Trackhawk Cold Start with Magnaflow CatBack Exhaust
Trackhawk sounds nice with deep bass tones. To me an exhaust has to sound proper to match the engine, not necessarily whoever has the loudest is the nicest sounding.

    Every keyed ignition made for Humvees that I have tried sucked. Wired correctly. They are janky. Last one I tried was Federal Military Parts oem style keyed ignition switch and it tried starting when in run, instead of cycling the glow plugs. Lot of guys saying any aftermarket switch burns out the smart box, so back to the original switch for me.

    Brother when you say title is that the SF97 ? I’m looking to buy a HMMWV the seller saying its Title but to be registered and insured to be street legal? How do you get it inspected with out a vin? Or insured with out a vin ? I’m from South Texas, any help would be greatly appreciated

    • @mods2rides
      @mods2rides Před 9 měsíci

      Hello. I never heard of an SF97. So these are manufactured by AM General. All of these were, and they all have some vin number on them. The vin I have on mine is not the traditional long vin we are used to like modern cars. However the title I have is the same looking one you get from Texas like a modern car. Says AM General and has the serial number that’s on the vehicle. To get it inspected, just have to pass safety test. Lights, turn signals etc. I know there some out there that never got a title from the DOJ. When I bought mine it had a weird title from the DOJ. I submitted that to the state of texas requesting a Texas title to later go and pass inspection. I’m not sure if that’s the SF97, but if I were to buy one with that I wouldn’t pay the price of one like mine that’s truly registered and titled. The reason bc they’re always changing laws and don’t really know if you will ever get it truly titled or registered. Hope this helps and good luck.

    • @mods2rides
      @mods2rides Před 9 měsíci

      I just looked up SF97. Mine didn’t come with that. Came with a title from the DOJ, I have no idea how or why. But it seems like you can get it titled a lot easier with this SF97. I suppose it’s hit or miss with these kinds of things. When I submitted mine they asked what kind of vehicle it was and said it was similar to a jeep. Don’t say it was from the military, they’ll probably think you’re trying to get a tank or some thing like that lol.

    • @mods2rides
      @mods2rides Před rokem

      No it doesn’t. If you have scratches then watch a tutorial on how to restore scratches. You basically have to grind them down with a felt pad. Like a 2 inch 3m locking disc. Keep in mind that powdercoat is an electrólisis process where current runs through the metal part and the powder sticking. If your surface isn’t metal and clean, when you go to heat the part and the powder to turn liquid and harden it won’t bond you our surface.

    • @mods2rides
      @mods2rides Před rokem

      When ever you do a. Oil change or maintenance of any kind having the best filter will allow you to run the 8,000 miles to the next oil change. When I was young and had my first car you had to do an oil change every 3,000 miles, this was due to the oil filters and oil technologies not being as advanced as they are today. Regardless of the time you do an oil change if you have a crap oil filter that stops filtering at 3-5,000 miles then obviously you cannot wait to do an oil change at 8,000 miles or when ever your car computer tells you. It’s starts creating carbon build up on the oil and the combustion system. Such as you intake manifold, heads, pistons, valve system and more important (since all new cars rely on cpu) oxygen sensors and catalyst converters. By doing the fuel system cleaning how I showed in the video you will clean all your intake manifold and all the other parts mentioned. I had to change an oil pressure sensor on my escalade with 110,000 miles and when I removed the head I was surprised to find no carbon build up. This is due to using high octane fuel and always doing the detergent cleaner like sea foam or fuel system cleaner through the intake vacuum system if your cars engine. It starts to smoke and check engine lights come on bc the system doesn’t know you introduced the fuel detergent. It starts smoking white when you have carbon build up bc it’s getting rid of all the carbon build up and deposits. The longer you leave the detergent the more it’s going to work. For example if you put the sea foam and you smell it working turn off the engine and leave the vehicle for a couple of hours or a day. When you go back to turn it on it’s gonna get rid of everything that’s been on there for a long time. By doing this you can ensure your car to last how ever long the vehicle says to do maintenance. I recently bought a vw tiguan as my daily and they recommend oil change every 10,000 miles. They do this bc they know most people won’t put the extra money to do these kinds of cleaning. So the cars mess up around 100k miles, so they have to go and buy another. I hope this helps if you need help understanding something further please feel free to get in touch with me. Thanks.

      @mods2rides885 very insightful info man i appreciate it. I'm not sure if you have an oil catch can. I just installed it does that help minimize this buiild up ?

    • @mods2rides
      @mods2rides Před rokem

      @@Cris_hcat i do have one on the TH. The purpose of an oil catch can is to collect oil and un burnt fuel into the catch can. The reason you get this mixture of oil and un burnt gas is through a process known as blow by, I which usually ends up in the crank case. This is created bc there’s so much pressure in your combustion chamber that some unburnt fuel goes through the piston rings to the crank case and oil. When you have a an oil catch can it keeps some of that mixture to be captured in the can and preventing it from getting mixed back up in the oil. It’s not really necessary but it does help. If it didn’t then race engines wouldn’t have one. And essentially our engines are race engines, 10 years ago commons street cars didn’t have 700 daily hp.

