Hi Bob, I purchased a group of 4 ALCO shells and I am working on converting two for a Halloween train. I added or replaced the lower skirts similar to. your video except I used a heat gun. Worked well. Questions....How do you get the number boards out. I tried to mask the boards but I think my pin stripping tape was old and as soon as I started painting it blew was. Did all Alcos have the front skirt. I made these and cut out the opening for the front coupler. I used super glue and it seems like a solid bond. Thanks for all the great information. Your interest of the tank and Patton's Army is a testament to the liberation of the European Theater of War during WWII, and for us today. When I watch your video I'm reminiscing of the tank battle scene from the movie Patton, starring George C. Scott. Patton is battling to defeat Rommel's Army. Patton's quote: Rommel... you magnificent bastard. And then his voice raises saying: I read your book!

Dad was a tank commander in his Army stint. During his time Georgia was never invaded by anyone. Thx

In addition to Mr. Hewes, check out Aus Armour. It's an Australian Military museum and they do restorations and static displays of all kinds of tanks from WW II and beyond.

Cool. My dad drove tanks back in the late 60s early 70s. He's now 76 he can still tell you what tanks he drove.

That is indeed an M-48 "Patton" tank, and I got a ride in one back in 1975. It's quite roomy inside and well laid-out. The M-48 was a VERY popular tank with the US Army and Marines, lots of virtues and very few vices. This one needs a LOT of TLC! Anyway, there's a YouChannel called "The Chieftain's Hatch" hosted by US Army Lt/Col. Nicholas Moran you should look for. Colonel Moran's a tanker and he takes us to (and inside) many famous tanks around the world. I'm sure he's done the M-48. Thanks for posting!

It's an achievement to see the collection together. I was unaware of the cars displaying the Kelly's Heroes and Silver Streak, they're fantastic. Lionel missed the boat on those movies. Santa Fe, The Chief Way, and Amtrack are fitting, and you saved over $100- for two on one car. I believe the Santa Fe is everyone's favorite, And those billboard combo's are a standout. -nice choice. And the two Silver Streak cars are a fantastic combo and professional too. As I mentioned earlier, Don Bluth's Anastasia and Disney's The Little Mermaid -also excellent. I like seeing the Lionel Presidential series cars. However, I know if you were to take on a similar project, your would improve on Lionel's by showing more than the cramped area on their O27 cars. Would you have an interest to make an Air Force One style color scheme, as on the President George H.W. Bush SD70 ACe diesel engine?

Great . I like the box cars with the metal base. It looks rich with the gold roof.

Was the spray paint even necessary? Looks pretty blank after the sanding. Also, I’ve had good luck with melamine sponges instead of sandpaper.

That’s what I did with my hi-cube. When I applied the decals though, they curled up real bad. I was able to save it I think. I decided to spray the car glossy white instead of flat. I also resprayed the decals with glossy acrylic clear coat. Everything is drying for 48 hours. Then I’ll try again! I’m taking pics to send when I’m done! Can’t wait to see what you make for it! CB

Are you going to buy an airbrush eventually. Must better control for painting. Fairly affordable too.

Bob what program do you use to make your decals for your box cars I have tank cars that I would like ro put new decals on because these tank cars are post war lionel tank cars they all need to be repaired and repainted and re decals

Hi Bob, When I saw the first car, The Kennedy Space Artemis, my first thought was: I did not know that Lionel released Artemis? The car has the perfect pairing of colors and graphics, making a sharp looking train and where can I buy one? And then I did a double take and said wow, wait a minute, that's Bob's creation. I'm hooked following your product line. I don't know if you had shown the origin's of the LED's, its battery pack, and how it's assembled? All of the cars are great. Take care.🙂
