheels are not a good company to deal with. Keep away from them and stick to the proper brands.
Is this from experience? Would love to hear the story.
@@burgess_and_his_bike I judge them on their poor business practices. A while back I tried to leave a comment on one of their intagram posts I stumbled upon, the comments wasn't negative nor was it trolling, if anything it was positive as the comment was regarding the new logo style placement on their new wheels. Elite took it negatively and accused me of engagement farming. That left a soil taste. Shortly afterwards news drop about them stealing hub designs. They can't do anything right. Best to avoid them and let them bury themselves.
Just buy another pair its made in china and cheapo, thats the whole point. Even chinese do not buy their own products but save up to invest in quality.
🤙
Why is the woke generation always surprise when a made in china product snaps is beyond me. So naive this generation.
I think you’d be surprised by how much of your top-tier stuff is made in china. The problem is more the fact that EVERYONE is so obsessed with looking rich these days.
Bikeahead spokes look way less aero though :(
I think we think we know what aero looks like but it’s all about clean vs dirty air. I reckon you’d get quite a bit of dirty air coming off the back edge of the Elite Wheels spokes. Think about what water looks like after you drag your hand through. The BikeAhead ones are small with a sharp back edge to keep it clean.
I love "Burgess roasts GCN" videos 😂
Haha I feel like Trace roasted GCN and I just called it what it is.
Elves do a set. There is also many others making them.
Further to that I am running a set of Elite wheels and they have been flawless. They are the older wavey version. BWT I think they are.
Good to hear they’re good. Again, this is just based off TraceVelo’s review but you’d think they’d send him a tested set so I think it’s fair to assume they are representative of the product.
@@burgess_and_his_bike 100%. Would be interesting to see another review. Plus a review on the ones from Elves.
@@burgess_and_his_bike Sorry further to that i believe they stopped selling these spoke wheels at some point. Cant remember what for.
@@Squizzy05 I’ll put my hand up and say I won’t complain if people send me wheels 😉
Great vid dude.. man I gotta say kudos for testing the flex of the wheels I was cringing.. lol.. I wouldn’t go with those elite 6 spoke wheels not for me 🚴🏻👍Pete
They’re caache build wheels and why would you get a caache build and then whack cheap wheels on it. You run the wheels to show off. These Elite wheels flop about way too much haha
As for testing flex, it helps that the BA wheels are part of a broken set so I only have the rear wheel left.
Awesome Vid! Those Caden wheels look Niiiiiiiiiiice as Borat would say 😉 The six spoke jobbies though........ not so much 😕
Thanks man. They’re pretty decent. Have seen them getting built up and he’s got an awesome organisation there.

Thanks Lewis. Appreciate it
Great insight and input to this conversation Burgess, and at the same time Kudos to Luke for providing his honest input as well. From what I've seen of his content, it's usually easy to watch his videos and walk away with enough information to take my own calculated risks. I think for the case of these funky 6 spoke wheels, Elite got it wrong. My only data being the visual appearance of the BikeAhead's spoke design vs Elite's, the Bikeahead appear far less aerodynamic. The spokes are much wider; at their center they have a sort of spine that sticks out towards the outside of the hubs all the way to the outside of the rim, which is crucial because it forms the triangle truss found on conventional spokes that Luke was talking about. Which leads me to believe Elite was aiming purely for aerodynamics, and believed they could get away with a narrower, more blade shaped spoke profile while still retaining lateral stiffness thanks to their carbon construction. They didn't get away with it, as Luke demonstrated quite clearly. I wouldn't go so far as to making a blanket statement that Elite wheels suck though. Luke does thoroughly test the different models he uses and I was satisfied enough with his results (and other youtuber's) to take a chance on a newer (visually different) version of his cheapest ever set (Elite ENT disc). I also asked Elite to upgrade my spokes to Sapim CX Ray's, so basically for about $500 I get to say I had a company overseas build custom wheels just for me, that's pretty neat I think. 😎 More importantly though, even if I only got them this spring, and have only ridden them about 1000km, they have been flawless so far and a significant improvement to the alloy wheels they replaced. I'm quite sure I would have spent more locally on alloy wheels that wouldn't ride anywhere near as good as these and I don't have any reason to believe they won't last either. Hey @elitewheelscycles send Burgess a set of Drive's built to his specifications for review please?
It is certainly not my intention to shit on Elite Wheels in general, just this specific wheel and these wheels in general. Until the UCI approves them there are faster wheels for triathlon (three-bladed wheels for example) and so I don’t know the real market for these outside of wanting your bike to look cool, which let’s be real, works. If Elite Wheels want to send me something I’ll run it through its paces. I’d love to have a set of wheels I can stress test. Take them to the skate park or something.
Also, thanks for taking the time to write this whopper comment. There’s a lot of CZcams out there and don’t think it goes unnoticed or unappreciated that you took the time on my channel 🤙

I think if we were to examine how many things are funded we'd end up in the same lane. For example, Zwift took a huge chunk of investment not that long ago to fund growth and because some of that came from investment funds it could, realistically, be partly greenwashed (is that a word) too. Obviously not on the scale of UAE-backed ventures, but it is likely. This is a good overview of MyWhoosh, I never raced on Zwift but I do remember all the 'how do I..?' searches when I started nearly 6 years ago, before third parties like Zwift Insider and GP Lama picked up the slack for Zwift. And that is where I think MyWhoosh do a much better job, they interact with riders where Zwift left it to others and the community to help fix issues. I'm not sure I have left Zwift, I only used it in winter and the 25km free in the summer months if outside was awful, but as a non-racing, training indoors to supplement other sports, kinda rider who never really understood the social side of Zwift then MyWhoosh fits my uses. If Zwift had raised their fee incrementally, not in one bit hit, then I may never have looked around at alternatives but I am now a few hundred KM into MyWhoosh - blame the awful summer here in Sweden for that - and I see no reason to re-start Zwift when winter gets here. Also glad that CZcams suggested your channel, subscribed. Keep it up. Ride On 😉

And therein lies the beauty in these headphones, particularly the OpenRun Pro. You don’t have to compromise. I agree you shouldn’t have noise-cancelling headphones on the bike
Excellent review mate, although I don't wear headphones when riding or running. I prefer to focus on the activity and use it as an opportunity to get noise out of my head rather than put noise in. I find the mental clarity after decent ride or run is a huge buzz. I do have a pair of Jabra 7 Elite Active headphones that I used indoors when sweeping on Zwift rides to coordinate other sweepers. They work well, but that's all they were used for.
Thanks dude. I’m with you on rides and runs. It depends on how I’m feeling. A lot of my riding lately is commuting or the chop, so a bit of Slipknot while you’re rolling turns never hurts.
