I was driving from Florida to Massachusetts and took a long detour in order to go to Parnassus today--so disappointed to find it closed! But it means I get to plan another trip soon…😁

First: Christmas comes early - see all the blinking lights! Second: Who ist that dog?! And he reminds me of some book lovers, who come in the store and are walking up and down, like, no, I have just not found, what I was looking for, because I have such a very special taste.

Okay, sounds weird, I'm watching this on July 19th, and it was probably about July 8th or 9th I pulled this book from my shelf and started reading. I'll finish it this weekend, and YES! it's been the perfect novel for right now.

Publishers should be giving you commission!!! You're wonderful! I wish I lived in your country, in your neighbourhood, so I could pop by and listen to you wax poetic about books, and buy some of course.;-)

Excellent recommendations! DFW and Sam Beckett are the two authors who most frequently drove me to the dictionary. If you didn't know the word chances were, it was the PERFECT word for that sentence. Even, perhaps especially, when the reading was infuriating, you could learn something very interesting.

I would be sitting in a park homeless because I would have spent all my money on books in your store if I lived in your city, and country. What a good writer you are, and what an enthusiastic book seller, and just very decent human being.

Funnily enough, I read On Beauty for the first time this week! I really enjoyed it. So much to think about in it, too, as well as pure enjoyment.

I don’t know that it’s actually a first edition, but I have a hardback 1959 copy of Act One with the dust jacket and I love it. As a show business memoir it is incomparable.

I remember when all those years ago you said you wanted a book store so you could sell “Act One.” It is such a lively memoir. So many contemporary memoirs recount miserable lives. This is a wonderful corrective to that.

I remember Kitty Carlisle wearing those gorgeous evening gowns on game shows. I was a child and thought she was beautiful.

Ann, I don't know if you're reading these comments, but this video has me near tears in part because the day you recorded it was the day before my beloved 14 yo dog, Tipper, died. I read your books but have never known about your videos; a friend just sent me your video introducing Nemo to remind me that I can bring home and love a new dog even though I'll still love and be sad about my departed darling. I hope Nemo, your new family member, helps your heart heal - or perhaps heel, obeying the laws of love.
