How many acres does the tractor work on?
Agricultural machinery is a symbol of modernization, transforming the traditional methods of farming into more productive and profitable ones.🎉🎉🎉
you work very hard and you harvest the labor of your works, keep up the good work and perseverance! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.
Nice pivot! Looks like R3000 rotators down the pipe and a SR75 end gun!

Thank you!
Congratulations on reaching 1000. And your upcoming mission. I will look forward to seeing your videos when you start up again. Not sure I'm going to hold my breath to wait and see if your dad or uncle make any lol.
Thanks! You're probably right, the chance of them making any videos is slim, but I'm hopeful!
Good luck Elder! Looking forward to seeing you as an Aggie! I live just west of Logan, I have friends that teach at USU Enjoy!
Thank you! I'm excited to attend USU, it's a great place!
@@idahofarmlife if I am still kicking when you get to USU I'll have to come over and get some Aggie Ice Cream with you!
Congrats on your mission call man! You are doing the same thing I did about almost 10 years ago. I left January 12, 2012, and came home January 2, 2014. I served in Columbus Ohio for 18 months and may last 6 months was in Fort Wayne Indiana or Cincinnati Ohio mission. It was a fun experience and very rewarding! Good luck with all your plans!
Thanks! It's cool that you got to serve in two missions! I'm excited, 2 days to go!
Oh wow that’s coming up fast!!! Good luck out there, and all I can say is work hard and be your self out there and enjoy your mission! Because time flies when you’re on your mission.
What does the term “floating gears” mean? Are you just shifting clean asf or smthn?
In a way, yes. Floating gears means to shift without the clutch. You just match the speed and engine rpm perfectly, so your shifter just "floats" into the next gear. If you do it wrong, the gears will grind, but it you do it right, it makes shifting easier. Smaller transmissions in cars and pickups require use of the clutch, floating gears isn't good on them. However, bigger transmissions in semis are tougher and can handle the gears being floated.
@@idahofarmlife I've never driven a semi, so I can't compare. But I've shifted every manual car I've owned without the clutch. Yes, there was a bit of gear grinding as I learned, but once I learned, it wasn't too hard and I rarely missed. Learned to downshift without the clutch as well. That's a bit trickier.
@@oldguydoesstuff120im a trucker, and Ive drove many manual cars, i own one now to go back and forth to work with, not using the clutch will 100 percent screw your transmission, they’re not meant to be shifted without the clutch.. a tractor is completely different, they literally fall into gear, its actually easier in the clutch to float gears because you’re putting zero wear on it.
A good owner-operator floats the gears to save the clutch. Because transmissions and clutches are expensive. Once you get good, the gears simply fall into place as you match your R. P. M and speed through the upshifts. And then you can also downshift through. The Jake brakes and float the gears. That way, the only time a good driver uses. The clutch is to get the truck in first gear or reverse and moving around. A yard or something
Well, good luck and take care. I guess we'll look for some new videos in about 2 years.

I wish I had 1 acre of dirt that would work that nicely. Out of 5600 I do not!
Howdy Idaho farm
The round up ready beets have made growing beets much nicer. You can live with a little trash we used to have to plow and have no trash in the beds so you could run the cutaways and knives up close on the first cultivation and any trash would plug up and take a row of beets out. Since they've come up with the roundup ready beets nobody even cultivates they just furrow out for the water. Rows and to harvest. Have a good day.
Howdy Idaho farm
I was working right above you I the first pivots off the main road you turned by to get to that area if you come next year we could meet up
Unfortunately, I think they've got enough full-time help now that there won't be any need for me to go there again. Maybe I'll have another chance someday, but I'm not counting on it. In the future I'll have enough farm work of my own, that I probably won't have much time to work for other people. Thanks for watching!

It's in the name of the pivot. TL, tower loss,,, Annoying that it has happened. Nice dirt, will produce a lot of beets.

