I currently have one right now, (1 month in) and i dont feel any type of discomfort when turning the screw. First few weeks were kinda wack cause i couldnt talk without slurring my speech or eat without feeling uncomfortable because of food getting stuck. After that, I PROMISE it gets WAY BETTER. I often forget i even have it. Some tips and things ill share to people starting their RPE Journey: 1. EAT BIGGER BITES NOT SMALLER ONES. (it might sound counter productive, but smaller bites will just get more food stuck in your expander.) 2. START TO PRACTICE YOUR TALKING ASAP WITH FAMILY MEMBERS OR A MIRROR. 3. Once you widen your expander, less food gets stuck. But it DOES NOT mean you widen your RPE as many times possible. Simply follow the dentist/orthos advice and you'll be good. 4. Get a pack of ibuprofen to counter the pain. (I personally dont feel any so i think im good lol, gl to everyone else tho)

guys removing my premolars has significant helped me in a lot of ways like for example I had a narrow pallet and now I have more room and more space ,probably from my nance appliance that they applied so that my teeth won’t shift during braces and if u feel anxious don’t ! I genuinely think u only get “ side effects “from more then 4 teeth or if they take out 4 of them I’m in braces now and I haven’t noticed anything different but my teeth looking wayy better .😭

I have only 3 lower incisors by birth and a gap between two lower incisor what if i go through bracers to fix that gap do i get overbite??

A process like this takes years, just be patient

why do you pull back a jaw that's already too far back and underdeveloped which lead to crooked teeth? Orthodontists don't have common sense, why should you be in practice? Also don't forget pulling back harms the airway and facial profile. Additionally, breathing issues often cause crooked teeth in the first place, so stupid. No wonder orthodontics is unstable just makes the underlying problem worse.

I extracted my upper two teeth few days ago for braces. Exploring the comment section made me sick. Doctor told that I should get the bottom premolars extracted as well after two months. Idk what I should do.. Anybody please help me out here.

I regret it got my teeth removed a week ago got infected and I’m in agony

So my friend just got one of these in, and she ask me to adjust it for her, not telling me the hole isn't shaped such that the tool can't spin around inside hole. So here I was, spinning this tool in a round hole ever so slowly, thinking I was adjusting it, but doing absolutely nothing, constantly asking if anything hurt. Then we found this video and we're both still laughing like idiots.

Does this change ur face shape? I mean I have an overbite and my face looks fine, but it may look bad if they remove a pair of teeth from the upper jaw and the upper jaw moves back

What else can help? I have a severe overjet due to a tongue thrust and an underdeveloped lower jaw. My orthodontist said I either need my pre molars extracted or else I need jaw surgery. I don’t want to do either but I want to be able to bite food with my front teeth and not have a lisp anymore.

Will this work if you are 50 years old?

i did this at 12 now i have set back jaw, weak chin and less space for my tongue. Orthodontists extract you teeth because they studied to do so but in most cases we shouldn't extract teeth

So I have a severe overbite, I feel like this operation would cause the lower half of my face to look sunken in. Like, really sunken in.

Worst thing you can possibly do. Your jaw is probably underdeveloped. If you worsen the one part, your upper jaw, that is developed and retract it, it’s just gonna worsen the airway and make breathing worse.

But doctor not put it in my mouth thats why my molar teeth go inside 😢 so what i do now please give me answer? 😢 and my doctor say i can do nothing with this condition 😭
