Looked up the book just now and the talk had been in Buddhist Era 2526 Vesak Poya day.

I have heard live Venerable Gangodawila Soma thero delivering a sermon on Yasodhara Theri - title is "Rahula mata" - maybe over 30+ years ago. It was published in a little booklet and I have it with me now. Late Venerable Soma Thero (Maharagama Dharmayatanaya in Sri Lanka) had gathered information from an ancient historical book named "Pujavaliya" (Poojavaliya) - Beautiful talk it was and describes how Yasodhara Theri went to the Buddha on when she was 78 years of age (she had surveyed previous consorts of the Bodhisatva when the passing takes place - had to be before the parinirvana of the Buddha) The Buddha had requested her to show her attainments to the people - for she had led a very quiet life unobtrusively - so people would know and revere her memory and be inspired by her unique life.

My mother who’s reached nirvana, leaving only relics behind did not grieve and was not wailing. Grieving not for others left, she’s crossed the sea of existence. She’d mastered the superpower called the “divine ear” element. Gotamī was a master of the knowledge stored in others’ hearts. She remembered her former lives; her “divine eye” was purified.
