Transcription of Offertorio by Men I Trust
I made this transcription a while back so I can't remember how accurate it is. There were a few sections where I struggled to pick out all the voices but I tried my best. Also, giving the voices as two tenors and two basses is maybe not the best way of putting it as the two inner voices tend to be quite close - about the tenor range. Perhaps four male voices is more a straightforward way of putting it.

This is a motet I submitted for the Young Composers Award hosted by the National Centre for Early Music. The text is Mirabile Mysterium by Jacob Gallus who originally set it to music himself. The title means "The Riddle of the Rooster", relating to the mystery explained in the text and the fact that Gallus means rooster. Memory - for Oboe and Piano

This a piece I wrote a while ago that I called Memory because if you transliterate the word 'oboe' into Japanese, you get the word 'memory'. At least I think you do. When writing this piece, I noticed that aspects of it gave me a kind of pentatonic-y Japanese-y vibe, so I leaned into that in the second half. Written using Musescore. San

This composition was about contrasting musical ideas. In this case, I thought about instrumentation and their characteristic qualities and timbres in particular but also things like range or tessitura, articulation, rhythm/tempo, tonal centre among others too. A setting of the poem 'Morning Walk' by Kenneth White to music. The playback is MuseScore's as usual so the voice is in reality a viola so you'll have to imagine your own alto and words I'm afraid. Hey, thanks! This was my first time composing for oboe and I didn't really know what I was doing so perhaps I got something right! I'm not too familiar with Swan Lake but I'll have to give it a closer listen to see if I can spot the similarity.

Nice. I guess you used the string section instead of solo instruments because the solo instruments don't sound very good in Musescore 4? I have that problem. Solo violins sound as played by amateurs.
Yeah, I prefer the fuller sound as well. The solo instruments can also have slightly dodgy intonation and tend to completely drop out when the dynamic is too low.

I'm not much of a guitarist so I don't know tabs or how I could write them up, but the chords go something like this: Verse - Gmaj7, A#dim, A#dim/F#, Bmin, Adom7, Gmaj7, F#maj, Bmin, Dmaj7 Chorus - Gmaj, Emin (add6 and a 2), Bmin, C#dim7 (with a B in there as well), Dmaj7 This of course misses out the exact chord shapes, passing notes, and plucking pattern (and I'm not sure if these are the correct chord names), but it's the best I can give in a YT comment.