You have to give them treats to get them to move
Get all your tillage done. It looks like we might have some rain over the weekend. It's been so nice this last couple weeks. It's spoiling us some years at Thanksgiving it's been plumb froze up.
We finished up earlier this week. Now we don't have to worry about it raining!
Lol there is definitely not a shortage of rocks in that area.
Now that you guys are going beets down there, it'd be nice if the old beet dump was still open
There's enough dumps around that the haul isn't too bad. When there wasn't much of a line at the dump, the digger didn't wait very long for the next round of trucks. A few more trucks would have been perfect.
Back 30 years ago there was a lot more beets grown around that area with 4 pilers north of town where are you go now and 2 pilers south of town. Then the sugar company reduced the south dump to 1 piler for about 10 years before closing it completely and selling the ground. I don't know if you are old enough to remember the beet dump being there but you are very familiar with the ground it was on LoL. We dug and hauled a lot of beets in to that dump years ago. Alot of the tare dirt got dumped on your grandpa's ground for a few years.
Who exactly are you? I only ask because I've tried really hard not to give away my location, but you seem to be familiar with the area as well as my family.

Your vids were a pleasure to watch. I am from the Netherlands and we store the sugar beets on the headlands of the fields or sometimes at the side of a road if there is sufficient space for safe storing. The suger plants get out to get the beets themselves. Mostly through custom guys loading.
How is the crop yield
Around 40 tons per acre
Get the dogs to bring them around.
Unfortunately, we don't have cow dogs. We just have to herd cows ourselves.
Hey, i was wondering why self-propelled swathers are used there instead of a 30ft triple mowers on a tractor? Getting ready to move to idaho
I think a big reason is that they are fairly new in our area, only one farmer has one that I've seen, and Claas is the only company that sells them here. However, self-propelled swathers from all brands are sold here, so you have more of a selection. Another reason is that you also have to have a tractor with a front 3 point and pto to run the mower, and such tractors are hard to find. So you either have to get one shipped in from somewhere (possibly the factory), or buy a normal tractor and install a front 3 point and pto on it yourself. Finally, most people in our area don't have enough acres to justify purchasing and piecing together that setup since even a used tractor and triple mower would cost anywhere from 3 to 4 hundred thousand dollars. I personally would not be against a triple mower, but for those of us who bale, I think I swather leaves better windrows for a rake to pick up. A triple mower hardly leaves any gap between the windrows, which makes it work better to use with mergers that run in front of choppers.
@@idahofarmlife interesting. I figured it was an availability thing. Interesting on the kind of windrow. I just figured a windrow thrown out wide would help with drying, but that probably isn't a huge issue in idaho. I'm looking to get into custom farming and was curious.
You do want the windrow wide; however, it's just the spacing between the three mowers on the tractor places the hay closer together than a swather does. If you are just getting into the business, a swather would be the more justifiable option compared to the triple mower, especially with custom jobs as they can navigate land better. Most custom swathing jobs that I've done involve little 5 to 10 acre fields where a triple mower would be a nuisance.
@@idahofarmlife yeah I noticed that with the triple mowers. Not sure if I'll get into the cutting end of it or stick with my original plan on custom hay stacking. The area im moving to, there are no large square hay stackers that I have seen.
Those are some good looking herfords you have in that group!
Thanks!
My wife and I just bought 5 pregnant heifer Herefords about a month ago and we are pretty excited for them to calve out next fall to see what we get for calves!
From what I've seen, typically as long as the moms are healthy, the calves will be as well. Then you just hope the heifers are good mothers!
I think they will be a good bunch of mothers, they seem pretty mellow little docile, plus they looked really good when we bought them. We are putting the bulls in the middle of this month, so if any of them slip. We have another chance of them getting pregnant

I'm from New Zealand. To plant the beets perfectly like that, round with the pivot, do you just plant off the pivot wheel marks of each tower?
Our tractors all have GPS systems on them, so we just have to drive along a pivot track once to get the circle, and then the GPS will drive the tractor in a circle the rest of the time.
