Lucia Popp is such a songbird. She passed away way too young. It is a shame that those who give us so much joy has their life cut so short. Every time I listen to her singing this piece I weep. It is so beautiful and I feel her emotion of wondering where her love one is and the hope she wants the moon to give to him from her. I first heard this piece in the movie Bicentennial Man, where Robin Williams plays a robot who wants to be human and experience death in the end. I met Robin and he was so incredible towards me. I'll never forget his considerate caring for me in that moment, who became and still is my hero.

After Callas, probably the greatest tragedienne on the opera stage. And even though we all know that she didn't exactly spare her voice and wasn't really a spinto soprano, I find what she does here absolutely convincing. She shapes every syllable and manages to create a kind of true and deep shock. You can really suffer with the character here and that is exactly what Puccini intended.

I saw them in Toronto at the O'Keefe Centre when I was 10 years old. Flanders rolled over to where I was in the front row and smiled at me. A lovely memory! My favorite is The Slow Train. Their albums were produced by George Martin.

Listening to this in 2024. I don't even know if the Carpenters were still alive when I was born. Their songs became a recent fave for me when I first heard _Love Me For What I Am_ and _Yesterday Once More._ Their songs are timeless, still relatable even decades after, but what I love the most is listening to Karen Carpenter's voice. It's cool and calming, unique and might be one of the best voices I have ever heard. I'm thankful for their songs - a wonderful timeless legacy indeed.
