Penny Cent Box Hunt #7: "C'est la Vie!"
This was the 7th box hunt of 2024. A couple of quality coins pop up in the hunt! There was a really nice variety of coins ranging form the teens to the 50's. But the greatest variety came with the assortment of mintmarks! The second box of the hunt reminded me that not all of the exploring we do with these coin boxes is going to be plentiful or exciting like it has been in the last few months. C'est la vie! Cheers!

Nickel Box Hunt #8: Another Buffalo Stampede!
zhlédnutí 88Před 14 dny
A very interesting two box hunt for number 8 of this year! Lot's of newer nickels, spreading from the teens to 2023. You wouldn't expect any older generation nickels to come out of it nor would you expect a lot of quantity either, but surprise, surprise, surprise! Enjoy!

Great find!
Congrats! A KGVI is always a sweet find!
George the 6th is probably my favorite foreign coin to find, other than Balboas or Bermudas/Bahamas! Love the design! Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers to you!
Gotta love finding the S mintmarks.
If people went to coin shows and threw down $800 for two coins like this (which would be cheaper because no shipping) the dealers would be wearing fur coats and multiple gold chains. 😂. (I haven’t seen a winner in series 7 yet. )
Sweet!
Still haven't seen anyone get their monies worth in series 7. Love the 8R. I have a 1798 8R in my collection. And I will never get rid of it. The Benji is a nice looker as well.👍✌
I haven't seen a red core vault find yet as well. I actually like the coins I got too! I have to admit I did try to sell them last week at my local coin show, but there wasn't much interest, especially with the price I was asking. I'm going to keep them for now. Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
Older than Moses? I love it!!
I appreciate the comment! Once in awhile I say something that's "funny". Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
Nice find! Any 30’s wheatie with a mint mark is sweet!
I think I covet that more than just getting something in the teens w/out a mintmark. You know almost immediately that it's a special find, because they don't happen too often. A '58-D...Yeah, that happens a lot! Thanks Southern Metal for the response! Cheers!
Looks cleaned thats most likely the details grade.
Never thought about that, but you could be dead on with that. Thanks for the analysis! Cheers!
The Batman was disappointed with the hunt.😢😅
Robin wasn't thrilled either! Me...These are what a lot of hunts happen to be. "Decent...Just nothing too exciting." The 1937-S was definitely the highlight! Thanks for watching/enduring the vid! Cheers!
Hey! Always enjoy some Vaultbox unboxing :D If you are interested in selling, I'd be interested in your '63 50C. I ended up with the 56 Type 2 and have been looking around the web to see If I can't pick up the others in the series. Let me know!
Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to keep them for now. That's a cool pick up you got! I appreciate the response! Salud!
The seller will be able to make money twice for the same coin. If you sell it back to Vault Box for the instant offer the seller profits for the sales price of the Vault Box minus the cost of the coin plus certification. Then Vault Box will resell it at a profit for the sales price minus the Instant Offer cost.
Never even thought about that. Very good point, sir! I actually tried selling it at a coin expo last Thursday, but nobody was interested at the price I was asking. Keeping them for now. Getting attached to them, frankly. Thanks for the thinking...It's appreciated!
I got 2 as well got a 1936 Elgin 9.6 and a 1832 capped buff 7. Not my money back but Fukien addictive! Cool coins sir!
Dude! I've never even seen that Elgin half dollar before...Very very Cool! A Capped Bust is always a nice get! I'm jealous! Cheers to you!
2:46.......😂😂😂😂
Thanks...I like to put a bit of comic relief in my shorter vids, because my longer vids are way too effing long and devoid of any comedy! Thanks for the notice! Cheers!
Coins with character!
AND a video made by a character! That's some Alanis Morrisette, "Flies in the chardonnay", kind of "irony"! Thanks for the response! Cheers!
