Physician and pain researcher Amy Baxter MD invented mechanical stimulation as way to utilize the physiology of gate control to reduce pain. Found this video in July 2024 when nasal irrigation’s efficacy as a COVID prevention measure is much more established in the literature (but few members of the public like me know about it). I’m astonished Dr. Baxter made this video in the earliest days of the pandemic and wish I had found it much sooner since this is such a simple and affordable thing almost anyone can do at home. Thank you Dr. Baxter!
since Buzzy works by stimulating the Pacinian corpuscles/mechanoreceptors, I wonder if it would help improve balance in people with wobbly ankles (connected to aging and previous sprains).
Is there a way you can remove the elastic band from the back of the bee if we don’t want to use the ice pack?
nice summary!
only costs $1500. Priceless, if you are of means.
This video was so helpful knowing as a patient better Buzzy placement! I think I may need to get one of those straps, might be much easier to hold it down in any kind of scenario!
Your bs study seems to be the only one that says it doesnt work
"If you use nasal irrigation, 240 cc, which is basically a cup, twice a day with saline..." Frankly, I couldn't make heads or tails of your description. 240 cc of what? Betadine? Distilled water? What concentration? Normal saline? Since the stock concentration is dependent, to avoid misunderstanding, I believe one should always state the final concentration of the solution, hopefully in the percentage. That stated, I understand that the stock concentration of Betadine (R) is 5% Povidone-Iodine (PVP-I).

I have recently purchased and received a VibraCool Extended with the intention of using this to help me address the pain of my daily migraine spikes. I have (non-scientifically) noted that the vibration frequency seems to be about 185Hz. Is there anything special about this frequency in terms of blocking the pain signals? I have initially experienced some head pain reduction while I use the VibraCool and extending for a limited time afterwards. I hope to experiment on my own with different vibration frequencies/waveforms/vibration intensities combined with targeted cold therapy to reduce the disability of my daily pain. Any additional information you can give me may be helpful in this quest, as all medications and other treatments that I have tried have been ineffective. Thank you…BrotherDan
Thank you, enjoyed your ideas!
It appears that there wasn't a needle on the syringe when "the injection" was given? Can you create a video whereby a real injection is given?
There are numerous - check out "Tenley gets Enbrel" or "how to get a flu shot without a freakout". Some people actually pass out watching a real needle go in, so we don't have them on many of the injection videos out of respect for that.

My problem is I lost my taste and smell for four months and I still haven’t gotten them back I was wondering will rinsing my nose out make a difference?
Sadly probably not. The nerves need to regrow. There are some smelling protocols online - trying to smell strong familiar scents daily of I recall correctly
Have you regained your taste and smell? Hope you're doing ok!
The possibility of vaccine injury combined with low risk from the virus is a great reason for 10yr Olds to not get vaxd
Wow! Advocate for "vaccines" and masking. That's hard to believe, even at the date this was made (9/21). No one ever thought masks worked to impede viral transmission or ILI (influenza like illness), even Fauci, until they turned their backs on all the previous peer-reviewed science and then said "masks work to stop the spread of ILI, "covid-19" viruses". And this person bought into it! As for the "vaccines" efficacy and safety, reputable people in various fields have noted significant "problems", including with the manufacturers' trial data itself, since before the "vaccines" became available, and after, the record is clear. Surely this person should have been aware of that information. So, what, she's quintuple vaxxed now? And still wears a mask? If not, why not?

@@BuzzyHelps sea salt or other non-iodine salt?
@@buckeye43210 Any is fine, even with iodine, it's going straight in and out - but don't add betadine anymore. No good data for efficacy, and after prolonged use straight iodine WILL change some TSH levels.
Been nasal rinsing since 2020. So far, haven’t tested positive for Covid nor any other viral infection. I wear a mask indoors consistently, nasal rinse daily and practice good ventilation at home. I also gargle w/ diluted hydrogen peroxide. Can you talk about effective gargling solutions? I tried diluted povidone iodine but hearing your results on it, I may discontinue.
There was a study which found that povidone iodine, listerine, and a few others reduced viral load but listerine was best. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jmv.26514 See Table 3. I'm personally using listerine, and Betadine only if I'm concerned about bacterial sinusitis

