Everything Joni does is great but that period from court and spark up to don juans wreckless daughter is just sublime . Poetically and musically in a place that nobody else could even think of touching ( and I’m including the big zim here). A talent that continues to shine so brightly and differently today as it did then. Nobody does it like Joni
Apart from Joni's great performance, you have got to admire the musicianship and versatility of The Band. This piece is miles away from their own kind of music, yet they pull it off effortlessly. Garth's busy keyboard supplements the original arrangement. Also, they had the good sense not to add any backup vocals to this one.
