Where do u get the holders from or did u make them? Trying to make one
@latosha7949 my husband and I designed some specifically for this and then laser cut them.
@@shishonaturner4200 thank you
Nice❤
Thank you for giving me my school assignment for free.
Would be nice if you told us what Glowforge you’re using. Aura can’t do as much as the others. And also why aren’t you using the GF design space? Lots of unanswered questions. Poor video
Thanks for the feedback. Note this video was made more than 3 years ago before the Glowforge design space and the Aura existed. At that time, the only Glowforge options were the Basic, Plus and Pro. All of which are C02 lasers and only differ by 5W. The Aura is a diode laser and was just released in 2023. As an original contributor to Glowforge during the crowdfunding launch, it's been awesome to see the growth of the company and the fulfillment of campaign promises they made. The original GFUI (Glowforge User Interface) did not have the capabilities it does now. We used other design programs and then imported the design into the GFUI. Please know enough about the topic before criticism. Good luck on your learning journey. Shishona
How do you place an order for the pieces?
este inkscape já está fora de validade
How do I change the outline in the name so it doesn’t vectorize?
I'm sorry. I don't know. Why would you want it to not vector? If you just want to preserve the name of the font, then make a copy and put it off to the side before you do the next steps.
Nice vid this helped me alot
so I have thought about using permanent magic markers and highlight markers on Birch plywood to do the artwork for a Risk gameboard, and I'm hoping that the wood grain does not show thru, which I assume it will? might have to use some kind of paint I suppose?
Yes, the wood grain will show through. You can put down a layer of white paint first. The markers won't act the same then, though.
@@shishonaturner9002 OK thanks I picked up a sample size of Birch plywood just to experiment with those things so thank you
Everything was really helpful... BUT.. how do I get that alignment menu to come up?
Object - Align & Distribute It’s at the very bottom or Shift+CTRL+M This will open the menu so it’s available on the right.
Hi My name is April Mathis. How did you cut the wood? What is the name of your machine?
Glowforge Pro laser
This was the most helpful and easy to follow Glowforge video I’ve ever seen. I’m incredibly grateful for you. My freaking hero right now 🏆❤️
Thank you, that helped me so much.
when back object to normal mode (3:50) am see only one, second is behined of name? maybe help?
I have magnets that are strong enough for the glowforge to think the door is closed, however it would not take a photo to re- align while using the "passthrough" mode. Do you have an tips on using the magnet hack correctly.
Hi Jessica, I’m sorry I just saw this. Were you able to get it to work? I don’t know of any trick to get passthrough mode to work while using the magnets. Typically, you are using the magnet hack because the item is too thick to use the passthrough slot. You can manually click on refresh bed image but this doesn’t help you with the passthrough mode.
Hi! good video and good explanation! What software do you use to laser engrave? thanks
For this, I was using a Glowforge. The software is Inkscape and then it loads into the Glowforge User Interface. I'm now learning Lightburn for the giant laser.
How much do you charge to make a staff and what's the turnaround time?
At this time, I'm not taking commissions on them.
Hi. I'm new to laser engraving, I bought a sculpfun s9 and downloaded inkscape and it seems to work fine, but my laptop can't find the laser engraver, can you help me out with that please? Thank you
Welcome to laser engraving! I’m sorry I’m not familiar with that laser. You can join some groups on Facebook and pose the question there. I’d recommend “That Mom With a Laser Community”. Also contact who sold it to you. :)
@@Pauseibilities ok thanks
Thank oyu for doing a nice job with the video. Could you place let me know where you brought your spoons? I would like to try and do this for a fun raiser for my daughters school she works at. Thank you
Hi! Thank you! I sourced them from a factory in China. They were the first items in my available blanks inventory for Making Blank. I wholesale them to others now for their engraving needs.
@@Pauseibilities Could yo please tell me how much they are from you .
@@rameyj2 I’m so sorry! I never saw your 2nd comment. :( They are $1.25 through Making Blank. makingblank.com/products/high-quality-bamboo-utensil-sets
I like thank you.
Wow that was really cool
Big help...thanks a ton
Thank you love it!!
Thank you so much! This was the first thing I was able to make on my glowforge because of this video. I like that you go a bit faster, because I like to watch first and then rewind and pause when needed. I hate videos that are too slow because I lose interest! Thanks again!
