Hello - welcome to my CZcams channel.
I've created featured playlists for choral and instrumental music and a separate playlist for my media music.
I'm a composer of contemporary music, whether for choir, orchestra, jazz ensemble or wind band. My music has been heard on TV, in advertising, in the concert hall and on many radio broadcasts.
My music has been performed, recorded and broadcast by many eminent musicians and ensembles, including cellist Caroline Dale, the English Chamber Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the choirs Tenebrae, Commotio and Cantate, and soloists Grace Davidson, Charlotte Page and Natasha Marsh.
I've written extensively for jazz ensemble, with six pieces recorded by the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain, of which I was a member for six years.
As well as being a published composer I'm the author of several books, including 'How to Read Music' (Music Sales), 'How to Crack Music Theory' (Music Sales) and 'Jazzworks' (ABRSM).

CHRISTMAS CARD 2022
This is my virtual Christmas card for 2022. Merry Christmas everyone. It comes in two parts: first a Carol I wrote a few years ago, in a setting for choir and brass band. Second is a bit of Christmas trombone fun. I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

This is Thomas Fountain giving the world premiere of the cornet solo "Do Not Go Gentle". It's based on the Dylan Thomas poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night". It's an emotional cry from the heart of a son who knows he is about to lose his beloved father, and he entreats him to "rage against the dying of the light". Just listen to Thomas' gorgeous cornet sound.

This is a short piece for brass bands of all standards. It has short solos for two front row cornets, soprano, flugelhorn, solo horn, trombone and euphonium. It should be easily manageable by 4th section and youth bands, and should be musically challenging enough to satisfy bands up to the top level.

A really good job, Mike. I have been browsing various musical implementations of this verse, and found your work by sheer chance. You may not know that there is also a number of songs on the same Burns' poem written by Russian musicians. I can give you links to them, in case you don't know (but I think you do). Best of luck!

I feel like I've made half of those views. How come they're not over at least 100k?! This is what I call a masterpiece! I felt in love with this piece, and I can't stop listening to it. I was looking all over the internet to find music score of this lullaby, just to find out there is none, because it's so little known… I am now half way through a musical school (where they teach us to act in musicals) and my wedding is quite soon. I decided to sing this for my graduation concert if I'll get pregnant till this time. Those words help me understand what motherhood feels like. And this music is pure emotions sung. Thank you for sharing it!

Ok so it’s been about 6 years and I’m sure you’ve grown a lot as a composer so you totally come back to this and expand on. Especially that middle section so it’s a little easier to pick out the many themes in it. This has sooo much potential!
I agree Zachary. The problem is that I was constrained as to length by the competition I entered with this piece. If I could get a performance with a good orchestra/choir I would certainly expand the piece (my original draft was over 10 minutes, and I had to cut it down).
