What a wonderful video. In the 1960's I worked for the Green Mtn RR. with Bob Adam's, Bob Ashcroft, and course Nelson Blount. Those were heady days for a young man. They are daily, 324 passes by here between 6 am - 7 am and 323 runs by here between 7 pm - 9 pm, They don't run on Wednesdays but sometimes they can do an extra.

How can one tell if an engine is operating at full throttle (notch 8)? I've seen NYAR travel faster than this.
Speed doesn’t necessarily correlate to throttle position. An engine can be in the 8th notch standing still and can be idling at 45 MPH
You might not see it, but you can hear it.

Nice video. This was a while ago. Definitely a cool move for sure. Mostly cause the switcher genset out east shit itself so they sent that and then it ran on the 51. Even NYAR fails sometimes not just LIRR
