    Siamo un po' alle solite: nell'Olimpo dei cantanti lirici i ruoli sono rigorosamente attribuiti e per tradizione non si cambia mai! Questo per dire altro, e cioè che al di là della tipologia di voce per cui Pavarotti è un lirico e Del Monaco un drammatico, esistono altri parametri che ne fanno saltare di precedenti. Ad esempio nel caso di Otello, in quest'opera non tutto si risolve con la maschia attitudine a volumizzare i suoni; "gia nella notte densa" ad esempio da Del Monaco arriva il tentativo di un "tuttovoce" di addolcire i toni, smussare le angolature; ascoltato da un lirico come Pavarotti l'effetto è assolutamente diverso, mi riferisco alla resa della voce. Qiesto per dire che un'opera lirica - a parte le volute eccezioni - presentano una varietà che non si adatta ad un solo cantante. Infine quindi ben vengano l'Otello di Pavarotti come la Boheme di Del Monaco

    Dame Joan's famous recordings of the Chenier and Trovatore arias. I am not sure that she got to sing Maddalena on stage ever even if it suited her spinto soprano voice , although I believe she recorded the final Chenier duet with the tenor Rudolf Schock. She always brought her characters to life on disc, whereas some singers just produce beautiful singing , but with less personality. The Norma aria was a rarity for her and in fact at first she did not pass the recording for release, as she had been unhappy with the number of takes required to complete it. Once again it is a very musical , characterful reading even if she would never have sung this repertoire in the opera house. She was more suited to composers such as Verdi , Puccini, but also Czech and Russian repertoire.

    The problem: Don Carlos as a character is no hero - but Corelli sings it so

    • @petergraham8681
      @petergraham8681 Před 2 měsíci

      History paints a totally different picture of the actual Don Carlos than what Verdi‘s opera portrays. The written historical commentary available on the MYTOS recording, among others, explains this character‘s traits that, in Verdi‘s time, no opera libretto would have consented to describe: a totally repugnant figure both physically & mentally challenged. Further details one has to read for themselves. Whether Verdi & his librettist were aware of Don Carlos‘ actual personality remains doubtful since they created an impulsive though romantic & idealistic figure in keeping with 19th century operatic conventions. It is true that Verdi‘s Don Carlos was no real hero compared with Rodrigo but neither was he the monster of historical record.

    Люблю у франко Корелли все, что он поёт, ранние записи нравятся своей некоторой необузданностью, что прекрасно сочетается с внешностью и ролями. Последующие шедевры уже более душевные и входят в мое сердце и на глаза наворачиваются слёзы и хочется сказать - как ты смог войти в мою душу и растопить сердце?
