Make sure to put your other hand on the bottom of the rod for maximum distance as you can put more power into it

when my cast is in the air do i let go of the line before it hits the water???
Let go of the line as you make the cast, then as lure hits the water wait a second then begin to reel. You can also “flip the bail” once it hits the water but reeling in will do it as well.
