Making waves in Tuscaloosa, Alabama | Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility
We're wrapping up the Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) project for the U.S. Geological Survey, located on the University of Alabama's campus.
HIF will support training, repairs, and calibration for hydrological equipment that monitors water resource features that serve the entire nation. The main hydraulics lab houses a 250-foot long tilting flume, a test basin with a wave generator for simulating river and stream processes, and a 350-foot-long tow tank and carriage.
It's been a pleasure working on this one-of-a-kind project in a joint venture with Jordon Construction Company.

This hospital pops up floors faster than I can blink. Every time I pass by, it's like a game of 'Where's Waldo?' but with new levels.
I begin my first semester of my construction management degree this fall. I’ve been in the field for 5+ years. I’ve seen the labor side and can’t wait to start seeing the front side of the business and learning the nuts and bolts of a construction project. I hope to land my first internship soon, and grow under someone’s mentorship. This video gives me encouragement that someone will give me a shot.

Helped build two of these roughly the same size and height in Sussex New Brunswick, Canada to be used as head frames for a new potash mine. I like how you guys broke the shifts into 12 on and 24 off with 3 crews. We did it with 2 crews and 12 hr shifts. Kept pouring one night right through a post tropical storm with over 100mm of rain and 100km hr winds and completed each one in under 40 days apiece. . Before the mine even started to produce potash the price per ton plummeted and the mine closed and never reopened… a 3 billion dollar catastrophe.

This is awesome I love concrete construction
Concrete placement during hot weather can lead to problems if precautions are not taken to control placement temperatures. Such problems include: decreased compressive strengths and durability when fully cured; plastic and thermal cracking; and lack of uniformity in surface appearance. One traditional approach to lowering concrete temperatures is to use ice to supplement a portion of the batch water. However, this at times leads to operating and quality control problems. An alternative to ice for providing necessary cooling is to use liquid nitrogen (LIN), an inert liquid with a temperature of -320 degrees F.