    • @mods2rides
      @mods2rides Před 2 lety

      @@angelsoverme Honestly I always change the filters in all my vehicles. The new cars come really restricted so they pass emissions and that specific filter on the military humvee was designed to be able to drive through desert storms with out clogging up. Unless you’re gonna be driving through desert storms then the K&N should be fine. I dunno what the facts are for the gentleman who said his got damaged from a filter that lets more air in. The engine is designed to be fully functional without a filter. The filters purpose is just to stop dirt and air particles from clogging the engine and damaging the pistons. People always blame and are scared of what they do not know or understand. I love Florida, I have family there. Unfortunately I’m in west Texas. I’ll get it fixed up. I just realigned some short term goals to able to have good cashflow to fund these projects. Another reason I put the project in hold was that I was about to buy the roof kit with power doors and they don’t make power doors anymore. There’s a company that makes them however they want $15k just for the 4 power doors. Originally Midwest military equipment had quoted me the roof kit with power doors for $9k shipped. Sadly they no longer carry the doors. So I took it as a sign to put it on hold and just pay off all my debt lol.

      You’ll love the TH. Yes I upgraded tot he bwoody suspension with diff stabilizing mounts. I recommend you do this before launching your TH bc the diffs move. You’ll notice a huge handling inprovement. It will feel like a sports car rather than an suv. There is tire wear but very little. You’ll still get wear with regular suspension, especially is you don’t do the bwoody upgrades. This will happen due to the body roll you get.

I want to do something similar in the rear trunk area to help cabin noise now that I have the Magnaflow exhaust. On your SRT you put it in the trunk area where the spare goes? Can you let me know where you bought this and what kind you used? On the Hawk looks like you were going to install on the outside this time around ? before putting the cover back? I am ok to just install some on the inside just to help drown out cabin noise Thank a million!

    Hi friend. I would like to explain better what I did today. the 2 radiators placed in the upper part have been completely disassembled and worked to have them restored. one if I'm not mistaken is that of air conditioning and the other that of engine and transmission oil. As for the latter, first of all, I have a question for you. 1) Should the gear oil level be checked with the dipstick when the engine is running and when it is hot? 2) after draining the coolant from the drain valve, I added 17 liters. How many liters do you need? 3) today I dedicate myself to the level of the engine coolant. I filled the tank to maximum and turned on the h1 from a standstill by turning the main and auxiliary fan to maximum by moving the heater knob completely hot and waiting for the engine to reach normal operating temperature. the car remained stationary during this operation with the engine running without driving. When the engine reached normal operating temperature, I unscrewed the screw of the 2 air bleeds but not a lot of air came out and no coolant came out. because? I'm asking you this because I don't want to cause engine damage and burn the cylinder head gasket. thanks friend . Kings regards Gianfranco

    • @mods2rides
      @mods2rides Před 2 lety

      Hello friend. IMO I think you check the oils when they’re cold. Older manufacturers would recommend this. I don’t recall how many liters the coolant system take. I know it takes Atleast 4 gallons, maybe 5 if I recall correctly. Lastly if you ran the truck and it got hot and you opened it up something, it would probably shoot out due to the built up pressure. What I did was drive it around and made sure it did a few cycles through the new thermostat. You have to pay very close attention to your temperature gauge. If you see the temp gauge get 3/4 of the way then you might have air in the system. If that happens turn on the heater immediately to draw out the heat from the engine. The way I did it to make sure there was no air was that I loosened the lowest coolant hose to try and draw out all the air. If you ever have a car that starts over heating always turn on the heater at full blast and can possible prevent catastrophic engine failure. It’s important that you teach your wife and kids lol. That can be the difference of replacing a water pump vs replacing heads etc. I hope this information helps and good luck.

    • @jimbella9353
      @jimbella9353 Před rokem

      @@hummerguy The "rubber elbow" being discussed is installed on all USMC HMMWVs we build. Rubber elbow or not a HMMWV was not designed to do more than 30 inches (shallow water fording) without the "FULL" Deep Water (for up to 60 inches) Fording Kit installed. Of course there have been some who have tried to go deeper and lived to tell about it!😂 FYI: The entire HMMWV's Air Induction System was very specifically designed to perform in very specific ways. By "modifying" part of that complete system it may affect more than one other system. For example; venting for ALL gear boxes "WAS" dependent on a (calibrated) amount of vacuum created when the engine is running through that "NOW MODIFIED" air induction system!!! PS: [the good part of this modification is if one never drives their HMMWV they will not find out of these modifications will cause gear box seal leaks (insufficient ventilation) or gear box fluids to be sucked into the air cleaner/engine (too much vacuum).