<--- I've been doing Nasal flush / irrigation for about one month. I do it in the shower because it can be kind of messy. I feel my nasal passage is SO much cleaner after i get out of the shower. So i really look forward to doing it, believe it or not. I use to do it with povidone iodine 0.5%, but recently switch to baking soda + non iodize salt combo as some doctors on YT warned against using iodine. I even use a couple drops of baby wash in the solution.
Agree, we no longer advocate povidone-iodine for viral prevention or treatment based on the results of our study. There is good data for bacterial sinus infections, but not viral. The shampoo it seems doesn't penetrate the mucous layer, so it may not be helpful but hard to imagine it can hurt (unless it does!)
Dr. Thank you for the nasal irrigation. And honestly it can’t hurt. My doctor turned me on to this. But on a different note, I was diagnosed with neuropathy. I have damage right down to the root of my spine. Initially I was put on 300 mg of gabapentin and also taking K-2 and Boron in the hopes of not taking Gabapentin. I had kidney cancer and had a partial Nephrectomy.Sorry seriously want to be as careful as natural as possible about a week ago my doctor said that the gabapentin may not be as good so now he started me on 75 mg of pre-Gabalin believe is the generic for lyrica any ideas of substitution will be appreciated and definitely will run it by my doctor..thank u
We're SO sorry - Dr. Baxter is a pediatric doc, and knows a fair bit about pain but not enough to feel comfortable advising about adult issues she never saw clinically.
Hi there, at 6:34 you say that you have trouble w the piece of paper that covers the sticky oval portion of the tape (the part that is shaped like an oval & goes right under your transmitter - just look at 6:34). I just wanted to let you know that you can definitely take that piece of paper off while the sensor is inside the insertion device, before you put it into your arm. Then when you insert it into your arm the sticky portion immediately sticks to your skin. The only thing you have to be careful of is to make sure that the sticky portion stays nice & flat inside the insertion device. I’ve been doing this for many many years & still look for suggestions as to how to pull out the needle inserter w one hand but I’ve been able to do it. Most people though, do take off that piece of paper while it’s in the insertion device so I thought if you get this you might be happy to hear that the part (that you just said something like “this part always gets me“ right at that 6 1/2 minute mark) is not necessary, you can remove it in the insertion device & save yourself that whole awkward step. Thanks for the video 😊
What % of povidone iodine can safely and effectively be used in a neti pot?
I'm no longer advocating povidone iodine for viruses. In our study it was the one hospitalization, and in other studies it works for bacterial infection but not viral
For people like me that keep forgetting the items and measurements. NeilMed sinus rinse bottle Water boiled for 5 mins then cooled or distilled water. 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp of salt half tsp of Povidone-iodine solution 10%
Great info - thank you ! I began daily nosewashing in 1995 and have not missed a day since. After sinus surgery in 1995 to correct my deviated septum and remove middle turbinates my ENT told me to do daily nasal washing. He told me at the first sign of a cold to add Betadine to my irrigation water. In these 26 years since then I have had very few colds and the flu only once. I was able to recover from those few colds without medical help by adding the Betadine to my nasa irrigation water. It prevented any bacterial infection. If you reduce the viral load you reduce transmission is what I tell people I know. They reply that salt water can not KILL Covid so I say I never said that I only say it lessens the chance you will get sick or if you are sick that you'll spread germs.
Actually someone cited my paper because hypertonic saline inactivated omicron’s furin cleavage site. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.16.21262044v3
How does 240 cc measure in terms of ounces?
Sorry, check out earlier videos for more details on method. it's 8 oz, and all the commercial irrigation units come with packets of the saline mix
At 7:30 -- "half a teaspoon" of what? mixed in 240cc of what? I have no idea what you're talking about.
Again, look at the earlier videos. Don't worry about extra additives, there was no difference between additives, it's the saline flushing that was effective in this study.
I imagine half a teaspoon of premix saline powder (non-iodine salt and baking soda) into 240cc of distilled, stiralized or boiled water.
She says NO reason not to.
Wish people were not so about experimental and unproven “medicine” and wish others weren’t for forcing or persuading the use of it. And I’m not talk about the nasal irrigation. That is process of prevention and practice that IS safe FOR SURE NO DOUBT that helps AND protects.
Well, we are extremely supportive of proven medicine, defined as multiple studies showing the intervention reduces illness and death. We are also very supportive of witholding judgement on ideas with solid physiologic mechanisms while they are being tested, and we are supportive of multiple right answers and synergistic treatments. We are skeptical of all results with a single positive or negative study, even our own. And we are opposed to continuing to support ideas that are conclusively disproven unless a variable changes. And yeah, Chris - we support prevention, which is why we're super pro-vaccine!
Trying tomorrow for sinus infection
This is 20 months old but I have been doing this for the last year or so, not as often as I would like to (2x day) but pretty regularly. So far, so good. And my sinuses overall are much much better. Breathing freely is an awesome thing ;)

