    Looking at this Harbor Freight model and the Bilt Hard, which is the same price (actually only $279 from one supplier) and is 15 amp, 6.5 ton, so I think my choice is obvious. I still don't care for the fact you need to shut the motor off for the ram to come back. There are a few if the 7 and 9 tone splitters that are only one hand operation, where the motor stays running (quite a bit more money) so I'm sure there is a modification that can be made on there splitters also.

      @NorthEastFool Před měsícem

      @@PainterD54 what I understood about the two hand operation is in fact a safety feature to avoid inexperienced people hurt their hands, this way both of their hands is away from the log (so I read somewhere).sure one hand operation or even a foot paddle would be nice, I am thinking of making the change.

  • @PainterD54
    @PainterD54 Před měsícem

    I believe turning the motor on and off is what burns out the capacitor eventually. I would leave the motor on with a different switch.

  • @PainterD54

    Did you just throw the owner manual away? WTF? First you should always check and see if there is enough hydraulic fluid in the tank before you start splitting and you forgot to open the bleed screw before splitting. You are going to blow out your seals.

      for a small job, water jet with a shop wet vacuum would be the easiest. Larger rock no matter which methods, you will need a jack hammer to break them.

    I think you are very inexperienced with this particular splitter. Otherwise you would have realized that one end was not cut square, so it popped out a couple of times. That end should be toward the splitter head, so that the head would dig in immediately. Also, many times you did not let the ram go to its full length, that caused a partial split which you had to mess around with!

    Suggest you hone the splitting wedges leading edge to almost knife like. It allows the split to start easier & less stressful for the machine.

    Thanks - appreciate that you sped it up, so I could watch unboxing and usage quickly. Some splitters require you open the hydraulic bleed screw before operating. I didn't notice you do that, but maybe that's not required for the HF unit, or perhaps you didn't record that part.

    So strange, making your splits so small, I like mine about twice the size of yours so a couple make an overnighter fire for my wood heater....also you need to remove those hose clamps so you get another 1/2" length for that longer wood!

      If you are splitting hard wood, make sure no one is standing on the knife side. Specially small children. So the best practice is to make sure keep clear on the right hand side.

    Question - why are you splitting your wood so small. You have fairly small rounds and you split them into quarters? They are already dry! Why not just split in half? I do have this splitter and I recommend if you want to speed up the operation a little, buy an adjustable bar C type clamp from Harbor Freight and just clamp the on off button down, then your switch becomes your power cord! I like this splitter and use it all the time in a 1 handed operation! Had it now for over 15 years and still runs great!

    I am cleaning it up so when I use the remote controlled mower, they will not be in the way, there are many within 100’ from the house and this is the area I need to clear every year before the fire season start. No, the area probably never had human activity before they build the ranch about 25 years ago. There are a lot of wild animals . I haven’t seen much but recent month, wild pig. Mountain lion, bear, we’re seen at the ranch.

    This is the failed idea of using liquid pump to pump liquid argon through a set of heat exchangers to let liquid argon go through warm gas phase and then back to liquid. This concept was replaced with a warm gas pump which works perfectly. Liquid argon was pumped by a warm gas pump through a set of heat exchangers and return the argon back to liquid phase.
