I loved these when i visited, i didnt even mean to go but i was visiting the college on an open day, and when i was bored looking through doves guide, i saw that these indeed were ringing on that day! And i must say thyre rather impressive

I remember ringing here, the bells sound really nice. I once remember when we were ringing down (before the extra treble was put in), we rang down all 13 bells, D Db C B sounded very off. Another one when we were ringing in a natural minor scale, using the middle 10 and 6b and sounded very interesting. When the extra treble got put in, I went up with the tower captain to make a video about it, I never posted it because it was cringy.

Would love to have a go at ringing the bells my father passed away on 29.9 with his funeral due to be on 23.10 we visited St Mary’s Nantwich last week and I lit a candle for my father I felt somehow closer to him and more at peace with his sudden loss

Bourdon bell is 293cwt in Db thats 14 tonnes. The sixth bell is 14cwt.

Is it me or do they sound a tad better as a 10

We have an old Church of England parish down the street from us. Every Monday night they ring the bells in this random way. No melody. Just this noise that goes on for over an hour… 😡

I would love to ring here I'm surprised you can ring the tenor on your own but it takes massive strength and balance like surfing a 10ft wave and years off experienced like Exeter Cathedrals tenor St Pauls Cathedrals 61cwt in Bb tenor Yorkminsters 59cwt in Bb tenor and St Buryans 37cwt in C# tenor

alton and rocester are taylor bells rocester are hung on 2 levels ringing is discontinued after restoration ashbourne are dobson bells cheadle are rudhall abraham draycott are taylors trebles and 3rd 4 and tenor are unknown 5 and 7 are paul hutton 6 is henry oldfeild

12 bells cast by mears and stainbank plus a sharp 2nd the bourdon is cast by john taylor

gillettt and johnson john taylor john warner and sons and abraham rudhall

all bells are cast by john taylor along with the extra bell which is newer in 2021 plus the frame for that bell and a flat 6th in 1973 they are bung on 2 levels the tower is called the addleshaw

These are truly awful. The trebles are the only good bells out of the whole ring!

Is the lack of ringing due to the tower no longer being classed as structurally sound enough?

I used to ring at Durham cathedral, as well as my home parish in St Laurence-in-Thanet, Ramsgate (all way back in the 1970s), but I truly consider that Lincoln Cathedral has the sweetest peal of bells in England! Use CZcams to compare; and you'll see what I mean.
