Help my dog please.
“We try to leave no stone unturned.” Unreal that you say this. Your oncology department had a feline patient with mixed cell size gastric lymphoma and chose to downgrade his diagnosis to small cell/indolent despite the mixed cells and significant recent progression of symptoms. The cat died five weeks later and you tried to defend your oncologist and gaslight his guardian (me). Eventually you (defensively) admitted the further work-up should have been done but still claimed you didn’t understand what the problem was nor say you would make efforts to influence change in this vet or the department. I cry every night thinking of how powerless I am to protect the animals that end up in your hospital’s care.

Cute
This doctor is a pathologically arrogant scumbag. I brought an extremely sick cat in to him with a recent diagnosis of intermediate cell gastric and duodenal lymphoma, and he insisted my cat was not very sick; that the cancer was low-grade and should be treated as such. He had the gall to tell me the blood I'd seen in Max's vomit was not blood because it did not look the way he'd read in the literature that it should look - "streaks or coffee grinds," and that my cat's profuse vomiting multiple times a day for two months was due to something *other than the cancer.* He wouldn't do an ultrasound despite Max having lost a whole pound (12% of his body weight) in the month since the last ultrasound. Two weeks later my cat was in an emergency state with pleural effusion from the spread of the lymphoma to his chest, and large lymphoma cells were found in the fluid. Three weeks after that, he was dead. And when I told Dr. Vail he had died and that the cancer had in fact been very aggressive, and that I would need for him to assure me that this would not be happen with another pet in his care, all he could say was "condolences for your loss" and that he was forwarding my message to the hospital director. No apology for or even response about his mistakes, and no assurance about future pets/clients. And I had cc'd the medical oncology team email and they responded the same way. Please, do not take your pet to UW Madison for oncology care, and especially do not take them to Dr. Vail.
Holy heckins, this is the goodest boy ever - we're so happy for you Scout!
