Great to see this early performance! I wish they would have also showed Dusty and Tom Jones! Such a pity that these shows focus so much on the singer. At least Keith and Charlie got decent camera time. Poor bass player and rhythm guitarist may as well not have even been there.

Back when the Stones were great. Yea, I love the 70’s & 80’s Stones, but 60’s Stones was real R&R.

Always been a huge fan of the Stones, but in 1965 who the hell would have thought they'd still be selling out stadiums 60 years later. Unmatched career.

Amazing to think of the adventures they were on the cusp of! Just to 1970? And then until today? That's a lot of rolling stones, ideed!

The Beatles were "it," until they stopped touring. They became the best studio rock band ever. Their innovations are without fault. The Stones became the best Rock and Roll band ever by being in the trenches for decades, and making music they could play live. And on a side note, Zeppelin became the standard for "hard blues"rock.

I've always noticed that the Beatles were a lot heavier, then the rolling Stones they just had a better rhythm section, you wouldn't be fair to compare these two guys I know people say they did but anyone that can hear music could tell you that these they're not the same.

They loved southern blues and changed it into rock almost hard rock music.

I've been waiting to hear audio from one of Rags first shows back :) A decent amount of rarities here like Opus Insert, Wheels, and Black Fathom 4

The Stones gave a lot of good LIVE performances on Ed Sullivan, unlike other groups who mostly lip synched.

I lived up North. We had only one channel. Black and white TV. Comes Sunday night I look forward watching the Ed Sullivan. Watching the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and other groups. I was around 7 or 8 at the time. Thanks for the memory.

I never got where the Stones were trying to go. I think it was always about Mick Jagger. You need someone with a big ego and Jagger had that and still has. He tried to go it alone but it never worked. They never reached the heights the Beatles did but they were very successful and still are. It's not really the Rolling Stones because now there's only 2 of the original band left. Ronnie Wood didn't play on the hits. I think Mick Jagger wants to keep it going. Same as Paul McCartney he won't let the Beatles thing die. It's funny 😂there are lots of old interviews where these guys say "No way I'll be doing these songs at 40". Unfortunately the audience want to hear the old stuff. It's nostalgia, close your eyes for a second and your 16 again. The songs were simple pop songs but that was the sixties. I think where the Beatles had the advantage was they became a studio band. The fact that they had Lennon, McCartney, Harrison all doing songs and vocals helped. They could have went on tour but Harrison and Lennon were against it. Lennon suffered stage fright and didn't like playing live. I think after they broke up Mick Jagger was wondering would they be successful solo . They all had some success, Imagine by Lennon, All things must pass by Harrison, Band on the Run by McCartney. Also Rod Stewart left the Faces and had a huge solo career. So Mick thought he'd give it a go. He didn't tell the other members of the band until the record was finished. That pissed off Keith. The solo career never took off so he didn't tour solo. This is the pop business. He also tried his hand at acting as did McCartney. Neither was a really good actor. Even Dylan tried to be an actor but was pretty bad. They are all lucky that they have the old tunes to sing and make people happy.
