Wish the narrator spoke slower. No intonation. Music overpowering. Story of lali and Gita is truly enspiring. Love can bring inner strength to survive hell now watching mini series of book and am just starting the novel heart breaking 💔

"Never again." Note what happened on Oct. 7, 2023, and what has been happening in western countries ever since. Now the US gov't is pressuring Israel to let Hamas persist in Gaza. That would have been like allowing the Nazis in Munich to continue.

Such books distort the image of the Holocaust very much, and if in addition they become bestsellers, it is to be expected that many readers of the aforementioned "The Tattooist..." will consider the events described as really taking place, especially since this is how the book was advertised - it was supposed to be based on on real events.

In all fairness Bershowitz saved Lali from sure death when he speaks with Gita among many other favors he performed for him.

i’m assuming you mean beretzki? the guard. In the book although already awful in reality he was also so much worse he was known for playing games with prisoners to decide who to kill, calling them rabbits if they didn’t take their hats off quick enough, he kicked to get his kicks he was sentenced to life in prison he was a horrible man he may have been the reason lale survived but that doesn’t mean anything he shouldn’t be given any fairness he killed over 8000 people and he laughed through it all, he killed himself in prison and he deserved it, he may have been a young manipulated man but he’s still unbelievably corrupt and doesn’t deserve people downtoning his actions, i’ve seen him defended by the books saying things like “he was just trying to have a laugh” “they were friends”, they weren’t friends lale was in survival mode and so was everyone else the only reason he ever spoke to him was to stay alive. survivors have been treated awfully. the character cilka in the book was a real person and she was persecuted for contributing to it all when all she ever tried to do was survive, her stepson still tries to save her good name and clear her even after her death because she did what she could to survive, everyone did. none of the SS guards or nazis deserve any sympathy or props because they did one slightly nice thing
