Ive just found you and I couldn't be happier, I go to a quilt class and do ok but now, following your clear instructions, I can do my quilt as you go so much quicker and easier, your designs are a breath of fresh air. They're beautiful. Thank you so much I look forward to following you.
Thank you so much for your kind words, glad you found us too ❤️
Good evening Monica and Alaura. Two very talented women. Your videos are great. Your voice is soothing and you don’t have any music when you talk which means we can hear you clearly. Love what you do.
Thank you so much!
Beautiful as always ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
What a treat, thank you lovely as always.
You are so welcome!
Beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
It's gorgeous! Thank you
Glad you like it!
I am in Sydney too , can you tell me please where do you buy your pens and glues and what do you use as spray glues because the one I use from depot light smells so strong of pertrol
Try Lyn's needlework at Baulkham Hills. I like to use 505 basting spray.
Can I do the appliqué stitch when the batting has been sandwich in between instead of doing on the first layer first and then stick around when the sandwich has been done as to the quilting .
Yes you can do this but the applique stitch that you choose such as a blanket stitch or zig zag will be visible on the back of the quilt. Some people like the look of this, it's a personal choice. You can also use a busy backing fabric to disguise the stitching on the back of the quilt.
@@PatternPooleTV thank you very much for your quick response , it is much appreciated.
What is the white thing shown in the first place? And what is used in the stripes to make it sturdy?
The white thing is foam interfacing, and I used a stiff fabric tape for the handles.
I love these tutorials I watch a million times Ty for bringing them here
Thank you so much!
So beautiful!! Lovely work, Monica. I’m watching again - probably won’t be the last time either.
Yay! Thank you!
Thank you Monica. Love your tip's, and whisper's of wisdom. ❤
Glad you like them!
I have to finish my current project, but I would love to make this next. If I join now, will I still have access to the previous months’ patterns?
Yes, you will. The great thing about this course is that it's monthly so there's plenty of time to catch up. You can sign up for the course here: www.patternpoole.com/signup2024
Love the hair style, very flattering,! Your sewing space is quite lovely as well.
Thank you so much!
Would love for you to do a video on fabric markers and videos for other tools as well!
Great idea!
I will check into the Mystery sew along. You have such beautiful fabrics! I would not know what fabrics I could choose! Here in the United States! I have enjoyed your videos very much. I am anxious to try your methods! You make everything look so easy, too!
Thank you 🙏 we’ve kept the fabric choice very easy this year. Just choose your favourite colour then choose 5 fabrics ranging from deep to pastel. You can also make it a scrap quilt from your stash. You’ll find more information about the course here: www.patternpoole.com/post/faq-s-time-to-bloom-2024-mystery-quilt-course
Do you have to pay to join the sew along?
Yes, you’ll find all the information about the course here: www.patternpoole.com/post/faq-s-time-to-bloom-2024-mystery-quilt-course
Great block and tutorial. I have so many on my plate so won’t be doing this year.
Thanks, no worries, enjoy your sewing ❤️
Your videos are so wonderfully detailed, Monica. I enjoyed watching as you quilted the block; the dimensional quality of the quilting makes a simple block so striking. I think the background music is so much more relaxing than machine noise, Alaura. 😉😊
Thank you so much!
I’m on a 2 week trip to Nova Scotia. I won’t be able to start until after the 14th. My hubby was laughing at me for watching the video tutorial while we were driving.😂
Oh that’s funny 🤣 enjoy your trip!
I watch a lot of tutorials while my husband is driving. Helps to keep me calm as I get anxious on trips. Plus, as a new quilter about to start on my first in a couple of weeks, I'm learning lots of ideas. Happy Quilting 😊
I LOVE this block! So excited to get started! ❤
That’s awesome 🤩
I haven’t gotten to watch you much lately but when I do I just love watching you sew sewwwwww much!!!!!
Awwww thank you so much!
So wonderful to see you back Monica💕🎉🧵
Thanks, it's great to be back!
It's going to be interesting to see how everyone will arrange the 4 blocks. Can't wait to get started, for me it won't until the 15th.
Agree, can't wait to see all the different versions.
Hey everyone, go over to the live chat. There are more people there
Hello from Missouri
Hi everyone
Hi guess who nancy, marette and tracy! Watching from Chicago Illinois!
Super cute new hair cut!!!
Thank you!! A change is fun!
Hi y'all
How exciting!!
Oops. Regarding enlarging pattern, the word is about not a pot. Excuse me. Marilyn
Give it a go, just make sure that the side panel fits.
Love this pattern. I’d like to enlarge this pattern a pot 1 inch on each side. As long as I’m careful with measuring, is it possible? Marilyn D.
What are we marking with the straight edge & creaser at 38 minutes?
Just a mark that is 2” in from the edge of the block as a reminder to not quilt 2” away from the edge. Don’t quilt on this line though.
What about wash away stabilizer?
Yes, you could use a washaway stabiliser. However, here are some issues to watch out for: 1. If you didn't prewash your fabric, the block that you wash could shrink and be a different size to your other blocks. 2. Once washed and dried, you'll want to iron the block to remove the wrinkles. If you used a polyester embroidery thread, is may melt under the iron. Best to try a sample first.
You are amazing, I wish I had found you earlier, your videos have taught me so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Judy
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching our videos ❤️
Ive made 3 of these so far. I love this pattern. thank you for sharing
You are so welcome! Awesome to hear that you have made 3, good on you! I use mine all the time ❤️
I get my batting upside down all the time and haven't had any problems. I use cotton.
My tip is that I change my needle plate on my Pfaff to the straight stitch plate.
Your videos are very detailed and clear. It took me a lot of practice to figure it out but it was worth the time.
I like the look of older quilts and I don't wash begore I quilt. I made a wedding ring quilt with 30's reproduction prints. I loved how the shrinkage after washing just made it look more like an antique. I have prewashed reds as I have had them run.
Yes the short 14" pieces are the sides, remember
I just added an 8 inch borders around a quilt. It's big, so it was awkward to quilt the border. I still needed to make it bigger so this time I quilted the borders first. I made it 4 inches longer to allow for shrinking and the joined it to the quilt. Thank you for sharing these videos. It didn't occur to me make quilts this way.
Good for you, well done!
Exactly the tutorial i needed! Excellent pattern and video!
Glad it was helpful!
Loved you quilt as you go video! And I love your flower blocks!
Thank you so much!
Hi Monica. My question isn’t really related to the blocks that everyone on this course are doing but amongst all your extensive pieces of quilting and appliqué wisdom, did I read or hear you say that it was possible to quilt your background first, then add your appliqué pieces. Particularly for intricate designs? Sorry rather a long winded question 😀
Yes, you can quilt your background first. I have done this many times before with sketchy applique but only once with blanket stitch. It's about personal preference. I like the look of sketchy applique on the back of a quilt but I'm not keen on the look of the blanket stitch or zigzag on the quilt back. However, if you use a busy patterned backing fabric, the stitching may not be noticeable.