Exciting news! The inclusion of Rose number [9] beautifully symbolizes our collaborative efforts in this creative garden at CoinEra. Let's continue nurturing this shared space together! 🌹🌷🌼 Thank you for being an integral part of it! 😊💖
Nice Hunt
I definitely did not expect the older buffalo nickels coming out of those two boxes, especially since a majority of the nickels were from the teens to present day. I feel very lucky to have gotten one buffalo nickel, let alone four of them! Thanks for the response!
Great buffalo finds!
Easily, the most I've ever found in a hunt! Very, very lucky! Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
Nice coins
Thanks! I believe I've decided to keep them for now. I appreciate the response!
its fun til you get an ASE
OMG Jean, THAT was my overall fear. I'm so glad that didn't happen! Thanks for the comment! 😆
I've been finding quite few buffaloes lately. Maybe someone is releasing them.
I'm hoping it continues, that's for sure! Love to see some key dates start to come in for Jeffersons as well. I appreciate the response! Cheers!
I don’t think it’s gambling because in the end you still have something. Depending on what you get I would consider it overpaying for a coin
I get that, Link! I actually like the coins I got! I've over spend in auctions a lot. This time it's just a bit more than I like, but I understood that coming into it. I appreciate the response! Cheers!
i got a red 1907 indian head graded 9.5 the instant offer is 500 bucks. how much can i sell it on ebay for, or should i take the instant offer
@holasoyalejandro9822 Thanks for the question! I'm not one to give a lot of advice on coins, but I'll throw some numbers at you and you can decide. 9.5 for a red IHC basically equates to an MS65 for PCGS (While NGC is a good grading company, PCGS is still the big kahuna of grading companies). They list it at $700, but that's just a guide. If you go to their latest auction prices for that coin, most of them average at about $550, but there are some below $500 and one went for $767! Looking at the greysheet for coins they list it at $490. NGC is going to lowball you on the price...not by a whole lot, but they are! That being said, You may get more going the EBAY route, but you may not. Also, EBay takes a cut of that, so you definitely need to sell it for a bit more to equal the NGC offer. Also, if you do go the EBay route, make sure to let the buyers know that it's a Vault Box coin and try to include the boxing with it. You might get a little uptick on the price with that info. Good luck!!!
@holasoyalejandro9822 Here's the price guide to PCGS: www.pcgs.com/prices
Take the money and run!!!!!
@@royrauch9775 I was thinking that too, but I wanted to give him options.
Nice find! You can’t get mad at a buffalo with a readable date!
You got that right, SM! All four I found in this hunt had readable dates...Sweet!
I think that chopmarked 8 reales has a $250 bounty on it. Go check that out. You might get some of that money back!
Awesome video, always fun👀🪙🤓
I appreciate the response! I had a ball with it, even though no red core showed up. They're interesting coins to me no matter what. Cheers!
Some Very Cool Coins. I liked the Starter you put in the video. Thanks for sharing and have a Great Day.
To the acetone ye go!
You got that right! You know, the hot water worked decently enough. As much as I like nic-a-dating buffs, it's pretty nice to have a date with the coin! Thanks for the response, Indigone!
Last night I found 2 Buffaloes nickels in the same roll. Now that's unherd...ha-ha of!
LMAO! That was hilarious, but I can't even imagine getting "2" in one roll?! Fantastic! I appreciate the response! Cheers!
Mental illness is the main reason why people die
Nice Hunt
Thanks Vincent! I appreciate your response!
I can't say for sure but it sure does look like a pointed 7. And now for a fun fact that I recently learned myself. The 1947 maple leaf coins were struck in 1948. The Canadian mint didn't yet have the 1948 dies when production was supposed to begin so they added the maple leaf next to the date of leftover 1947 dies to differentiate these from what was actually minted in 1947.
I thought so on the 1948 mintage...I found a 1947 Canadian nickel that had the same designation. Thanks a bunch for you comment! Cheers!

Looks pointed to me. Nice find Silver Chupacabra!
