MY MOTHER TOLD ME , THAT WHEN SHE WAS A KID , THAT THEY DIDN'T ALLOW GRASS TO GROW IN THE YARD , THE WHOLE YARD WAS DIRT , IF THEY SEEN A BLAD OF GRASS START TO GROW , THEY WOULD STOP AND GOOSE PICK IT , OR TAKE A HOE TO IT , AND THEY WOULD KEEP THE YARD CLEAN , BY SWEEPING IT WITH HOME MADE STRAW BROOMS .
haha
BACK WHEN I WAS A KID THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS A WEED EATER , YOU HAD TO USE A SWING BLAD , OR GOOSE PICK GRASS CLOSE TO ITEMS IN THE YARD.
MY BROTHER'S & COUSIN'S AND I MOWED 3 Is ACRES WITH 2 OF THEM, KEEP THEM SHARP & OILED
oh wow, now that's hard work! Way to get that done!

Hey! How's it going 😊
@@CraigThurston2014 all good in the hood of Florida
Haha the hood of the Florida man!
Love it! I got my 3 year old doing the same, except he is at the age where he thinks it’s cool so it’s easy lol
Awesome! 🤣
Too cold for me man!
Love it dude!!! My son and I are your newest subscribers, he loves mowing the grass too and he’s fascinated with this mower!!!
Thanks for subscribing♥️ My kids are realizing it's a job now haha
@@CraigThurston2014 mine is a long way away from that
Me and the old man was just discussing the blade design on these things. In the right hands they could cut better than a modern lawnmower. People were masters of their craft back when things were mostly handmade. Sometimes a step forward in tooling, causes a stumble backwards in engineering. I know from being self taught in gun science that building prototype machines (that work properly) can prove to be very difficult despite being a simple design. I encourage people to disregard expectations and try making things by hand with limited resources. If not to gain a new skill, at least to gain appreciation for the skill of others
Bro when I was like 10 I used one of those to. Good times😊
😊for sure, anything that's brings back distant memories, lol
That one train conductor yet Amish looking guy pulls out a scythe and does your chores for you out of pent of aggression towards you
Just found out about your channel! I do property maintenance in PTBO as well. I sharpen the same way except I have a block and tackle that I use to lift up the mowers
Hey man. Thanks for messaging. Nice to meet you. How long have you been doing the business? Do you do snow removal as well?
Hey! Ive been in business for about 10 years now. Yes I do snow removal as well. Its just me, I don't have any employees. Used to sub out some snow plowing but the guy got out of it. So its all on me now.
Thanks for sharing your experience. That is great your dealer went to bat for you and Toro covered the parts to repair your snow blower. The Toro HD models are great machines. One thing most everyone does with these machines, is make a slight adjustment to slow first gear to a crawl. Also, many complain that the left lever tension spring is too strong. That is also an easy fix. You can either slip the spring off the handle or do like I did, remove the spring all together. The bottom spring is all that is needed to hold the handle in the up position. By doing this, the tension is cut in half. Many complain their left hand would become fatigued after a while. I know mine did until I made the modification. I have the HD 1232 which can really blow some snow. Hope your winter is a good one.
Thanks for sharing about the left handle tension . I'll definitely have to do that. I haven't had the best experience with this snow blower. Things constantly break. Cables, belts more than once. I have a yardworks snow blower that is much older and haven't had to fix anything and it was a third of the price
Nice setup. I only have 2 walk behinds at the moment.
Thanks Steve. It's taken ten years to get to this point. Where do you run your business from?
@@CraigThurston2014 I'm from Houston , TX. I just cut as a hobby for a few of my Aunties and my church.
All the flower beds are full.. You look like you are all over the place with that mower. Not productive with it..
The ground was too soft to be mowing at that speed… You can see where you tore the grass up spinning on the damp grass on the left side of the house… Also the uneven, zigzag pattern is not real professional looking…
Even when doing leaf cleanups with our zero turns we still have a pattern, that zig zag all over the entire lawn and missing a lot of it didn’t make much sense to me. Also blow out the flower beds first, I guess whatever makes the customers happy but I personally couldn’t do it this way
I definitely agree! Way more blowing and preparation should have been done before getting on the rider !!
You got 18,000 dollars to give me so I can get one of these? Get realistic.
Yeah I never thought I would buy something this expensive but it is well worth it when you can afford it.
Now thats a beautiful fence. Cedar??
I just grab a couple beers, a lawn chair, leave blower and the weed torch. Within a few hours, 5 acres of leaves are gone. But your way works too.
You Need to fix your sound it is terrible
Good to know!
I'm wondering what height you set your blades for mulching leaves? I enjoyed the video.
I cut my lawn short in the fall, I find that leaves blow off my lawn onto the neighbors when the grass is short, and mulching leaves work well if you cut it short.
This was cut at 3 inches for the last cut. Most often I would cut between 3 and 2 1/2 inches in the fall
I pick up all my leaves with a pull behind vacume and scag zero turn. I could not imagine just using a mulching blade and let the small pieces just lay there. A few leaves are ok for your lawn, but too many and you start to suffocate the existing grass plus all the mulched leaves will cause spots where nothing grows because of too many mulched leaves. But it is what it is.
Wrong
@@jerrygriffin7629 go ahead explain
Carbon and nitrogen are the two most nutrients in mulched leaves. But too much of either without it being able to disperse because of winter can cause grass to not grow causing weeds to overtake.
@@t-bonebassmaster5191 The mulch kit when used weekly seems to pulverize the leaves very well and I see no build up. It is not a one time deal, That being said i also vacuum the lawn a couple times a year and thatch.
@@jerrygriffin7629 ok i agree with saying that. But when the leaves fall for about a good 4-5 weeks and people might only mulch their leaves (2) times it looks like its overloaded with mulched leaves. If you keep up on it, and stay ahead of the game sure that would really help out.
You should make it easier on yourself and blow all the bed free of the leaves. And cut the leaves in one direction to get rid of them the cut again to strip
You never show the whole machine! Or how you are vacuuming up the leaves. This video is worthless.
Sorry didn't mean to waste your time.
gator blades do the same thing and I have them on both my cub cadets 42 inch 46 inch with lots of trees on my over 3 acres
Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
god bless you .
Thank you!
Making twisting ruts when you turn in the grass. Be careful with that
Yes I have to slow down more with these turns. You excited with the power of these machines sometimes. Thanks for watching 😊

