Delbert's Delbert. Always at least great if not transcendent. In this case the song and the fabulous Ashley Cleveland would have been better served had they split the verses. Like, "She's got a big Oldsmobile." "I got a dog that won't bite." "She's got a heart I can steal." "Yeah, he's like thief in the night." "She's got a slow burning fire." "I keep my radio low. But, when I get inspired" (together: "We let the good times roll!" Then the chorus" "Our love has no strings, no shackles or chains, but we're holding on for dear life. It's like rollin' a 7 everytime we roll the dice." Our band does this song. We've had female guest singers come up. That's what we do and it's really effective. But, like I said, Delbert's Delbert and he's gonna do what he's gonna do. lol

I didn’t know who Brownie was at the time but when I saw this episode in ‘88 I was mesmerized. After seeing Crossroads in ‘86 I feel in love with the Blues but Brownie and Sonny soon became my favorite of all time. Their version of Key to the highway is my all time favorite tune. My life wasn’t the same after hearing Brownie in this Family Ties episode. I was inspired to pick up the guitar after seeing Purple Rain (Prince) in ‘84 but after seeing Brownie in this episode I had to learn his style. Love playing his songs. Thanks Michael J Fox and Rip Brownie🤎🎸

Nothing wrong with Di Meola here, he' s only twenty and plsys great, but i miss the intensity and feel of Bill Connors. When I was in my teens and listened to RTF i liked both Bill and Al, and was very impressed by the speed of the latter. I even tried to play like that nyself. Now 50 years later, Connors has held up better over time. Is this only me or does someone else feel the same out there? Stanley and Lenny are fantastic as always and RIP Chick! Greetings to all RTF fans from Sweden!

I love this band and I love all Al's recordings up to and incl the "Casino"-album. After that his music hasn't been as enchanting as in the beginning. Note, if you missed it, Al did some great stuff with Stomu Yamashta too.

Roy wasn't always pleasant listening but he was intense, he knew a lot of tricks, and they all came out. He could be melodic or a scorcher. What I appreciated was he didn't use any pedals and only had that Telecaster early in his career. Danny Gatton was his friend (genius need company) technically Danny plays rings around Roy. Roy however has that " sound" unique... last of the guitar heroes for me after Hendrix. The "new" generation are technically more advanced, but they don't have the soul.

I don't think I'll ever get over this episode. Love the show more than any other, and this, in my opinion, was the best move that the executives made, which was to bring the great Brownie MacGhee on the show. Alex watches Eddie Dupree with such respect and love, which is exactly what I'd do. You can't top the likes of Brownie McGhee! The very last scene, which isn't included in this clip where they give each other a thumbs up... God, that's so emotional!❤

  • @prathameshbhambure

This episode teared me up so good. Loved that exchange between Eddie & Alex when Alex smiles looking at him. They all look innocent as an infant here, don't they? The end... oh lord, when they give each other a thumbs up. That's the most wholesome moment my heart's ever known.❤ #longlivetheblues
