of course you also feel less confident in languages you're less fluent in, but this video assumes equal proficiency
You talk like this in every video, just less high pitched...

Your description of the r is dialectal
Yo bro, why are racers aren't called "racists" but why aren't pianists called "Pianers" or why does "tomb" and "bomb" sound different?
Stop fucking with my worldview
In Brazilian Portuguese dropping the subject is pretty common due to how we conjugate verbs. This is actually one of the most difficult things to overcome when learning English, because we ALWASY drop the subject and the sentences become incoherent
Holy shit I'm so glad I don't use tiktok
Skibidi bop um dada
somebody sample the nksh and use it in your sick beats
I remember that one time I was explaining that quicksand is not with the modern definition of quick and the guy was being so fucking frustrating and intentionally ignorant
I think a green apple is literally called blue apple, aoringo (あおりんご) in japanese Ao (あお) or (青) is blue
How long untill its being spelled as loki
wait there's a gen z/millennial rivalry?
I will also say that function is the term for the parties sororities hold. Yes, old, sexist rules mean that most sororities cannot throw parties in their own house. There are no rules to keep them from renting out literally any off campus space to turn up in. Which is what they do. All the time. My guess is that another part of the fun in using function is that it is a term that used to mean a more refined type of party (because the women were hosting) that has now become the throw-a-rager loophole.
I’m confused- noxious is a real word, that means something is harmful or poisonous, usually used to refer to chemicals. And I thought it wasn’t that uncommon of a word, but you’re referring to it as a fake word, which implies that you and your friends both don’t know the actual meaning of this word??
Cocaine's a hell of a drug
Sure bud, you def won't
🤓
I dont find any issue with this, the issue with eugenics is that they derive meaning from observations. For instance, saying if you have a large forehead, it correlates with intelligence is be an issue because they're wholly unrelated. Meanwhile I see no issue with saying "i find people with a particular cantile tilt more attractive" the same way i have no issue with someone that would say "Golden retriever boys get me going". Its just more ways we can be specific about what we find attractive ourselves. I think when someone starts a "goth dommy mommies are objectively the most attractive women in earth." thread with 23 posts detailing the scientific literature on the subject, that's no different as the looksmaxxer obsessing over jawlines. Basically that at the end of the day they're giving a very passionate argument as to why they enjoy a particular thing, and that it would be silly to consider it some sort of objective truth.
I'm concerned about pseudoscience and misinformation on social media in general. There's so much of it literally everywhere. It makes me so fucking mad when people just make up a whole bunch of bullshit and kids on social media just eat it up.
Every time I see one of your videos on modern linguistic trends, I am reminded of just how much I love linguistics
"The Romans were the greatest civilization" The Romans:
Dear adonis…
In Russia we say “rock, scissors , paper ,suefa, suefa.” Suefa doesn’t mean anything
lowkey..... what does lowkey even mean nowadays? thought it just meant "honestly or tbh"
Even though it never became a thing, people still know what it is and where it came from (the movie is 20 years old)
What’s the active version of “he’s built”?
You're Gen Z??? I thought you were older than meeeee
lowkey the trickster god
I unfortunately keep being reminded of this ignorant-ass video that just straight-up BS's so many modern slangs as originating from 4chan when they demonstrably did not, at all. If the point of this video was to troll as many people into being pissed off by how inaccurate everything said in it all is, congratulations, you're le epic trollz0rs. Even "NPC" was popularized by 4chan but not created by it, at all.
In Spain we also can call someone "Maruja" wich was a pretty popular name during the 50s/60s to describe someone who doesn't have a job and fills their time with gossiping, also you can call "Manolo" someone who's rowdy, masculine, ignorant and sometimes also someone that drinks too much. And when you think about it, that was the gender roles people had in Spain at that time 😂
Makes people sound dumb.
i think he might be artistic
I have no idea if I’m a generation Z or Jen Alpha. I’m considered a really late Genzie, but I’m also born in the time of Jenna Alpha.
Another meaning is when you want to say or acknowledge something but you don’t want to bring much attention to it.
I thought bae meant "shit"
I definitely picked up some strange speaking patterns as a kid during the British youtuber boom
I have 2 little cousins in 2nd grade, and their hand sign for talking on the phone is holding a flat hand up to their ear to mimic a cell phone because they've never used landline phones.
Let him cook
doo be doo be doowa
Which in turn created the walk of fame and the walk if shame as two phrases for the same thing but for different genders and carrying different connotations
Underdog
isnt that thor's brother
Oh no no. Thats not true, bide your tidings, bide your words, you can bide your money too. We just dont hear it very often. I remeber " bide your offering" in an Emerson poem as well. It's also used as a contraction for abide or abode around the anglosphere. Wikipedia needs help. Or more of it.
Fun fact, in German, the word for sheath can also man vagina.
