It looks like auditions may have simplified over the years. When I auditioned for Concert choir, (years ago), I first auditioned for the Assistant, then the Professor, with a prepared vocal solo piece and similar range and ear training exercises. If you were chosen, your name was posted on a list for first callbacks. If you passed that, then you went to second callbacks, before a decision was made on the final cut. That was Concert Choir though, Men's Chorus may just have a different process.

Ah. Saw this at ACTF! I was blown away! Although the entire cast was phenomenal, the cellist was my favorite part. Her acting and playing was what brought it all together. I so wish I could own a performance on DVD or something.