Variations on the theme!: czcams.com/video/yCPcCtlWQvA/video.html
Just got over it myself for me it was a very weird one! It started for me with nightsweats and a dry cough and my body got extremely cold. I had no fever. It then turned into a nasty cough. I started to get better within 5 days and now it's slowly tapering off. It really did not bother me to much in the day,but boy at night it was not fun! This thing really activated at night. It was weird because when I got up at night and turn on the lights I felt alot better....I said if my children got it I would make them sleep with the lights on. medicine I used A high quality liquid iron, I used a nebulizer I brought from Amazon. I took zinc called Zicam and vitamin d3. It seemed to be more aggravating then deadly. I've had colds that were way worse, but this was not a walk in the park🤣 day 8 and symptoms are almost gone. oh yeah at the end I begin to spit up a little phlegm. Try to keep ur body warm!!!!!
Were you vaccinated? Just to gauge how rough with or without.
@@BuzzyHelps No am not vaccinated.
The fact that it's been 4 weeks and I'm literally your 1st like is disappointing.
Just to add my experience (I'm from SA). I've got infected with Covid - I dunno which strain. In the beginning it was nothing but a sore throat, about three days later (yesterday), I ran a 40 degree fever, felt like I was dying, I have bad diarrhea, constantly nauseated, have extremely bad lower back pain, my legs hurt. I'm feeling shaky. I broke my fever with a suppository (not fun) and keeping a cold compress on my forehead, breaking the fever made a big improvement. I have no chest pain at all, no problem with breathing. Today I'm feeling better than yesterday (in the fever sense), but the pain is still all here. If I can just say one thing, especially to skeptics, try your best not to get this thing, you will regret it, it sucks so bad.
I’m glad you’re feeling somewhat better. How many doses of vaccine had you gotten?
@@mmjlabs I'm not vaccinated
@@fpsdyl Ah, got it. Yeah, Omicron is (as you generously shared) just as nasty as the other COVID variants if you're not vaccinated. I'm still very worried about long covid cardiac, brain, and lung impacts, and kidney failure is widely documented as a rare but measurable issue. Thanks for sharing your story, and I hope it prompts people to get protected! COVID is HARSH!
And by the way, it's not just psychological issues we are dealing with. Look up Needle Phobia and Malignant Vasovagal Syndrome on pubmed. In some people the physical response to phobia can be quite severe. Some people also can react with paralysis, angina, afib, some type of neurocardiogenic shock, paroxysmal hypertension. The only people who get taken seriously are those that code because the medical personnel are basically forced to acknowledge it. All these people, at best, get turned over to a specialist who also doesn't understand or believe the connection. These patients, knowing the medical world has no clue what to do about them, just avoid the medical system. There is one study that came out of Harvard recently about the relationship between amygdala ratios in the brain and takotsubo cardiomyopathy, and last I heard the function neurological people were investigating the role of the periaqueductal gray in the mid brain in seizures, but this is all so new try explaining that to a phlebotomist in a small town hospital. It's hard to say how many people like this are out there. There is so much stigma to this and even doctors and nurses rarely have any idea these things exist, so most people just don't talk openly about it.
Yep. I do think it’s going to be impossible to ignore with the need for new vaccines every 6 months or so. Thanks for sharing I’ll look the new study up. I’m also getting interested in trying stress breathing and meditation after a procedure (or even after exposure therapy) for when it’s not a pure vasovagal reaction. They are doing a Buzzy study on the vagal response for IM.
I'm TERRIBLY afraid of needles and I have a few questions: 1) on a scale of one to ten, how much would a flu shot hurt with a Buzzy? 2)I recently bought Numb520 numbing cream; do you think using it with the buzzy would help?
So sorry we missed this! 84% of adults felt no pain with Buzzy when getting a flu shot. For kids, Buzzy reduced the amount of pain 74% for a TDaP. And yes, use both! No reason not to. And focus on breathing!
Would this work with numbing cream?
There was a study done to see how much using Buzzy + numbing cream helped, and it was most useful for dark-skinned patients (I think the study specified Black patients). That said, many of our kids with chronic illnesses or cancer and women on IVF use both. Numbing cream and vibration only are good with superficial pain, cold and vibration good for deeper. No harm in using both!
@@BuzzyHelps what does the color of skin have to do with feeling pain? Isn’t that the same thinking that led to the experimentation of Black women, specifically Black slaves, by doctors in which they wouldn’t even try to administer any pain relief because they thought that “Black people feel no pain”? I’d like to know scientifically why it is thought that melanin affects sensation of pain supposedly
@@h3artands0uLL The difference is not about feeling pain, it’s that skin of color typically has higher amounts of lipids and tighter junctions between cells preventing absorption of topical anesthetics. There are plenty of inadequate or damaging studies implying racial differences in medicine which don’t exist, as well as horrific examples from Tuskeegee Airmen being denied treatment to Henrietta Lacks' cells used without permission to of course the monstrous experiments by the obstetrician JMS whose name I won't even type. However, dermatologists of color have published excellent reviews with guidelines to show what we do and do not know about skin care to support better care of people. Here’s one article, there are many similar trying to make sure people of color get the best care for skin despite literature that has often been white-focused. When it comes to pain, we want to make sure practitioners and patients with darker skin know the lipid content may mean topical anesthetics need longer to work well. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34232006/ We also want people to know that black and brown people often DO experience more pain (e.g. with childbirth) and are STILL undertreated compared to white women. www.reuters.com/article/us-health-postpartum-pain/black-hispanic-mothers-report-more-pain-after-delivery-but-get-less-pain-medication-idUSKBN1XM2R4

We know the extent of side effects from COVID-19 vaccines. Throughout the history of vaccination, if there are going to be side effects, they declare themselves within the first 2 months, with one exception (rotavirus) three months. We know the incidence of myocarditis, Bells Palsy, guillame barre, sinus venous thrombosis etc. with Covid Vaccines. Across the board, these side effects are less severe and likely by orders of magnitude than the incidence of catching COVID. Where we see the role of nasal irrigation is reducing the incidence and severity of breakthrough cases despite vaccination, and for populations and countries where vaccination isn't yet available. That said, if you have caught COVID protection is strong. With one vaccine on top of the disease, protection may last a LIFETIME!
