    • @TheTurnipOfTerror
      @TheTurnipOfTerror Před 8 měsíci

      What an amazing question. I actually have a bit of information already presented on the Kickstarter info page regarding conservation and working to cultivate natural, native plantlife. However, in the town itself, such as in the messuage of each cottage, we would seek to have flora which would be more appropriate to England and Northern Europe. With the border of natural conservation land I don't anticipate a negative impact in the local environment, no worse than lawns grass. In the fields of course there will be historical crops, and we can also (since we don't need to actually feed the town) keep certain consumables on hand such as reed and thatch. I'll do a follow up video. Great question!

    I am also pretty sure it did not have the same consistency or flavour we have today, unless they had a way of thickening it and used honey or sugar as a sweetener, which may have been cost prohibitive for the commoner. I've tried fresh soy milk. The best description is left over soy water, not much flavor, certainly not sweet and no milky consistency in the slightest. 😐 I'll just drink water, thank you. 😅

    • @TheTurnipOfTerror
      @TheTurnipOfTerror Před 8 měsíci

      Consistency is about the same, we sweeten most of our milks in a way they likely did not. However, in other recipes, such as barley water, it is in the recipe to add sugar to the cup before drinking, instead of sweetening the entire batch, so they may have sweetened it at the moment of drinking. Depending on the time period, sugar started to become available to every strata, depending on where you are.

      @@tilasole3252 no, I'm not talking about oat milk I don't like oatmilk either I tried it, almond milk however is actually quite good, and of course you have the option of sweetened and non sweetened , I occasionally get the sweetened stuff as a treat, and honestly the reason I made the switch isn't because I'm some kind of crazy liberal advocating for alternate foods, I primarily did it for medical reasons. A few years ago I was unfortunately diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and I'm the type of guy who absolutely positively loves my milk I can't get enough of milk, and when I met with the dietitian and she was talking about what's recommended for my diet, she said I could only have one glass of milk a day or at least that's the recommended serving for a diabetic, and I said that's going to drive me crazy because I absolutely love milk, and then I asked her is there any way that I could cheat a little bit so I can still have as much milk as I want, and she recommended almond milk and if you find the right brand name, some of them actually do a pretty good job. Almond breeze is pretty good, and of course like I said the Hy-Vee brand they do pretty good too, as far as what you're describing I've never experienced anything like that.... And I'm very sorry that made you pay rent for a bottle that's ridiculous... But I will tell you this, ever since I started drinking almond milk the thing about that is it's high in magnesium, and products high in magnesium have typically been associated with weight loss. I am starting to notice as well as my family.

      @@TheTurnipOfTerror to be honest, the only soy milk I enjoy and really any plant milk, is Whole Foods Organic Unsweetened Soy Milk, which is about the only thing I buy from that store. Not that I have tried them all, but they are all more expensive and I simply have not enjoyed most that I have tried. I had to return one oat milk, because it literally tasted like oat water, with the supposed "milk" being $5 or $6 and the jar cost $5 or something to just to take it home, meaning they were loaning you the jar. I could make that at home, a lot cheaper and probably taste the same, meaning not good.

    Ontop of security, there's also the potential issue with medical access. You're going to need a way to call in EMTs and handle ambulances/careflight which a proper medieval village wouldn't have to deal with there Plus worry about building codes in the first place.

    • @TheTurnipOfTerror
      @TheTurnipOfTerror Před 9 měsíci

      Building codes are likely going to be a hurdle, which is why we've opened up talks with an historical architecture firm, who will be able to answer those questions in a way I don't have the expertise to. Medical response is definitely a concern. One of those behind the scenes notes I had was to ensure there was at least one "village green" which confirms to the 100' around best practice LZ expectations of a lifeflight helicopter. Likewise concealed med kits will be available throughout the village and there will be at least two "powered" zones where there will be concealed electricity, to include an AED.

    basically telling people to talk like politicians... no thanks some people just need to grow up not everything in life is pleasant and sometimes you just don't like the truth and that's why it hurts. If instead people were all honest and told each other things as they were and instead of always looking for blame they instead looked for solutions it would be so much easier... but alas better not hurt peoples feelings rather than have clear and open conversations.

      @@stasianatanasov6294 as you said, not everything in life is pleasant and it feels like hurt when you hear the truth. I hear you, and accept that you appear committed to the very theme I advise against: not having to use tact by packaging it up as the ultimate ideal of honesty. I disagree with that philosophy, but I also am not under any illusion I'm going to convince anyone over text replies. So I accept you the way you are. Stay true to you.

      I absolutely wanted to avoid being misconstrued as name calling others, but I 100% agree that while some do this unintentionally, bullies universally use "innocent bluntness" as a purity shield to hide behind.

    Thanks for the video and a nice list of must haves! I have most things on your top 10 list already checked, but the video gave me some new ideas! :) I had hoped that you would show some examples of the items in the video, but I enjoyed it nonetheless! :D
