I just had to schedule an appointment for my 8 year old cat Ripley because of a cancer in her cheek. It has been spreading and affecting her nose recently. I knew when she starting to struggle to breath through her nose and had a tongue out of mouth to sleep that I needed to call. It was a hardest phone call I have had to make. I think having to decide a date to never see your loved one again is one of the worst emotional pains I have felt. I have broken down multiple times today just wishing there was a way to save my little cat. I am now counting time I have with her. I know I don't want her to experience suffocation. I know its the right call. Its just hard. Thank you for the video. You talking about breathing being a big one has helped me think I am making the right call. As well as the roller coaster of good and bad days. Today, while I had to call the appointment, she is having a good day. I am still back and forth in my head about it all, there is some comfort that this is a normal experience roller coaster of good and bad days. Much love to anyone else out there experiencing the same. <3

I also had two dogs with Cushings. The first symptoms were the excessive drinking and peeing and a voracious appetite. They both would wolf their food down and eat their own poop. When i took them for walks they would search the ground for anything to pick up to eat. The Lab testing to diagnose it is very expensive. I believe around $300 each time because they have to test their blood, do a steroid injection, wait and draw blood and test again. So they had to stay at the vets several hours each time. Then the medicine, Vetoryl is $75-$90 a month. if you want an ultrasound of their belly its around $700 or so. So this is not a disease that the average person can afford to treat unfortunately. When they start the medicne, the vet must monitor their blookdwork to make sure they dont go too far which is very dangerous for the dog. My dog also had the pot belly, skin discolation, loss of hair, panting, licking her paws. She lived about 10 months after her official diagnosis. My other dog is still living and is early on in her diagnosis.

So....what about a 12yr old Bugg that just all the sudden started drinking a lot a lot and peeing the bed at night. And wetting the house....zero other symptoms....urine test was fine no signs of issues other than dilute...blood work had elevated enzymes....diabetes and kidney disease ruled out. Vet [she doesn't have a regular vet due to retirement] says get an ultrasound of belly [they don't do them there so we are trying to get a vet that does]. . . She did have no shots until age 4 and was spade at age 4 [we got her at age 4] and was dx with false pregnancy. Bloodwork 2019 was normal. Is it possible it's something else? She does have a growth on her lip that needs removed. . . We didn't do bloodwork annually. They rx Denamarin.

My standard poodle killed my cat yesterday. Somehow, the cat ended up in the kennel and he went on the attack. He is extremely hyper and "playful aggressive." He killed my neighbors' chickens about 6 months ago. He has bitten family members and visitors before as well. As much as we are devastated about all of these incidents, this dog has some good qualities. He is very sweet and intelligent when he is controlled. He has an "alpha-male personality." A lot of people have told us to get rid of the dog before and we chose to keep him. We are very conflicted about what to do with him as we believe his instinct was involuntary. He is only 3 years old. This decision is something we are doing our best to avoid, but this may be the most humane answer for the good of the community, even though it would cause a second tragedy off of the first one

