  • @user-fq1xh7bg7gJoe_Frisina

    Joe here from NW PA. I appreciate knowing your driver swing concepts. Most of it I employ except that I am more vertical in my plane. I think I'd have trouble being flatter in my swing... maybe not. I'm willing to experiment. I admire your flexibility. Your analogies on transmission and engine are excellent. As I said before, 8 out of 10 of my drives are a straight or baby draws, and 2 may be a slight fade. I'm not worried about my driver and woods. It's the short game pitching, lobbing, and chipping that I practice the most. Thanks Artemago ps. remember it's your short game that helped me break 40. Incidentally. I've dropped my hdcp. by 6 strokes.

      Sometimes, but because irons are normally hit when the ball is on the ground or teed up close the ground, the difference between the address height position and the impact height position is not that substantial.

    When you are aligning the body to the target....should my body be aimed directly at the flag?

    • @Artemago
      @Artemago Před 8 dny

      I don’t have a clear cut answer for this question. I usually get my body oriented and aligned during my preshot routine. Where you align your hips and shoulders is variable. It depends on the type of shot. There are nuances about alignment and body position that I will have to come back and add later. Though, in general, I use a more open position for shorter shots where accuracy is priority over distance, and I use a squarer position (body aligned to target) for longer irons, woods, and driver when I need more power and less accuracy.

    • @seanconcannon7922
      @seanconcannon7922 Před 8 dny

      @@Artemago Thanks...so when using longer irons do you place your body pointing directly at the target or parallel to the target?

    • @Artemago
      @Artemago Před 8 dny

      I would not get too involved in the minutia of details here. Body position will vary from shot to shot depending on various factors like slope, lie, etc. I suggest, rather, trying out different positions and understanding what type of shot, trajectory, and direction these different positions produce. I feel that the important thing is to orient your body in such a manner that you can deliver the club path towards the target with a square face through impact.

    I have also heard some instructors say that when you extend your arms, your grip should be vertically in line with the balls of your feet. Could you explain that contradiction? Thanks

    • @Artemago
      @Artemago Před 8 dny

      There are certainly multiple ways to setup and address the golf ball. What I am sharing with you here is merely my way of conceptualizing the golf swing. To generate power I aim to utilize a long lever. And that lever will be at its longest when my arms are extended, and with the driver, that would put them past my feet. But when chipping or pitching or approaching, my arms will be less extended making a smaller angle with my torso, and the hands may very well be close to vertical with the feet.

    Years ago I saw CZcams instructors promoting an open stance for chipping and pitching. Always wanting to improve, I gave it an honest try. Yet I kept pulling everything to the left of my target. So I went back to my parallel stance. Over time I tried it a few more times, yielding the same results; so I gave up on it. Recently I stumbled upon your channel and watched your chipping and pitching videos. Your thorough teaching style intrigued me enough to try it again. You have provided elements of the technique with instruction that others did not; and it is working great for me now. In my recent couple of rounds of golf, my accuracy has greatly improved. I have literally hit the flag stick twice and almost jarred out into the cup twice. I am making better ball contact, so now I need to adjust my distance control accordingly. You are making a difference out here, where others have failed. Please keep up the great work that you are doing. You have a unique teaching style, that I sincerely appreciate. THANK YOU! Putting on the breaks with the upper body has been a major lightbulb for me. For years I have been watching videos and never has this been mentioned. All I ever heard was "hold the lag", "power through the ball", "max power should be after the ball", "the swoosh should be past the ball". I had to turn my hands over really hard or it was a high fade and even if it drew it was only going about 240. Super frustrating. Now it's more like 280. Super happy.

    • @Artemago
      @Artemago Před 9 dny

      @EdKrisiak Once you start to hit the ball solidly and the ball flight is high, you may need to reduce the loft of your driver. Or find an appropriate tee height that gives you the proper trajectory. Or both. By swinging up on it, we are essentially adding loft to the driver. So, if you are swinging upwards at 5 degrees and hitting a 10 degree driver, then your effective loft is 15 degrees!

      @Artemago Před 9 dny

      @@geoffbickford It’ll come. Keep trying. At the very least, you will learn something new. The methods I show you here will bear fruit over time. These ideas are to be tested, developed, and adapted over multiple range sessions, and not on the course. Changes to golf mechanics and movement happen slowly and are best practiced one at a time with a slow, deliberate pace and tempo. A solid, fluid, powerful golf swing takes time to develop.
