I had a 85 4x4 single cab long bed. Put a 3.5inch downey offroad lift on it(all 4 leaf springs) and shackles, i think procomp shocks with 33s. Rebuilt the motor with my dad. We made a none running truck my high school graduation gift. Drove the chit outta it for a bout a month and it got stolen. Got it back 7days later with no tires or rims n all my stuff was gone. Seen my rims n tires on some other toyota, called cops gave them proof they were my rims n tires n got them back. After getting the truck back in working order after they drove the piss outta it. It wasnt but a week later they tried to steel it again but couldnt due to the kill switch i put in and it was hidden in plain sight. But they jacked all my shit again, that one still burns my arse cuz i got a fresh bag of grass and a new tool and sons of bitches got it!. So i was done driving it. So my dad wanted it and drove it for another prolly 5 or 6 years, then gave it back to me. I drove it for a couple more years and finally parted ways with it. I wish i still had it now. But ya know hindsite is a bugger.

Great trucks. Not worth $36k though. You could buy a new Tacoma for that price.

I bought one of these new in 1985. I still have the original window sticker. The horsepower rating , cited is wrong, it was 116 HP with the first year 22RE (the "E" designated electronic fuel injection). On my itemized window sticker, I paid $399 for the "special paint package". This was for the rarest metallic electric blue paint which was only available, as I recall for the 1985, and '86 model year, and included the contoured chrome rear step bumper. Mine had a cracked real axle at 28k mileage. I took it to the Toyota dealer for 28K mileage service, and the service manager informed me of, and showed me the cracked rear axle housing. Toyota would not fix it, they insisted that I "had, an accident, or hit something" which was never the case. Mine was a 2WD SR5 Xtracab. I paid $730 for a new axle housing, which I think should have been covered as a defective part. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that on the 1986 model trucks, the welds were redesigned on the rear axle housing. That is how I can tell the difference between a 1985, and a 1986 model, even though the exterior and interior styling is identical on the 1985, and '86 models.

Low mileage classic Hondas are very rare and do go for a lot now because people drive the hell out of them, and daily drive them. I have a somewhat time capsule: 2004 Acura RSX Type S with 38K miles, which is pretty low for a 2004. I love it so much, I don't daily it, but relish it on my short weekend local drives.
