It only happened in the 1st place because Laura and Ashley had an out of character obsession/crush on Devexian which somehow convinced them that Devexian had repaired and reactivated FCG when in fact all he did was sell FCG's inactive shell to the person that actually reactivated him, Dancer. Laura had to be corrected on this by Dani on 4-Sided-Dive.

my opinion is that it was Dancer all along. That's who he's most bound to. Sure, D found him, but he spent time with Dancer. She was his "first" family, D was just a means to it