I am so sorry for Hurley's loss. I understand the pain 100% and my heart hurts with you. They are so much more than pets, they are family and that makes them loved ones too. There are no words that can be spoken or actions that can be taken to stop the pain, only time. We NEVER get “over it” as some people have said. We will never forget or get over their loss, we only learn to live with the pain and emptiness as time goes on. In time, you will smile when thinking of the fond memories and funny antics. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that death is NOT the end, it's the beginning for both human and animals!! I know this because the bible tells us: ALL innocent creatures go to be with our creator God the Father upon death and that includes the animals! Only humans have sinned, all animals are innocent. Human's have a choice but not animals, they live and function on instinct. Just as people receive new bodies the animals do as well. Their bodies will be those that were before the fall of creation. When Adam and Eve ate of the fruit, everything fell from perfection. Birds even began singing in a different key! The breath of life that God breathed into Adam and Eve is the same breath of life that God breathed into the animals, except God breathed into the animals first! Genesis 2:19-25 - God created animals first and Adam named every living creature or beasts of the field! The animals were important to God. When God breathed a spirit into Adam’s body, Adam became nephesh: “living being” or “soul”. The same Hebrew word “nephesh” is used for both animals and people! Genesis 1:30; 7:15, 22 Genesis 2:7 that animals and man have the same breath of life! The bible also talks of a child placing his/her hand into the hole of an Asp (deadly snake). The animals also spoke before the fall of creation! Remember the serpent spoke in the Garden of Eden Numbers 22:28 - The donkey spoke, through God, the donkey’s tongue was loosened. The donkey could also see the angel, this shows intelligence. Are the animals closer to God than man? Yes, for they are totally innocent and know no sin! They also were a substitute until the birth of Jesus. In the book of Enoch, which is one of the lost books of the bible, Enoch speaks of the animals testifying against man at the great white throne judgment! Those who are born-again and have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will spend eternity with our loved ones who went first and that includes the animals! Romans 8:21: That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. Luke 12:7 - God provides for animals just as for man. He knows when a sparrow falls, none are forgotten before God. Joel 1:20 - The animals cry unto God just as mankind does. Jesus loves the animals! Imagine our love on earth. Jesus has perfect love (agape love), after all he suffered and died an agonizing death on the cross for us. His love for the animals and his creation is perfect and as humans we cannot begin to understand. Proverbs 12:10 - The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but even the kindness of godless men is cruel”. Animals aren’t created in God’s image nor are they equal to humans, however we are their caretakers. Nevertheless, there is biblical evidence animals have non-human souls. Nephesh and psyche are translated “soul” for mankind, but these are also used with animals. God made certain the animals were saved from the flood, and we know from scripture they most certainly are going to be on the refreshed, new earth. When Moses and the Hebrews left Egypt, their animals went too. We need to see that animals and man share something special - we are both living beings. Something one must remember is that Adam and the animals lived happily in the Garden before the fall and will again. Don't forget, when God cursed the 2 people, the animals and whole earth fell under that same curse! That is why some animals now have a “less than loving” nature. Once we’re enjoying the new earth, they will be as they were in the Garden of Eden! Proverbs 12:12 (NLT) - We are to be stewards of animals. We are caretakers, but they belong to God, not us. For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. Every bird of the mountains and all animals of the field belong to me Psalm 50:10-11, Psalm 148:10-13, Revelation 4:8-9; 5:13 Animals also praise God. We fail to zero in on scripture that says the “living creatures” that cry out “holy, holy, holy” are animals dwelling in God’s presence. Our Lord Jesus Christ in Revelation 21:5 proclaims “I am making all things new”. Revelation 5:13 - Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praised and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” Romans 8 - Creation itself will be free from its bondage, the whole creation has been groaning. Man sinned, animals did not but they were still brought down by human sin. That is a terrible truth of sin; it effects both the innocent and guilty. Romans 8:21 - Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. I am so thankful my mother and I were able to do this study, she died shortly after. Being human, we are selfish and want to keep our loved ones with us forever. As long as I/we are on earth, I will always miss her and wish she had not left us. I can't wish her back here out of heaven, that would be the ultimate act of selfishness!! I would not want her to suffer further because now, she is free of all her pain and is in paradise with Jesus (Luke 23:43). My mother was born-again and so am I, so I will see her again. Most of all we will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus. I look forward to that day.

For anyone facing this heartbreaking decision, Lap of Love is countrywide. There is a video on CZcams produced by Lap of Love on how to know when it’s time to say goodbye. It is a great, informative and compassionate video that will help with making that decision. I have a senior dog with dementia, arthritis, degenerative disc disease and a collapsed trachea and will have to make this decision myself, but after having watched this I feel better about having to make that decision. My only wish would be for lower prices. We are seniors living on Social Security and a small pension. When the time comes, it is going to really strain our finances. But honestly, I am very willing to give up my meds for a month for our baby to have a peaceful loving release from her pain.

What an informative video. Im looking for advice as i have to think about naking the decision. Im still struggling but this video gave me a lot more to think about and it made me realise that i think it is time, i iust hate being in the position of having to make the choice. Whikst for the nost part she can still walk, she can only fo short walks, her body only allows for that, but her mind and her spirit still wants to go on longer walks. Amd ehilst she can do short walks, she is most likely in quite a lot of pain. Animals bring so much joy and love and it sucks ehen they get old, sick or injured and we have to make this decision

Lap of love helped me so much. It allowed me to recognize and embrace anticipatory grief. I had never heard of it before, but it was exactly what I was experiencing! It was so helpful for me to identify and honor what I was feeling. It helped me create a bucket list for my girl and to continue to do things on that list for the entire year and. Half since her diagnosis of Laryngeal paralysis and poly neuropathy. We took her for weekly acupuncture and she got a Starbucks pup cup and a ham and Swiss panini after most sessions. I consulted a pet psychic during what I knew were Bella’s last days. I wanted to know if she wanted to go on vacation to Maine with us. I knew it would be a hard trip for her. The psychic said that Bella felt it was important that she went to Maine on vacation. We got her a life jacket so she would be able to have some last swims in the ocean. We got a fan that mounted on the headrest of the front seat to keep air flowing on her and make sure she stayed cool. She was a trooper and made the two day trip to Maine without a single problem. We had arranged for her to continue to receive her Accupunture treatments at a vet near our vacation home, but after arriving she seemed to go down hill quickly. She had trouble standing on her own and walking was a difficult. After 4 days, we decided it was time. It wasn’t fair to her to keep her hanging on through our vacation. Fortunately, we found the one hospice vet in the area and she agreed to come to our vacation house and help Bella cross peacefully. We took her for ice cream, fed her fish and chips on a dock by the water, let her swim in the ocean, and just stayed with her and loved her the best we knew how. Thank you for letting me describe Bella’s last and hopefully best days here. We miss her every day and talk about her every day to our new black lab pup, Cole.

