great loadout there is so much that people carry that they'll never use so its just weighing them down
How do you think this quilt would hold up in 20 degree Fahrenheit weather?
If you’re a warm sleeper and have a decent R value sleeping pad, you’d probably be okay. Otherwise, I’d go for something thicker
I have a couple of garments of this brand and I am very unhappy with the quality. Merino wool has features like durability, warm or that does not smell. I have had merino clothes since years but Isobaa is, by far the worst quality. After one year using a hooded jacket, the cuffs are shattered with holes and the general aspect is very old. With the long sleeve tshirt the problem is the smell. Is the first time in my life that a merino tshirt smell bad at the end of a day. Yes, at the first sight the product is well designed and looks good, but some months later…. Definitely I don’t recommend even being cheaper than other brands. I think it is worth paying a little more for a quality brand that lasts a long time.
I’ve had mine for several years and it’s as good as it was when I bought it. Not a single fault
Is there a lock on it so you don’t accidentally turn it on?
Yes that’s right. Nothing worse than opening your bag to see your torch has been on for hours
I love isobaa clothing, its my favourite base clothing
How is this jacket in the 4 rain?
Like most down jackets, it won’t stand up to heavy rain. You’ll need a waterproof over the top
What size is this?
Medium
Don t do the Wolds Way, go up the coast and do the Cleveland Way and do it Filey to Helmsley . This is a true challenge and not boring , but its hard and very hilly .I ve wild camped it three times. Not much in the way of handy campsites anyway except for Kildale camping barn at £10 a night.Other places want £30 sharing with huge motorhomes
Good choices. So many hikers take WAY too much stuff that is simply not necessary. I am a cycle camper but my kit is the same as I’d carry if I was walking and I keep it below 6kg. The load I take for a couple of days would do just as well for me if I was on the road for a couple of months.
100% agree! Never been bike packing but fancy trying it
Thankyou for that, just stumbled across this video as hoping to do the YWW in a fortnight, also starting from Sleaford👍
Hope you enjoy it 🙂
Thank you for reviewing this sleeping bag. I have been looking for a while at suitable sleeping systems for both bike packing and backpacking and watching your video really helped me finalising my decision. I have just ordered one of these bags along with a Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Xlite NXT sleeping mat. This is most definitely not a cheap option but I truly believe that you get what you pay for in life. I'm hoping that the combination of these two items will work well together over spring, summer and early autumn moths. 🤞
Glad I could help mate. Hope it goes well for you ✌🏻
I've got this bag had it over two years I still can't believe how little it is it's mind blowing
Floor is a little bit to down for me :( and I actually don't like white inners, it makes depressiv. I do like more yellow inner... But thanks for showing us.
I really love mine, I bought the camo one a few years ago and I've wild camped all over the lake District and Scotland in all weather conditions and it has never let me down. There is a bit of condensation inside but I solved it with a lightweight bivvy bag to keep my sleeping bag dry. A great little tent.
It’s brilliant. Which bivvy bag did you go with? Half heartedly shopping for one at the moment
@@OutdoorsPatch I went with a highlander bag from military 1st, had it for years and it's never leaked, there are a lot of them on the market though, comes down to personal choice and a lot of trial and error to find the right one.
Hello, I'm in the UK and struggling to find smart water bottles that can fit the sawyer squeeze. Any advice on finding them would be great
Hi mate, you need a 28mm neck. I believe most carbonated drinks bottles use this size. If you want to a smart water bottle, look for the 600ml sparkling ones, I believe they should fit. There are also 600ml still smart water bottles which may also fit but I like the 850ml for the extra volume. Hope that helps
Merci d avance.
I suggest S with just a T shirt but it might be short in the sleeves. I am 186cm and now 84kg and M fits well
☹️ 'promo sm'!!!
Excuse me?
Quite cheap on Amazon 139. December time.
You haven’t put the door ,pull back right ,your supposed to put the 2 Velcro stripes together then offer it over to the inner tent ,it should be better then .
As a hat person im diggin that light
It’s awesome isn’t it👌🏻
If you're at 9.83/4.46 - but then state "that's not including this (snug pack blanket)" Then suffice to say you're not still sub ten. lol. Maybe you intended to state your summer vs 3 season kit is sub ten? Otherwise I'm Ultralight AF. I just don't include my bag, shelter, or pack, right? ;)
If it matters that much to you, yeah… I think you can easily get tied up in the numbers so I use it as more of a guide for what kit I’m taking and what time of year I’m going…
About time!!!!!!!! Finally got round to it you jack bastard I’ve been waiting months for this
Hmmm… my silpoly tent doesn’t absorb water…
Fair one. Poly is heavier and but less durable than nylon but has more of an advantage with waterproofing. I’ve never had one but friends of mine have said that they need to keep their’s proofed
@@OutdoorsPatch Heavier, I'm not sure either: mine (X-Mid 1p) weight less that 800g without the stakes... and I never get wet inside the inner wall despite rain and/or wind.
@@eric_festinger the differences are negligible between Ny and Poly. All depends on the design and how much fabric is used. It’s difficult to compare specific designs of tent as they use different materials
Cute dog
Nice video.. enjoyed learning about some of the gear you are using moving forward!
Good video. I really liked Woody. Also like your torch. I like hand held option for night hiking, much better depth perception and I like being able to put on my hat too. • I hated the CuloClean, I would rather use a brick. Now use the CuloClean to water my house plants.