Loved this video. I had tried the magnet idea but my magnets weren't heavy enough. I KNEW it was possible! Thanks for sharing!
can't hear u when u r in your glow forge area. just like don't talk n put up words on ur screen when u edit it.
Where did you find your board?
They are 3 boards per box.
Very helpful for me
How thick are these boards?
0.59”
is this the free version? for some reason, my outside didn't go like yours
Yes. Inkscape is free. I’m not sure why it didn’t go like mine.
where do you source the acacia from? I have been aggressively scanning the glowforge community for any info on it lol
I source them from my factory in India as a wholesaler here in the US. MakingBlank is the business name on FB and makingblank.com. These large boards were made by special request by me specifically for the Glowforge. Our next shipment comes towards the end of January.
What is you name on Esty if we want to order?
Pauseibilities. I sell the file but I don’t make and assemble the pole for shipping. I’ve been asked to design/cut pieces and ship them for the customer to paint and assemble on their own. I’ve thought about it but haven’t gotten there.
thanks for the magnet tip. what setting did you use for engraving the cutting board?
I use full power, 1000 speed, 270 or 340 LPI depending on the graphic.
I'm sorry I didn't see this. I use full power/full speed/340 LPI
Which glow forge is this?
This is a pro, but it doesn’t matter because each model is the same size.
@@Pauseibilities - Hi! What size is the cutting board? The cutting board I want to use is 16 x 12 x 1.5 inches and I have a Basic not Pro
(love your magnet hack by the way!)
@@vivianlai9040 these are 0.59” thick. 23”x10” or so.
@@vivianlai9040 the size you listed will fit if you take the crumb tray out. You may need a small lifter so 1/8” scrap wood will work. You don’t need the magnet hack for the size you list unless you want to engrave to all sides. The 12” is just outside the allowable engraving area.
When i click path and then outset, it does nothing. Why is that??
Yes same here I’m so confused
@@TaylorTamaTime If you are using a downloaded image, you may have to trace as a Bitmap Path. Thats what worked for me
I’m not sure. I’m also not sure why I didn’t see this comment. It’s obviously a bit old. If you still need help, email the file to me at shishona@pauseibilities.life and I’ll see if I can figure something out.
I got my key chains cut in wood, this tutorial helped alot. You just have to slow/stop it at parts.
I am trying to create three staffs like this
would you sell those clamps you created?
I can. I have the file for this design on Etsy but it doesn’t have the clamps. I’d need to take a trip down memory lane and find the file. We went through a few versions of creation. I did learn a lot with making this so if you want to chat about lessons learned, I’m happy to. The clamps work well, but not if the MDF has paint, which these pieces did. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t use MDF. I’d use baltic birch ply that I usually use for creations. The mdf couldn’t handle the stress for where it was clamped and peeled away the paint and some of the wood. Even though these are decoration, the letters have to withstand staying on the pole while being carried around. Also, this project is a labor of love. I’ve had several requests to make it and ship it but that would be upwards of $200 with time, materials, and shipping.
Email me at shishona@pauseibilities.life.
I was trying 2 follow how u were doing this but u were going so fast...🤷♂️u not telling what u are clicking on in the software.
where do i get the honeycomb pins??
Melynda Barber there is a file in the GF forum and I’m pretty sure it’s also been saved in GUG and GRC files. Super helpful. I use my scraps and make a basket of them at a time.
Pauseibilities thank you so much. So I don’t need the mask these to keep them from scorching?
Melynda Barber, I don’t. A quick rinse of water and wipe with cloth cleans up any of the afterburn. If you are using bamboo at least. I’ve done several brands and they’ve been fine.
Really? All that and I don’t get to see the end result! Not good.
SHADOW LIVING the end result is in the picture. It’s the long “Merry”.
I love both the keyboard and the left-side prompts. Great video, informative and great quality!
Pauseibilities
Where do you get the poles? And what’s the size?
I got the pole from our local building supply/lumber store. I think they are marketed as banister poles. The size of the pole was 6 feet tall and total height with the bird on top was about 6.5 feet tall.
There is another video sequence with the initial design creation.
Fast forward to start at 2:40 mark. We had technical difficulty with streaming so restarted the stream.
Does the glowforge open on both sides of the plus model?
No. None of the models open on both sides.
I love the idea, Did you finish the project? I'd love to see the completed project.
I did finish the project and now I have an order for another. :) I posted the video and pictures on the channel.
Really nice thumbnail on this one.
