My channel is all about bushcrafting, backpacking, outdoor gear, outdoor cooking and generally just having fun outdoors.
I started off backpacking in an attempt to loose weight and have some adventures in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. That slowly changed into shorter hikes with more focus on bushcraft/woodcraft and enjoying camping and camp cooking.
The "Kdawg" part of my channel name comes from some old college buddies that just started calling me Kdawg one day and I thought it was pretty cool and it stuck with me ever since. The "Crazy" part come from the fact that my family thinks I'm nuts for backpacking by myself and camping in the dead of winter. Can't argue with that. LOL.
It's also great to relive each adventure through video and be able to share it all with this awesome outdoor CZcams community.
Thanks for watching... See you on the trail!

My Bushcraft Fire Making Methods - Flint & Steel, Waxed Jute Twine, Mag Lens, Ferro Rod & Many More
In this video I show my most recent bushcraft fire making methods including Flint and Steel with Char Cloth, the DIY Tinder Wick and Bellow which is usually Waxed Jute Twine with a metal straw/cylinder and I attempt fire with a 30X Magnifying Glass Lens. I’ll admit I didn’t do any research or practice with the Lens prior to this video and it was a fail. I’m just starting to play around with using it. Later, I show some fire making methods I’ve used in the past including a Vaseline Cotton Ball, Fat Wood Shavings and Birch Bark all ignited using a Ferro Rod. This summer I plan on perfecting the Lens fire and attempting a Bow Drill fire as well.
Out of all the bushcraft fire making methods I’ve tried, the Tinder Wick and Bellow is the Best! Here are all my pros…no cons so far:
-It can be easily lit with a ferro rod,
-Has a fully adjustable flame
-Safe to handle while lit using the attached bellow
-Water proof and wind proof... mostly
-It can be used to light stoves or all kinds as well as candles
-It can be extinguished very easily
-One will last you for many many fires…depending on how long you need the tip to burn each time
-They are easy to make on a low budget
-The can also be purchased at most big online stores like Amazon and Ebay for very little money.
The wood stoves used in this video are the 5” Firebox Titanium and Stainless Steel versions, the Firebox Nano Ti, the Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox XL and Bushbox LF both in Titanium. Yes, I’m a little spoiled. I have dozens of other wood stoves both stainless steel and titanium but the stoves in this video are the best performing and most versatile of them all.

The RidgeRunner Hammock Night Out and Gear Talk
Thank Jesus or whatever you believe in. The warbonnet walk through is confusing, lol had a few of us here scratching our heads when we got to adding the suspension option. Thank you very much!
What do you store your esbit tablets in? They stink so bad, and I haven’t found any container that keeps the smell from escaping and getting into all my hiking gear!
that was okay dog!
Great ideas you got here mister, thanks for sharing. God bless :)
You got to be careful telling people that you're going to be heating up the small area with a propane heater. You will die from carbon monoxide poisoning
great video, spam sandwich, Awesome. I just bought the Nano. Can't wait to get it & put it to work.
ok i need to give this a try. imad eone out of an old sleeping bag once but used two large shock cord
SS vs Ti really worth $30 more for just 2 oz?
Is that focus ring something you bought or did you make it? More details please.
Where did you get the ‘focus’ ring please?
Are you using your hiking poles to keep the area up above the entryway?
I loved this video. I have one of these but I only used it to boil things, I learned a lot of nifty tricks from watching you. I enjoyed watching and I’ve subscribed. I can learn a lot from you and have fun at the same time. I’m watching from England.
I have tried raising the fuel tablet closer to pot by adding a metal jar lid sitting on the Disc. This improved water boil using 1 pill shaped fuel tablet. 1 cup of water. Difficult to get the Esbit fuel tabs here in Australia. This stove/pot stand is great with the Trangia T28 Mini also.
with that small of stove you would be up all night feeding it
The only video I've ever seen outside of the Firebox channel that actually shows the functionality of one of the stoves. Outstanding! I wish there were more content creators in the world like this guy. Less fluff, more meat and potatoes, sometimes literally.
This is very true! 👍
Eye see I already commented 8 years ago...oh how the tyme flyz.
Hey buddy how are you? Quick question I love the idea of having the tote inside never thought of that how many gallon or what size is your tote? I know is being 4 years so if you don't remember is ok.... Thank you!
Excellent teepee! But stop playing fool! it doesn't look good.
Your crazy
I'm 1/2 Native American ( Cheyenne) and my ancestors heated teepee's with a fire for generations, and some Eskimo's way up north still do!
Great review. Thanks for sharing 👍
Pretty awesome storage.
Wondering why you used two tablets instead of one ??? Thanks great video.
He’s annoying!
Mmmm, delicious, camcer causing black crust.
I have a self inflatable mountain design. Then I grit my teeth and spent $75Au on sea to summit. Wow! Money well spent. Fantastic pillow
Used my wifes hair pin. We are here on the holiday and had issue getting the air out until I found your video. Thanks man for sharing this!
it seems that if the rubber band isn't as strong as you would have wished, you could just use the way you are holding the tongs to apply more or less pressure (based on where you grip the tongs in relations to the folcrum, no?)
I know that dutch oven ppls like to put coal on top. LOL. not sure if that really helps. lol
I love your personality, would be great to have you come back and post more videos
wow this guy is stupid and has no idea what he is doing
Could you tell more about the focus ring? What it made from or where do you got it?
Used a drum liner just like the Indians did. 😂
Miss you. All the best to you.
Love your style, love your demonstrations, and I'll subscribe. But dude. That is not healthy grub 😬 😵💫 🫣😱
Great 3 part series 👍👍
Hey, I saw a video where you were going to shorten the dog bones on your ridgerunner. How did it work?
You're brave eating KFC spicy buffalo sauce in the woods 😂
Don’t. Use. Pine. As. Firewood. Use hardwood and make sure it’s dry, it will not smoke like crazy. Build up fire in stages. As soon as I saw you cutting pine I knew disaster was imminent lol
Is the solitaire better than the midori 1? How does it fit for a man 6'2"?
I’d suggest driving a few large wooden stakes around your fire (approximately 40mm diameter, 60cm long) to minimise the risk of you and your bedding getting close to the fire. I’ve looked after far too many people who’ve come a cropper rolling into their fire when sleeping.
Not to be cutting on your gear, But you will be feeding that fire all night long. When and how do you plan to sleep? Looks great for a summer kit.
I have the same tent.....It does not have a mesh door, instead it is a solid one and the condensation is enormous. Yes it is light and great for 2 people but......Big Fail BA! However your solution which I have used with an OR Helium Bivy to make a huge vestibule that is more open, is a very practical one.
Great choice of stove! That said, real men drink coffee. Kick that tea to the curb or let the cows graze on it.
I like your EMS it burner setup!
Why do “bushcrafters” 🙄 insist on using a saw on sticks they can easily just break off with one hand?
Damn dude, blow gently into that cloth! More people start the nest by waving it than trying to blow the freakin cloth out the back of the nest! Also, you need to change your eating habits if you want to have any hope of losing 35 pounds at your age. Soda, hot chocolate, enough food for 3 people? C’mon man, turn it around before it’s too late!
Miss your videos. Hope your well. Please come back!
Thank you Bret. I'm hoping to start up some new videos this summer and a new job.
Wow great video! So many great ideas! Thank you!🎉
Great views of the new tent and loved the cooking
Thanks!
