Rafael Lanfranco, born in Lima in 1976, is a distinguished artist and sculptor. He is a partner and founder of 4D2 Studio, an illustration studio based in Lima. Lanfranco earned a Master's Degree in Communications from Boston University and received a Fulbright Scholarship in 2005 from the US Department of State. His art has been showcased in numerous cities globally, including Miami, Tokyo, Singapore, London, Santiago, São Paulo, and Milan. He collaborates with several notable art galleries such as IK Projects (Lima-São Paulo), Eugene Gallery (Tokyo and Seoul), G13 Gallery (Malaysia), Eduardo Lira (Miami), Galería Indigo (Lima), and Cuatro en un Baúl (Lima). Lanfranco's artwork is characterized by characters that convey psychological, mythological, and archetypal narratives, reflecting both his era and his own psychological experiences. For instance, in "Yute and Tocuyos Imachinarium," the narrative serves as a metaphor for Lanfranco's personal odyssey to find his place in the world. His characters often grapple with existential questions such as "What am I here for?" and "What is my purpose?"
In addition, Lanfranco's "WAKO universe" explores similar existential inquiries on a societal level, using his native Peru as a microcosm to examine broader existential questions faced by the country, collective, and society.