Yes sir💪🏽
Well there goes dead grass where the tires went over frosted grass ….
Nice video Looks like a lot Of Leave to cut up
Thanks! It's almost that time to clean up leaves again

That were I got it from u have to pay for the logo it on my trailer n truck.
Hey Craig, great video! If you were to do a full leaf clean up there, would you blow all the leaves onto the lawn and then simply bag them with the mower? Do you drive slower when bagging? I Just bought a property, LOTS OF TREES, curious about the best way to clean up. Thanks for your thoughts. Dan
Hi Dan When I'm going to bag up all the leaves. I will blow the perimeter of the property inwards with a leaf blower and than i will cut the leaves up several times to get them very tiny by side discharging them towards the center of the property. Sometimes big piles will build up so you will need to blow the leaves around again once you are in the center to be able to mow them down. Than I will bag them once all the debris is tiny.
@@CraigThurston2014 ah, I gather if I was to go over them right away, the rear bags would fill super fast…….
Yes if you have alot of big trees you will be dumping the bags way too much if the leaves are not mowed down smaller
When I started out cutting grass I used one of those. When we upgraded we bought the same thing but it was motorized. Good times.
Fun times indeed. It was laughable when I first started in lawncare carrying around a push mower out of a trunk of a car.
Thank God for self propel for some help Craig 💪
What a sloppy way of cleaning up leaves. A true professional hauls the debris away. I would have fired you in 10 minutes.
Hey man, i wasn't hired to clean up the leaves the customer had just moved in and wanted a couple cuts. I would normally use a bagging system or use my br800's if I was doing the leaf cleanup
AK you're a karen
A lawn this size is perfect for laying down stripes. That you spent time zigging and zagging all over it to get the leaves is one thing, but I don't see much in the way of laying down stripes. Or, is it because it's the last cut of the season that no one really cares because it's all going to be covered in snow before long?
OMG he drives all crazy! Very unprofessional.
We had one of those mowers. My father kept it sharpened and mom loved to use it. No fumes... I have a current version of that and it's only slightly slower than a regular mower.
I've always wanted to have a good motorized one!
How is it a little bit slower than a regular mower if a regular mower is easier to push and you don’t really have to sharpen the blades
Working hard even with a broken wrist 💪💪💪
Yeah getting really annoying to have this stinky thing on for so long
@@CraigThurston2014 sorry to hear brother. 1 day less to go 🙂👍
At least oil the damn thing, sounds rusty as hell.
Spray your mower deck with fluid film or something equivalent so the clipping won't stick.
Doing a good job buddy keep up the good work that's the way they used to do it all the time without power mowers just make sure your blade is sharp
Haha yes the blades are actually filed sharp. Manual mower is alot of work including raking 🙄
How do you use that type of mower when it does not have the correct wheel traction to make it work?
Pure strength! My wife won't let my son use a gas powered mower so I wanted to show him work when he is young 😊
If for nothing else, it teaches true appreciation. In today's world you can't put a price on that, and I'm speaking from just 27 years of life experience
Nice job Craig.
Thanks Bill. Ive been watching your videos to. You've put out alot lately!
