    I hadn’t played guitar in 25 years and when my wife died I picked up a 50’s Gold top and it was soo good I picked up a 60’s Bourbon burst and it was soo good I drove about an hour to our closest GC where I played 3 Gibson Les Pauls and can now imagine paying $2,999 for a Gibson 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Great info here, thank you. I live in Massachusetts and just stacked a cord of wood in my basement. I think it was not ready to burn, so I bought a moisture meter, and sure enough, it needs further drying out before burning. Having just watched this video, I'm wondering if my moisture meter could be used on my Taylor acoustic guitar? I placed it on the top of the body of the guitar and it registered between 3-9%. I understand the air humidity should ideally be 50%, but what about the moisture content of the wood itself?

    Learned this the hard way recently when the top of my Takamine’s pinless bridge split off (and went flying across the room). My Luthier said it would have the constant changing of humidity in my air conditioned music room. So very humid where the air con was off and very dry with the air con in. Because I played every day I didn't keep the guitar in its case.

    I started playing at 12 and I’m now 52. I’ve played many great Gibsons and plenty of bad ones especially guitars made in the 90’s. The clear coat would literally flake off the guitars on the stand. Out of the box they would be pure crap. I have NEVER picked up a bad Epiphone guitar. I just bought my gf a Quilt-top Standard Les Paul and out of the box it was simply perfection.

    I'll be turning 50 this year and never owned a quality guitar before and I've been playing since I was 14 That being said, I started looking at martins and Taylor's cause I'm an acoustic guy. When I came across the J200 EC studio I fell in love with the design and the quality for an adorable price. I'm a truck driver , so that kinda stuck in my mind traveling mainly Florida and Georgia with the weather being humid, I was leaning towards the Martin omc-x1e HPL only for that reason and okay ability but I still desired that rich sound. I haven't bit the bullet yet but after hearing the history behind Epiphone it kinda got me in the feels. I love the sound , look and quality, and it's adorable for a blue collar guy for me. I think seeing Jamey Johnson play his pushed me over the edge Can't wait to have it in my hands Thx Epi

I'm just a working man with a working man budget that doesn't make a living playing music ( dreamer ) lol ... my dad got me an Epiphone back in 85 and I can't say the same for that setting next to a Gibson... though Epiphone has come a long way .... Congratulations to them ...

And it has definitely a better neck!

    If they get the quality back up to the standards of old and the prices brought down to reasonable pricing on their stuff, they’d really be looking out for the customers. Mark was simply brought in because of his knowledge and love for the guitar. He’s a great player and he’ll most likely attract new buyers and all since people like him.

    what is a string bender? Apart from the person playing the guitar...who bends strings.

    • @MrMd5555
      @MrMd5555 Před 2 lety

      I'm certainly not the guy to try and explain what a string bender is but basically it's a little mechanism usually on the b string or g string (or both) along with a spring that is routed through the body & usually attached to the strap button, while playing if you 'lever'/ pull the guitar downward it bends only the string in which the mech is attached to to imitate steel guitar licks & such. Think along the lines of a one string whammy bar/ tremelo just to get a general idea... it's probably easiest to just do a you tube search and watch a demonstration

    Brilliant visionaries are not satisfied with status quo. There are leaders who continually want to do better and look for the resources to do so, and then there are the leaders who continually want to do better and create the resources to do so (Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, Joe Glaser, etc.). Joe's mind is on a different level. I believe he would have revolutionized whatever industry he pursued- it just happened to be guitar lutherie and repair.
