I got one that behave where I first planted but when I transplanted it, I got a bunch of new plants from the roots; I dug them out and came back with vengeance. Not very mad about it but be aware. I am in Raleigh, NC

@deesmith9795 Thank you for saying "at the moment"! The problem with all the failures I find on the Internet must be based on the incomplete information. The more accurate information is AT the EXACT time of the equinox, not ON the equinox. For extra credit in my physics class I woke up near midnight in the mid 80's, made my 3 younger siblings get up, placed a dozen eggs on the sidewalk, and we all teamed up to get 11 out of the dozen to stand on end within a one minute window of the EXACT time of the equinox. None would balance for the many minutes we tried before the exact time; after the first stood they all very rapidly readily stood, we watched in amazement as they one by one fell in the span of a minute, and we could not get a single one balanced after several minutes of trying afterwards. Siblings still text me every year to remind me and thank me for including them in that experience. So much misunderstanding from changing one word of the instructions.

Are the leaves supposed to droop? I just got one and the leaves droop. I can't find anything on it though.

i USED WILT PRUFF DESSSICATE LAST YEAR prior to our big freeze of 30 below zero. it may have helped some, but not much. how do you apply wiltpruff when using other things to treat boxwoods. we have literally done surgery, cutting out the dead and new is filling in. we have 10 foot boxwoods and they are the centinals of my garden. i am just doing all i can to preserve them. any other suggestions. we are in central Kentucky. I would appreciate any advice to help. I am attached to them, as i started them from cuttings, and they are 35 years old. my babies.

I always worried about the feral cats but never thought to keep the birds warm and give them water. My husband loves feeding them everyday , while we were watching them go crazy feeding. I noticed a group of them were trying to warm up in the grill of my husband's truck. Made me sad. I wish i could help them keep warm too. Its below zero today

Scratch on my head...help the birds warm but I noticed the birds took a bath in the very cold water.

My tarragon doesn't taste strong at all.Not sure what kind it is but its tall and lankey.i got a start from my daughter in law a couple of years ago,but it doesn't taste like tarragon that I've had before..

I did it myself on 2 or 3 occasions. Not only did it actually stand on its own, at the moment of the equinox, it was almost like the egg was snatched out of my hand to stand up straight AND it stayed like that for hours after the equinox was over.

What would you suggest for a replacement in the shade?

I would not plant tomatoes with other plants, same for zucchini or cucumbers. The reason is water and nutrient usage. I am on my 3rd year using my earth boxes. I have previously planted zuchini with basil. That did not work at all. Basil / lettuces ok. You want to plan similar types of plants, or at least similar water / nutrient usage, else the high water use plants will steal from the others and .. dead and unusable plants. In our earth boxes with similar plants, we have excellent results with high yield. Also the way he breaks up the root mass is awful. He rips them apart. I make an Aloe vera water for transplanting. I make a mixture of aloe vera jell that I skinned the spikes and outer leaves off, keep only the jelly inside. Put that jell in a blender or chopper with water, make a mush. Then add that to a larger bucket with more water and mix that up good. The Aloe Vera water acts as an instant food so no wilting. I soak the root ball when transplanting, gently loosening up the roots, trying not to tear any of them. Then add them to a well watered hole. You want to be careful watering too much through the top, for you will over water the fertilizer, which can work against you. The reason the fertilizer food is placed where it is, so that it is time released over the season. Drenching that part will over water that and burn roots. Different than Bruce below, I addd the water through the tube right away to start the wicking process, but I also water through the top for a couple days. Watching for water depravation. I use the auto water system so then it just takes over from there. You see amazing results in two weeks.

It’s sad but now we know!! I think you do a great job explaining blight and winter kill. Looks like we have winter kill. I grow commercial raspberries and blackberries i used a product keeps them from drying out!! In lower lower temperature. I’m thinking we should of tried that on our box wood plants.

Nothing but a sales pitch. These feeders they are talking about will NOT repel squirrel. The squirrel will quickly learn that as long as they futz around with the feeders, seed will drop to the ground. So yes the squirrels won't feed directly from the feeders but they will learn that they can empty the feeders by messing with them and then gorge themselves on all the seed that falls out of the feeder when they futz with them. The feeders need to shut closed so all the seed doesn't fall out. These feeders being show are great gimmicks but they don't repel the squirrel from emptying your feeders.