I almost turned this off because I'm so sad and yal were seemed too happy. I'm so grateful I didn't! I needed to hear about not wanting to have to do this in distress, but rather when it's 'good'. We did it when it was as good as it was going to be for her! I thought it would've been easier if she were noticeably 'needing' it, but after hearing this I feel some relief in our decision! Thank you!

It’s 2:53 am and this spoke to me as my 12 yr old Miniature Dachshund Harold’s Mommy , to the core. I have to add I am a retired nurse with palliative training. Which means I specialized in helping humans die in the most beautiful loving and graceful way. I was good at my job. Not so much when it came time to doing the same Harold, I’m in the middle grey area with him. Over 2 years of injecting Harold Morning & night with insulin for his diabetes. We have never been able to keep him at really good numbers for his sugars be. And in parters with 2 vets that agree that this is becoming very hard for Harold. Thankyou so much @lapoflove for this amazing, well thought out guide for us as family to our guy. You spoke to my soul❤️❤️ We know that there won’t be the look, now. And that all the boxes on the list don’t need to be checked on the quality of life scale..because if there is a chance that we could put Harold into a crisis rush death by waiting. I want now the bucket list for him to celebrate his life, and pure joy for him . All of you @lapoflove especially the Doc… Thankyou for speaking to my soul💔❤️…Thankyou seems shallow for all this video brought to Harold most importantly but us too. xoxo

My big friendly boy, Titan has just been diagnosed as having multiple mast cell tumours. They were unable to operate on the large ulcerated tumour due to the multiple other smaller ones coming up in the same area. They said thay steroids will work for a short time from a few weeks to a couple of months when they will come back with a vengeance. Hes 11 years old and has been my best friend, my first fur son of my own since he was 8 weeks old (o axrually visited him right after he was born). He had a chest xray and confirmed the cancer hasnt spread to any organs, however the tumours themselves can turn very nasty. He is weak on his hind end, but he is still loving his walks, loving food, loving his toys and being his usual happy self. I don't want to say goodbye prematurely if he is still loving life, but at the same time i don't want him to get to the stage where he is covered in ulcerated tumours (currently only one is ulcerated). I just don't know what to do. Heartbroken and needing some advice. 💔

I appreciate you doing this video. I've been grieving hard for the last 3 days since making the decision to have my beloved chihuahua, Pete, put down. The guilt has been tearing me up...even though I knew it was the right thing to do. I'm a 54 year old man and I've been breaking down in tears several times a day. The hurt is real. Trying to move foward. I know it takes time. But your video helped. Thank you.

Thank you so much for posting this! I have a 19 year old cat that I am really coming to grips with going to have to let her go. And you're right there are good days and bad days so I don't feel like it's time to let her go yet. But like you I am actually getting ready to leave on a trip for 9 days and I have a girlfriend coming to stay with her but boy oh boy would I hate for this to have to be a decision that I have to make while I'm gone nor would I want my friend to have to go through it with my cat . I reached out to lap of love because of your video today and definitely did some anticipatory crying while listening.... it's close. I know it is. And it's going to be so hard! 😢

Thursday we are saying goodbye to our 3rd fur baby in 7 months. Our 15 year and ten months poodle died May 18th, our 5 year and 10 month old cat died on June 8th, which was unexpected and Thursday our 14 and 7 month old Silky will be euthanized. It's so heartbreaking. I'm sure she's eating to please us much of the time and she's struggling, so it's time. Thanks for this video, it makes it easier to let her go before it's going to be terrible for her.

My dog, who I rescued almost 6 years ago and have given him a wonderful life, has bitten me twice in the past year. He is a pitbull rescue that had been terribly abused. The last bite occurred recently, and it is much more severe than the first one. I am fearful for my safety and live alone. I plan to let him go in two days. I'm heartbroken and having a very bad time dealing with the guilt, second-guessing myself, and incredible depression over all of this. Any kind advice is so very much appreciated. This is the most helpful video I have watched seeking answers and assurance. Thank you.
