Cheers Toby! Unfortunately it's only 60m back from the river on the VIC side that you can legally camp on. NSW is private property all the way to the rivers edge, except in state forests, etc. And I prefer to err on the side of caution anyway... I will avoid annoying landholders if at all possible 😊

@@AmyOutdoors it's all about work and ballooning at the moment. I must be due for another mid-life crisis sometime. Need to finish the Bidgee at some point.

@auntymonkey01 haha, yep! No mid-life crisis for me this year though 😉 I need to finish the Bidgee one day too... should be a lot easier for me with a lighter boat now. Just got to get a few scratches on her before I subject her to that trip though 😆

It's just taken me a bloomin' long time to get a chance to edit my videos and post them! @@AmyOutdoors I haven't been out for a paddle in a while, but I finally started back hiking (lightly) last week. It's been almost 3 years since Covid almost took me out and It feels great to get out. I still have my canoe and I hope to put it in the water soon. Cheers!

G'day! Yes you got that right... gotta love a canoe for a huge gear load out! I don't carry a chair on solo canoe camping trips anymore... I spend all day in a comfy chair in my canoe (the OT Next's seat is just so bloomin' comfortable!), so when I get to camp it's just more convenient to sit in the doorway of my tent on the little butt-sized piece of yoga mat which is on top of one of the small tarps I use as a verandah mat for the tent... because everything is within easy reach!

@@SmashTheAdventure thanks for checking out my videos 😊 Yep, speed will depend where on the Murray you are... upper reaches have faster current which slows down to very little current once you're in SA.

That's the narrowest it gets. A rear view mirror would be a good idea through there I think

As hard as it was to pull the camera out at those low moments I knew it would tell the story more fully and give anyone watching a better understanding of what it's really like to do this trip. There are so many amazing moments you could easily fill a few hours telling those good-news stories and give the impression that it's all rainbows and unicorns, but the hard moments are what makes this journey so memorable and helps us grow in the end.

Awesome! It definitely worth doing 👌 I carried 13L of water during autumn/winter which would last me a week or so. My tent is a 3F UL Taiji 😊

actually I usually carried 16L of water... I forgot to include what my smaller 1L bottles could carry, lol

aww shucks, thanks mate! Definitely my prefered way to enjoy the river and it's nature 😊The milo sachets came from one of the asian grocers in Adelaide a few years ago. I managed to find some in Robinvale when I was there a couple of years ago too... but they're rare as hens teeth unfortunately.

Give it a try next time you're heading downstream, it's a gentle ride down as they let the water out... it will be a bit more turbulent getting an upstream lockage though!

G'day Rob, thanks for checking out my video and great to hear you're thinking of doing the same! There's heaps of resources out there on the web. I don't have a website of my own, but a couple of friends that have also thru-paddled the river a number of times have gathered a lot of knowledge together on their websites... search for "ETA Unknown" and "echuca-murray mouth kayak journey" - they both have maps, trip notes, blog/journal entries, etc. As well as my video journals of my paddle (which are still being edited and will be posted as I finally get each episode done! Check them, and my other paddle journeys out too of course, as there's lots of hints and tips scattered throughout) I also journalled/photographed my thru-paddle on my Amy Outdoors facebook page... you can go back to the 2021 posts if you're keen to read and see what it's like too. The gear video I did last year (czcams.com/video/kGWeKU6PUMY/video.html) gives a lot of hints as to what to bring and why too... although gear is a very personal choice, and most folks take a lot less than I do! Hope that helps, and of course let me know if you've got any other specific questions!
