The most important verse related to the timing of the Rapture is 1 Corinthians 15:51,52 "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST TRUMPET: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." The LAST TRUMPET will be sounded by the last Angel sounding the trumpets which is of course the Seventh Angel announcing the end of the world.

Your error is that you think that the last day means one 24 hours day, while the Lord means thousands of years, the last days has the same meaning = thousands of years. Remember what is written in 2 Pet.3:8 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." When the Lord speaks about resurrection in the last day, it means within the time frame of thousands of years during which time frame many great events will happen including the Thousand Years of Christ Reign which is in the future not now. If you reign with Christ now then ask yourself a question; Do I see my Lord Jesus face to face ? He (Uzzah) was killed by the LORD "for his error" (2Sam.6:7)because he touched " a holy thing" which was not allowed to do by anyone but by the priest (Aaron and his sons!) And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: "but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die." These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation. Numbers 4:15 It means that God does not honor any good deeds if it is done out of DISOBEDIENCE to HIS Law! Remember what happened to King Saul after he broke the commandment of the LORD even his intension was good! (1Sam.15:23)

So, in the case of Acts 2:38, to what does the gift of the Holy Spirit refer? We believe that it refers to the fact that God gives His Holy Spirit to those who repent and are baptized. But what has this to do with repenting and being baptized? Everything! In 2 Corinthians 3:6 Paul explains that "the written code kills, but the Spirit gives life." In God's scheme of redemption the Holy Spirit is the life giving principle or power. In John 3:3-5 Jesus explained to Nicodemus that unless one is born anew of water and the spirit one can neither see nor enter the kingdom of God. Some would separate the water and spirit here into two actions, referring the water to physical birth and the spirit to spiritual birth! This is simply not grammatically possible, nor is it necessary. Water refers to baptism and the spirit refers to the work of the Holy Spirit in the new birth and baptism (the early Christians, in their writings, are unanimous in this ”position”). The Holy Spirit is the life giving power of the new birth which takes place in the process of believing, repenting, and being baptized.

I remember the first time I heard this sermon. It’s powerful and has stuck with me until this day.

Church of Christ. [1]Nowhere does the Bible say tongues or any of the gifts, or miracles will cease this side of eternity. You quoted 1 Cor 13: 8--10. But if you read it, you'll see they gifts will cease when Jesus the perfect one comes to take us to Heaven. V 12 says it's when we see Jesus face to face and know like He knows. Daniel says knowledge will increase in the last days, NOT cease. You take ONE out of context scripture to build your opinions on, whereas the Bible say you need at least two scriptures to build a doctrine. Eph 3: 20 says the power is in the Church throughout ALL AGES, world without end. We are still in the "All ages", and the world hasn't ended yet. [2]Church history has proved that tongues and the other gifts are still in the Church, [That is in the TRUE Church]. [3]The Bible says when God gives gifts, He never ever takes them back. [4]Here's why the devil fights tongues. 1) We speak to God. 1 Cor 14: 2. 1 Cor 14: 28. 2) Praise God. V15-17. Telling how wonderful God and His miracles are, Act 2: 4-11. 3) God uses us to speak to other people. Acts 2: 4-11 1 Cor 14: 12-13. & Vs 26-27. 4 ) We speak to unbelievers. 1 Cor 14: 21--22. Mk 16: 17. 5) We speak for ourselves. To Build ourselves up. 1 Cor 14: 4. Jude 20. 6) For our spirit praying. 1 Cor 14: 14-15. 7) So the Holy Ghost can intercede for us. Rom 8: 26-28. 8) There are tongues of Angels. 1 Cor 13: 1. We can speak like the Angels speak. 9) God Speaks to us. 1 Cor 14: 2. “Mysteries”. A “Mystery” is a hidden secret, secret information, A Spiritual truth that can only be revealed by revelation. And God will reveal them to us as and when required. One way is interpreting your tongue. 1 Cor 14: 12-13. [5] When 1 Cor 14: 23 says keep silence, it doesn't mean don't speak in tongues, it goes on to say we should speak to ourselves and God, [In tongues]. See Vs 13--17. [6]Jesus and Paul said we can and should speak in tongues. Mk 16: 17. 1 Cor 14: 39. [7] Tongues are the Biblical evidence that people are baptized with the Holy Ghost, There are five Biblical accounts of people being baptised with the Holy Ghost, and in everyone they all spoke in tongues. [8] The tongue that need an interpretation, 1 Cor 13: 10, &30. 1 Cor 14: 27. three people can give a tongue and one should interpret it. This gift of tongues is one of the nine gifts of the Spirit and it's only one of the eight operations of tongues, [Supernatural tongues] that the Bible records. You really need to study the Bible.

Jesus has already reigned for a thousand years.. after his resurrection. Remember 1 day = 1 thousand years. We are in the 7th day/perdition/1st death/sabbath/wicked generation Christ warned people about thousands of years ago. We have been brought back here into the 8th day. Christ said "in 3 days I will restore my temple/and like jonah.. I am 3 days in the heart of the earth.
