Here are some real truths about living here. If you are relocating move somewhere outside Bowling Green. The traffic is horrific. Scottsville Rd is horrible. Don’t be in a hurry because it can take 30-40 minutes to go 2 miles. If you are wants good healthcare plan on either driving to Nashville, Louisville or Lexington. There is a shortage of quality healthcare providers. The healthcare system in this area is deplorable. If you are wanting to die go to either one of the hospitals. They are only a step up from a bandaid station. If you are needing any type of testing such as an MRI plan on waiting at least 2-3 months for an appointment. This guy is full of crap. The issue with traffic is because these idiots don’t know how to drive the speed limit. The speed limit is 45 but most of these morons only do 25-30. Bowling Green has outgrown their infrastructure that’s what the issue is. If you have an appointment plan on leaving an hour before if you want to make your appointment or get to work on time.

Moving here from Florida 2 years ago I absolutely love it here! It took me 2 hours to travel to work from Lake Pannasoffkee to Orlando when it should have been 1 hour. I was 60 miles from work one way. The traffic there in Florida is what caused me to move to Kentucky. Not one traffic jam ever since living here. I travel from Rockyhill to Bowling Green (30 miles) with no traffic issues ever! At 58 years old I plan on dying here

Bowling Green is ugly and nasty I lived there for 9 months and hated every minute of it! They are 20 years behind! Everyone goes to get a spray tan and come out looking orange! Very unclean place full of gloom!!

Moved here from Florida to Rockyhill, KY near Smithsgrove and 30 miles from Bowling Green. We absolutely love it here! I work at Kobe Aluminum (KAAP) and the pay is very awesome! And no development planned where i live out here in the country. 3200 SQ foot farmhouse on 4 acres. 155k is all i paid for our home! $1200 a year for property taxes! Edmonson county

Here’s a # 1 reason not to move to Bowlinggreen. Bowlinggreen is NOT, repeat NOT wheelchair friendly. Especially the train museum! Just try to prove me wrong!

My wife & I moved to Alvaton from the suburbs of Rochester, NY about 4-years ago. We bought a house valued about the same as our home in Rochester. Taxes were $8200 a year up north and $1700 a year in Kentucky. I built a 30'x40' bluilding for my hobby interests with NO zoning hassle at all. Got my building permit in a month or so of applying and had it up in three months after that. Zoning people couldn't have been and friendlier and helpful. Contrast that with Rochester, where they seem to delight in throwing obstacles in your way to delay a project as long as possible. We really love it here. I love the country life, but also like to go to SKYPAC for cultural events or many of the better restaurants and locally owned diners for a great meal. Beech Bend Park for the grandchildren & drag racing. I'm 77-years old and am sorry I didn't get here sooner, but I found the place I plan to die in.

I agree with every point you made. My wife & I visited B.G.3 or 4 times a year for about 15-years, to see our daughter and her family, and we fell in love with the area. Originaly from Upstate, N.Y., we felt increasingly alienized politically in our birth place, When we decided to down-size, Bowling Green (actually, Alvaton) was the destination we wanted, hands down. Been here 4+ years and love every aspect of it (well, y'all could dial-down the summer humitity, a bit). I tell everyone I meet that we ESCAPED from NYS after considering politics, weather, finances and the friendliness of Kentucky, and after 4+ years, we're so glad we did!

Was born here and actually left after the 10th grade. My only problem with all the progress is the lack of things happening in the black community whats left of it. Most of the historical history is erased and has not been kept by people that are still there. The greyhound bus company no longer exists and exhausting in the that most events you are the only person of color there. Blacks that attend Western seem out of the loop and wouldn't know where to start for a colorful ethnic reality that would make those that used to live want to return. Just saying.

When our family moved here from st louis with the corvette plant, we called it ‘boring green’ , now I think of it more as ‘growing green’. Nice enough place to live and work. We’ve raised 4 kids here and we’re not sorry. Fairly diverse population, plenty of fried chicken. But this guy is correct, please don’t move here and eat all the fried chicken….and everyone is packing heat.

Super safe, can commute 20 miles in 30 min, tons of jobs, beautiful countryside, plethora of sit down restaurants, active community, 4 golf courses, drag strip, 5 high schools, great university.... Apt, complex refuses to fix anything the manager is absolutely the worse person I've ever dealt with in my life, maintenence is lazy complete liars and will not address any issues in this apt, from day 1 . More reasons not to move to Bowling Green, Ky: 1. Traffic is terrible, especially Scottsville Rd. 2. No affordable housing. 3. Not a lot a well paying jobs. 4. Panhandles on many intersections 5. Inefficient and wasteful public transportation 6. Crime is on the rise.

Are you a realtor? We are from WI and are planning on relocating to BG. We are interested in new construction. My husband will be in BG a few days prior to memorial day to look around and talk to a couple of builders. We donot have a realtor representing us.