I appreciate the confirmation...I thought so too, but the wear on it made it unclear to me. Thanks for the response!
where did you get that coin mat from? Does it show what to look for?
I got the mat from: robfindstreasure.com/ It's in the shop section. It DOES have the KEY dates and errors/varieties to look for, but not all of them. This site has a ton of coin error/variety info to look for on coins: www.varietyvista.com/ Thanks for the question! Cheers!
@@silverchupacabra73 Hey thanks man!
Great finds and fun
I can not gripe about those boxes, even though I might from time to time. Big time fun with the Buffalos and the proof coins! I appreciate the response! Cheers!
Some nice finds, good Luck with your next search. And have a Great Day.
Thanks Bill! I appreciate the comment!
32:39 Yes thats a detached lamination error. *edit* And a detached lamination error of that size does have a little bit of value. Good find.
I'm pretty stoked about that JackalopeHerdmaster! You seem to have a lot of experience in mint errors and such! I appreciate your knowledge and know how! Salud!
@silverchupacabra73 Errors and varieties have been an interest for me since I started collecting over 35 years ago. I wouldn't call myself an expert but I do have a reasonable amount of knowledge with them.
@@JackalopeHerdmaster I've been collecting coins most of my life, but didn't really get back into it until I retired 2 years ago. I'm pretty weak sauce when it comes to errors and variety, especially when it comes to DDO's and DDR's (machine vs. the real doubling), but I'm learning. I appreciate the education from you!
29:48 That's a lamination error. Not worth much but a cool find nonetheless.
17:32 That looks like a dryer coin. Damaged and worthless.
Come on! It's purty! lmao 🤣
I did not realize that the mint made a 1943D steel nickel.Must be worth a small fortune.😊😊😊
Haha...For a minute there I wasn't quite sure what you were talking about. Nice little error in the making of the collection book! I wonder what that book would sell for with that kind of error?! 🤣🤣🤣
@@silverchupacabra73 Yeah that stood out very well.I don't know if there is a market for error albums, lol.
what exactly makes a coin a "proof"coin?
Excellent question! I have a pretty extensive coin collection, but one thing I do not collect are proof coins, so my knowledge is somewhat limited. What I do know is that proof coins are specially treated coins minted and sold for public consumption. The minters(?) polish the dies unlike in regular strikes to a high finish so that's how they get that mirror like finish for the backgrounds. They also strike the blank planchets at least a couple times so that everything on the coin itself is clear and concise. San Francisco is the main proof maker nowadays, but other mints have done it way in the past. Proofs also have a limited mint production as well. If any of this info is not quite correct, hopefully somebody will correct me on it. Cheers!
Are proff coins valuable? I mean can you sell proff coins for a good price without grading then by a grading company.
Great question...The one I show in the vid. isn't worth much more than face value at best. If it was graded at an MS70 it tops off at around $30. Once it's in circulation, forget about it. There are proofs that could offer some decent value to you, but that's a rare commodity. While it's not worth much, I like the coin for it's aesthetic quality more than anything else. I appreciate the question! Cheers!
Sweet find!
Agreed! I haven't found too many proofs of any kind of coin in boxes and this one is easily in the best condition! Thanks for the response! Salud!
Awesome proofy 2005 S
Best looking proof coin I've seen in a box hunt! Thanks for the comment! Salud!
I spotted it while it was I'm that line
1935D Buffalo nice
Thanks Lori! It's been since Nov. of last year since my last buffalo nickel find in a box hunt. I'm pretty stoked about it! Cheers!
That's great.
Always fun to go through someone's collection and see what they've got!!
Oh, that was a major fun time! Plus I got to practice looking for DDO's on Kennedy halves! Love that British Columbia commemorative! Cheers!
That was fun. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
Please tell me that you checked the 1941 and 1936 for DDO's
Yes I did! I check them off camera. Unfortunately, a no go! Thanks for the response! Cheers!
