Paddy’s performance was next level and he was the perfect choice to bring some depth and humanity to the last of the peaceful Targaryen Kings. I always felt that GRRM never really developed Viserys as a character even in Fire and Blood. This gave Paddy a lot of room to leave his mark and really give a special performance. He wanted a family not to be king and his family bickered with each other constantly for the power he had as he literally rotted away in front of them. His portrayal of Virserys foreshadows the destruction and descent of Targaryen rule.

the best thing about this whole video is that his character has nothing to do with fantasy and everything to do with realism

G.R.R Martin seems like one of those authors that is very proud in their writing and doesn't seem to really like any portrayals of his characters unless he was directly involved (Which is kinda justified lets be honest) So for him to say that Paddy's characterization wasn't just good but BETTER than his own for a character HE WROTE is a beyond bragging worth compliment.

The last scenes of Viserys hit me deeply. Having witnessed a terminally ill father decay over the years myself, the accuracy of Paddy's portrayal struck a chord with me and, even before I knew it, I thought "this man KNOWS what it's like". The fact that king Viserys always had a compassion and tenderness to him, while also being wise and judicious, it warms and breaks my heart in a million pieces, because it reminds me so much of my own father. Absolutely monumental acting right here.

Battle of the bastards? One of the greatest? It was pretty bad.

Ser Jaime Lannister the King Slayer, whatever he is he is still a knight. Give him his proper title.

The performance and writting was so good that apparently even George R.R. Martin himself wished he could go back and rewrite Viserys's character this way. When an author admits to an aspect of the adaptation of their work being better than the original, that's how you *know* you've got something special.

Game of Thrones has always been a show that thrived within the strengths of deep character-development that occurs while the separate groups were traveling. In Season 8, no one is "traveling." All of these beloved characters are in the same place (in the same bottle) at the same moment. Letting these characters spread their wings and slowly merge with each other (like a visually metaphorical rorschach) was a bit of fan-service that I remember fondly. Truly, a highlight of Season 8...

Honestly it wasn't a great performance in fantasy, it was a phenomenal performance, period. It's completely criminal that he didn't even get an Emmy nomination.

eh looking back id probably rather have just gotten some eye candy preparing for battle montage. maybe then theyd actually be prepared for the battle lol. could've had the nights watch boys talking while digging like they did back in the old days lol. honestly, looking back on this episode, knowing what happens in the next, the amount of just sitting/standing around on the part of these incredibly important and high ranking people is baffling lmao. but their plan of defense was so insultingly farcical in concept that there's no point in scrutinizing it in practice

A tragic character despite his disposition. Well-written, well-performed. Personally I reject your depiction of him as indecisive and passive; in many instances he CHOSE not to act because of the costs of the actions. Even Kings shouldn't poke bears. And he was coming off a reign of peace before him, suddenly beset by bears and heirs and a questionable succession system that resulted in his own empowerment to begin with. I'm inclined to blame the Hightowers and Daemon for the instabilities of his later reign. The Dance hinges on Alicent and Alicent's distancing from Rhaenyra was partly due to Daemon. Again, a tragedy. Maybe Fire and Blood would have fixed the problems but it wouldn't have made Viserys more "likeable" or a better person or leader. People hated S8 Daenerys for it lol

Excellent video. You're gonna blow up, just work on your thumbnails. Don't include a single word or picture of a charachter to a thumbnail unless it is clearly visible. Make it simpler. Less is more. And try to make the video titles and thumbnails more mass appealing. For example I know 'Sunny' is IASIP, most people don't, so don't just say 'The Perfect SUNNY episode'. Most people haven't even seen it and you're not giving them a reason to watch the video, you're just appealing to the fans of the show. Also, make more videos about more popular TV. Cover anime, Korean dramas..etc. Also, your brand is Television, so either make videos only about TV or rebrand to something more general, like 'Pop Culture Digest' or something if you wanna cover movies and music too. The scenes with Viserys and Rhaenyra reminded me of those scenes between Tywin Lannister and Arya Stark. Its as if the episode stops and hangs in time.

Damn, I didn’t even know Bojack was cancelled until now. One of the best shows I’ve ever watched. I haven’t rewatched it since the last season aired because of the fucking headspace it puts you in. Guess it just shows how good it is at portraying what it wants to portray. Great video!

Bruh waxberg talked about this. Bojack was promised 7 seasons and got cut shorter with a warning, which gave time to close loose ends but did make some plots more rushed than already planned. Unlike spongebob family guy etc the bojack writing team already planned a clean roadmap to go through before netflix shut it down. More elegantly than the usual or not. Your video doesnt clarify to me what was good about the way bojack ended nor gives a lesson on how to replicate it. It assumes viewing statistics are enough to make the best decision for a shows length.

Dan and Dave are huge fans of The Wire. Basically they tried to do an episode that has the same feel as the episodes from that show when they'd all be hanging out at Kavanagh's drinking. I think they succeeded in some ways and failed in others.

If they had brought back Hot Pie for the final season, it would've saved the series.

Oh and a fave moment is when Tim ends up in a stolen doctor's car with a pharmaceutical saleswoman who argues with the doctor on the phone before announcing that she and Tim are going to drive off a bridge. She then says something like "up top, Tim!" to which he replies something like "No. Uh, we're not high-fiving suicide".

A year late seeing this video but just wanted to say, yes! I LOVED this show! I've found myself watching a lot of old clips from it recently. Still so funny!

I loved this episode. A bottle episode has to be earned by making you care deeply about the characters, and it's a spice that needs to be used sparingly - once in 8 years is about right. One of the secrets of storytelling is the delay of gratification, and this episode is an hour or more of mostly that delay. It's Tantric GoT. But what do I know? I liked The Long Night too. Let's just not talk about after that.

Looking back it is cool we got to see a fairly competent honorable King get to rule for a whole season in the GRR universe. Compared to all the others that are overall negative or self serving in GoT.

This show is exactly the same as most friend focused sitcoms. It's about 2 selfish people who think the world revolves around them while barely being punished for the crazy stuff they do. Hannibal is the only redeeming quality
