Why does BMac like to overpay on trades? Mangipane is a good, hard working energy guy, that can chip in 15-20 goals but no way he's worth Oshie money. Also I think the Caps could have traded down in the draft and still get Tarik. Most teams saw him as below average in most scouting criteria (but above average intelligence /hockey IQ). Plus his skating needs a lot of work.

he needs some muscle, i think he will make it after ovi retires. crystal same timeline. lapriere may get traded for a free agent the way Mac has been acting(i hope not), leaving mcmicheal(maybe he gets traded) and mayo as top prospects, hope frank gets a chance. suzy may break through as well. i love the job management has always done , just think we are a little too quick to deal this year.

i may be reading into management differences, i think mac is tossing players at spencer saying make it work. spencer wants bigger d and not addressed yet,mac thinks alexioff is good enough to take over on the blueline. theses trades seem to want to get it over with rather than negotiate, nothing added from desperate kings to save their gms job , nothing from calgary to take on 5.8 million and we give them a 2nd rounder, we coud have traded back and got terik easily.is mac afraid of paperwork? why didnt Carbury join mac on stage? i dont think coach and gm are on same page. maybe mac is retiring and just throwing some hail marys, i love the pipeline mac and staff have ,but this year something is very off imo.

Terik Parascak had a great rookie season this year in the WHL (105 pts, 43 goals). His shot, playmaking ability and offensive positioning are all arguably elite-level. His only real weakness appears to be his skating, which the Caps organisation have already shown themselves more than capable of fixing (ie Wilson, Protas). Craig Button had him at #13. Besides that, my favourite quote about him was from Daniel Gee of Eliteprospects Rinkside, who said about Parascak, and I quote; "He flew so far under the radar he may as well have been a B2 stealth bomber."

Wanting to 'address goal scoring' when Cole Eiserman was still on the board. This is a guy regarded by a vast majority of mocks and scouts to be a 2nd round guy. Not only could a team dropped down to take him, but they also had plenty of better options. He is extremely raw and incomplete, and his perceived offensive IQ is not enough to fill in the massive gaping holes in his game.

So they signed Zac funk in March and just drafted parascak. What's the likelihood they draft ondřej becher at some point on day 2 so they can have that whole prince george line haha

Looks like the scout who looked at Zac Funk was impressed by his teammate Tarik Parascak…will be interesting to see if they both make it to the big club

Chernychov never even got picked on the 1st rd. Gonna be a steal for a team in the 2nd rd. Parascak was a little off the board. Didn't really hear much about him leading up to the draft. But the more i looked up on him the more i lile the pick. Always love hearing 'high IQ' with the prospects. And 'super rookie' is not a bad nickname

The Caps should try to aggressively move up into the top 12 and grab themselves a defenseman. Iorio and Chesley are good prospects, but neither projects to be first-pairing calibre. We need a blue chipper at the d-position to succeed Carlson. 2 years from now, we're effectively looking at a d-core of Sandin and Fehervary and not much else. This draft has a plethora of high-potential D-man options. With Levshunov, Buium, Parekh, Dickinson, Silayev and Yakemchuk available, at least one should fall into that range. With McMike, Lappy, Miro, Cristal, Protas and Leonard we already have a very underrated pool at the forward positions. And let's not forget a dark horse in Trineyev who had a great year in Hershey this year.

We know Ovechkin wants another Stanley Cup and we know Ovechkin is skating on borrowed time. We also know Ted Leonsis is loyal to a fault. I'm going to suggest BMGM has the green light (or is it the red light?) to make any deal he can swing.

Mangiapane was a fantastic add, he is an absolute work horse! caps fans gonna love his nose for the net and great shot! Love this move. Hope the caps go with the best available player at the draft, would love to see them add another forward 1st round and go for a d later in the draft.

They brought in PLD and now Mangiapane! How about bringing Mantha back? I thought he was a dynamic Cap.

Well people have been saying for a bit that the Caps are a team of Pierre-Luc Dubois so I guess in an ironic sense it’s only natural he would wind up in Washington. I hope that being with his friend on the same team, that Strome will do what good friends are for and to tell PLD that he needs to check his bad attitude at the door.

I worry about Guentzel’s production without a top tier center. His entire career he has had Crosby and Aho as his center. What happens when he has PLD or Strome or even McMichael as his center? I would rather spend a little less and get someone like Teräväinen and use the extra improving the D because other than Carlson we have nothing but 4-6 D.

What’s up Dan , Kings fan here , i would say PLD does seem to always say the right things when he talks to media but he would never translate what he says onto the ice , so I would take what he says with a grain of salt. But hopefully the change of coaches and scenery he becomes a solid contributor to your team

As a person that's been pretty critical of PLD I will say a few things here: 1 his contract will never be a "good" contract but it will soften over time. 2 he seems to have the right mindset (but he's seemed that way before) 3 most importantly he was traded before free agency and he will have a full off season with his new team to get to know them and find his place with this organization

Credit to GMBM! Cap space is $3.7 + $9.2(Backstrom) + possibly $5.75(Oshie)= $18.65, not $15. Patches is not on the payroll, so not signing him does not increase Cap space. (His $2 Bonus is already factored) Caps organization is solid! Players want to play here. Oddly, most Cap fans want us to become the Coyotes, the Blue Jackets, the Sabres, etc. Tanking and accumulating top draft picks is for idiots. We now have (2) #3 Overall picks to build on, (Strome and Dubois)...and a bunch of talented up and comers in the system. Who brought them to the Caps? I think he is much better at evaluating than any of us, with much more insightful information we fans arent privy to. Mantha trade - Caps won!!! (Most fans bashed GMBM) Fans wanted Mantha buyout. Fans wanted Kuzy buyout. Fans wanted Backy buyout. GMBM has a much better pulse on the situations, and has a much deeper plan in place. I sit back and give support. Getting DuBois is like getting a boat. The two happiest days of any boat owner's life are the day they acquire the boat and the day they get rid of it. Ask any Kings, Jets or Blue Jackets fan if the analogy fits. LOL. Never mind what teams have gotten back. All these clubs seem to be just happy to get rid of him. That's pretty damning, IMO. Friedman and others have never mentioned Washington when talking about Guentzel...what insiders are you referring to? The Caps are a couple years away from entering a rebuild. They have 13M in cap left and need to re-sign Malenstyn, McMichael, and sign a backup goalie and 2 more forwards. Guentzel will likely command around 9M alone. Sorry but Caps have almost 0 chance of getting Guentzel
