While they were dancing. there was an Industrial school so-called, about a mile away from town center where children were being subjected to atrocious living conditions. The name of the place was St. Joseph's Industrial School for boys of which I was a resident from 1953 to 1958. I have experienced firsthand the brutality of some of the so-called Christian Brothers who managed that hellhole, a former workhouse turned into a childcare facility. This place was supposed to care for children born into abstract poverty and other wayward children. It was operated well into the sixties with an Iron fist by a Catholic Religious order and its reputation was deserving.

Glin in west limerick was the torture residence for young children who had the misfortune to be born into poverty. Rather than have these children be housed in a humane environment, the courts put these unfortunates in these hellholes, The whole population of Ireland turned a blind eye to this, as a result thousands of young people at sixteen faced the world well versed in catechism. and nothing to help them in the world which they were dumped @@deeppurple883

Only into the 1970's did the people of Ireland wake up to the atrocities that took place behind those high walls screened by the law courts and the Catholic Church. They awarded me about sixty thousand dollars for the abuse under their care. It should have been at least a million dollars. The award was to keep quiet and swept under the rug as is usual with such organized. There was one benefit, it turned me away from the church for life. @@deeppurple883
