Central boiler sells an upgrade kit for the side air channels. The channels are replaced with stainless steel tubes which are much easier to clean. The right side is worse because the inlet is on that side and cooler air comes in and creates creosote quicker. Thanks for the video! I have the same model and understand the elbow grease involved!

I would recommend Black plastic to increase the temp during the day when the sun shines. Maybe making the tote more airtight would help to force the overheated air down through the wood. Also, if you had the bottom opening smaller it would be more pressurized depending on the size of the intake of the fan. Just my 2 cents :)

One thing that I can see in your IBC is you have a center row of wood that blocks airflow through it. If you stack wood really tight like that it wont dry as well no matter how hot it gets, its the air moving through a pile that dries it out. Just my two cents, its worked for me for many years. Best of luck with the solar kiln. I stack my green wood in a ##### pattern so air can easily go through it. Once it is dry I stack it tight to save space.

Cool design. I have always found that the wood on top of a pile outside tends to be a little bit drier (the pieces that get better sun exposure). Interested to check out pieces that maybe only had just the end grain on one end but you may have done this by digging into the pile a bit (37-38% versus 30%) but it's hard to tell as a viewer the way the video is edited/shot. Thanks for the video.

If I'm seeing this wrong, I apologise.. But from what I do see - A glaringly obvious design fault that I can see immediately(IMHO), is your air Inlet is at the top, and your outlet is also at the top. I would have had my Inlet as far down the bottom as I could get it, and opposite to the outlet. [Edit after watching the start of the video again: it appears to me like there is only one vent, meaning there isn't really an Inlet or an outlet. This is even worse than I had thought. It appears to be more like a sauna can a kiln. The fan should be attached to a cowl and plastic fitted so it is positively either pushing air out or sucking air in; with the other air Inlet/outlet right at the bottom of the wood pile]. also surely the wood from the bottom of both stacks would (I imagine) read differently from the wood you've chosen from the top but that's just speculation - I have zero experience in this area. An afterthought: Also I imagine black plastic would heat up more than clear too.
