I abused sketchy research chemical psychedelics and wandered the hallways of my high school listening to this. It probably fucked my life up, I have nothing to show for it, but my dead crusty friends are bigger Martyrs than I can even imagine. This came out when the band was already dead as fuck... I wish you loved each other more so that you could have produced content to influence even more stupid young punkers.

Difference between crust yesterday and today, Crust bands back then could actually play. They made music that happened to be crust. They werent trying to copy any other crust punk bands. Being influenced is not the same thing as blatant copies. I like MAss Grave but they might as well use the name disrupt. Its the bands who define the sounds that end up being so influential. I just wish punk would go back to the 80s and 90s, when bands all had distinct styles. Sure some bands were similar like disrupt and destroy, but the styles in which they make the music is different from each other, and they werent all trying to copy the same vocal styling. Felix Havoc, had a unique voice, in that he wasnt doing deeps in the same way grind bands did deeps. His voice was just deep, so sometimes he would go beastial, other times he wouldnt, but it had a distinct style because of how he sung and how his voice sounded. My punk band back in the day was highly influenced by one particular Destroy song. M isery. The song had such a distinct sound compared to the rest of the album, and there were no bands trying to do something like it, but as a full sound and style, then do their own thing with it. Thats what i did. I was able sing like the vocalist in that song, so i made it my signature style. Never doing deeps. Since my band didnt want to be crust punk. We just wanted to be hardcore punk with a crusty edge. BEcause it was made up of me a crust punk at the time, and 2 street ppunks and one early hardcore kid as our drummer. I wanted to create a unique sound that would appeal to street and crust punks. A bit like toxic narcotic. But more simplified and less heavy since our guitarist didnt like crust. He was a street punk so thats what he wrote and played. So when we got together it was like a perfect storm. We ended up with a sound that even i liked listening to. IMO the best bands in the scene were unique compared to the rest. and thats what we cared about doing. I wish more bands would do that. Good examples are RAMBO, ABC diablo, Sanctum, toxic narcotic, catharsis, nausea. Not enough bands cross genre's. Too many are either stret punk purely or crust punk purely. When the music should reflect the scene. There are no more crust punks and street punks. ITs one scene. So bands that blend the two styles to appeal to both are way too rare. I think if more darker hardcore punk bands used street punk influences and street punk use some crust influences, We would be getting a much wider variety of bands and new music. Instead we are getting the 1000th version of disrupt. OVer and over. I love disrupt but they are one band with one sound. Be original man. PEople wonder why the scene is dying out and smaller, its because theres no room for dissent or individuality. Which is essentially what life styles eventually devolve into. a uniform. a requirement. a correct way to do things, and wrong way to do things. I used to think like that. Now I say, punk is punk, and there should never be a dress code, because being an individual at the cost of others respect represents the actual essence of punk, something many bands have forgotten. Getting lost in the politics, the left VS right bullshit dichotomy. Bringing fuckin hippie shit into punk, when it originally became a thing because punks hated their hippy parents and lifestyles. Keep in mind when the wider core ideology of punk was forming it was the 80s. So there was no collectivsim, there was no animal liberation out side of unique bands and their politics like extreme noise terror. Theyre thing was animal rights, hey thats cool, but it shouldnt be a universal piece of punk. You dont have to be vegan, In fact id say alot of what i believed as a crust punk was bullshit. and tody i dentify more with Destroy and GBH. anarchist and rebellion ideology. Against the bylaws of punk, and society. Both can kiss my ass. Punk is a fashion. It always has been. and the fact that the scene cant admit that just shows how limiting it is in expression, or rebellion. If you call someone a poser cause they dont see things like you do, Then Id say that other person is the poser, because they are impeding draconian rule on their fellow punks. I always found punks were actually more critical of people. Since I was. HAd I known back then what i know now, I think i could influenced more people to see the world as it is. Not as what they wish it was. a bullshit utopia that would never work and end up falling into tyranny and control because it doesnt allow dissenting contradictory logic. Human beings were meant to disagree. Conflict is inevitable. Thats why our current system has lasted as long as it has without collapsing. Systems are just people, so they are as about as corrupt or pure as the people pushing and pulling that wheel. BAsically we cant exist without offending or diagreeing with someone. So trying to crush that out of society by calling it cool to punish systems keeping people alive, that are older then us, so we dont need to bring them down. We just have to fix what already is and works. That way we can get the best of both worlds. Building a new world, and keeping the ideals from the old one that worked. Anarcho capitalism, imo is true punk. BEcause its about pulling yourself up to escape poverty, and take that luck and do soemthing good with it. Like building a house on a few acres and letting bands play there, creating a safe environment to hang out where the cops wont be called, and women wont be raped. Punk needs to evolve. OR watch as i did, leaving the scene for hacker culture and cyber punk.