Merino is great
I just ordered the long version because it suggested that for 6' people on the website but obviously that's bs. A bit more insulation I guess. Never used a quilt before, doing it to cut pack weight and try it out. For condensation I might improvise a protective cover
Hi, hope it works out well for you. I often have a damp foot end if it’s been touching the inside of my tent but so a cover for the foot box should work well (will provide extra heat retention too)
@@OutdoorsPatch always an issue I have with sleeping bags regardless, not convinced it's caused by dripping though. Best result I've had before is to prevent any dew point on the fabric by chucking some clothing over the bag. Think I'll try bunging the feet into the rucksack liner, can't imagine shins pumping out tons of water through the night lol
I have one of these and think it's great. Do you know if there is a bigger one it can nest in so you've got one for tea and one for food?
Hi, yeah there are a load of different sizes you can get. Toaks themselves do 550, 650, 700, 750, 900, 1100, 1300, 1350, 1600 and 2000ml. You’ll need one with a larger diameter than yours if you want it to nest though so at least 115mm diameter as your 550ml is probably 95mm. Hope that helps
Patch what was the name of the place where you got it? Sportshoot??
Sport pursuit, good website but slow delivery
@@seanmck2602 thanks mate. My Isobaa arrived, they sent it by RM 48hr delivery 👍
👍thanks
Hi, a good review thank you. As far as the door goes, are there two bits of velcro on the bottom edge. I think you are supposed to join them together before using the toggle, if that makes sense.
The buckle at the bottom of the outside door connects to a buckle at the top left of the inner tent to hold it up
Spot on
How has it held up Patch? Being 100% wool I am a little concerned about the durability underneath the rucksack straps and hipbelt. Thinking of going with a Merino blend instead, what do you think? Cheers
No dramas so far mate. No sign of bobbling or it misshaping at all. I use it quite a lot on the day to day as well and probably don’t wash it etc how it’s supposed to be washed. Worked very well for me👌🏻
@@OutdoorsPatch nice one mate 👍🏻 thanx for that, just gonna wait for another one of their Isobaa sales now. Happy Trails 🏕
Is this good for hiking in spring and autumn? I'm 5'5" 38 chest and 32 waist. Will medium fits me?
@@danabella6540 I was going to order a medium also, 6’1 40 chest 😂 Patch is wearing a medium in the video.

Great review
You might want to redo this as the microphone got muffled around 3 minute mark. But it was still useful visually. Thanks.
That's a lot of plastic!
Cotton dry bags and water bottles don’t tend to work that well… This probably uses less plastic than regular gear and is still getting reused… Thanks for the comment
love those rope tables!
WTF? I'm not bashing you dude but I cannot believe how little you carry? I trimmed down my kit the other night it now weighs in at 18Kg How long do you go out for?
It’s been a while dialling this in to be fair and a lot of research along the way. Usually for 2-5 days depending on what I’m doing but as long as I have a food resupply, this can pretty much last indefinitely. I’ve got a few videos on easy and cheap ways to lighten your load if you want to know more 🙂
@@OutdoorsPatch This is for your amusement but still very true. I just couldn't go hiking without whiskey or cigars, or a metal water bottle, or a decent knife, even my back up blade is a Swiss army knife bigger then your one, wool socks, big boots, med kit, fero rod, food lots & lots of food!! Enjoy this summer if you have any trips planned.
@@moorshound3243 Hey🤷🏼 whatever makes it enjoyable for you, swings and roundabouts at the end of the day. Hope you enjoy your future trips too! 🙂
You wear this in the winter? Where are you from?
The UK. We don’t often get heavy snow away from our mountainous areas 🙂
Just like he said in the video. The UK
How cold would it be before you added something to this set up?
Probably 2 degrees C at night to add the snugpak blanket and I’d take something else if it dropped below freezing
Cut that toothbrush in half!
Good setup !
Cheers mate!
I just bought sam FJERN Mens Aktiv Hooded Down Jacket (Burnt Orange/Navy. From Sportspursuit. Originally price was 190. Discount 58%. I pay 79.99 GB.
Thanks for good review.
Good review they are a good bit of kit👍 in fairness I tend to use puri tablets but not everyone like the tast and the organics are still in the water as the filter takes all the organic and biological mater out my brothers filter a squeeze has been pressed into service many times and has kept our party hydrated well in the warms summer hikes its flow rate is 👍 Thanks again subbed all the best Simon 🙏🏼👍
Cheers Simon! I’ve used tabs before but, yeah, not a fan of the bits😂 cheers for the comment!🙂
Is this the IF516 model? :)
That’s the one :)
Hi Patch, is the fjern Aktiv gilet, a good fit size
Hi, I have a 40 chest and the medium fits me snuggly but well. Any larger than 40 and I’d get a large
@@OutdoorsPatch thanks 👌
Hey mate. Thanks for the review. Do you think a 190cm tall person would fit inside?
Hi, I’m 186cm and fit well enough. I’m sure 190cm would fit, you’d have to put more effort to protect your bag/quilt from condensation though
@@OutdoorsPatch Thank you!
Thanks for the review! When it's fully lofted, what's the height of the quilt?
No worries. Probably about 2 inches for one layer of the quilt. So about 4 inches when used like a bag🙂
For ref SportPursuit own the Fjern brand (a bit like Wiggle and DHB)
Nice Hike Thumbs up
