Only a small fragment remains of the engagement mechanism to this manure spreader, but maybe I can rob other old horse drawn equipment to help me make this works again. Sometimes it's a combination of pilfering and fabricating to make something work. Thanks for coming along!

Two little hinges and a partial frame was all that was left that hinted of a rear window in this shepherd's wagon. Beautiful piece of fabrication works perfect and looks like it belongs.thank Dave
The correct terminology is " fabricobble"
I think you should engrave a plate and pin it on that to tell a future re-builder what you took it off of. "Oh yeah, I can see that. Pretty clever!" A lesson from the past. :)
thank you
Dave lives by the rule that no matter how busy you are there’s always time to pet the cows.
Well thought out and fabricated Dave. I also like the volume level of the soothing music. Rare for me.
Very nice!
Great work as always Dave! The noise really isn’t a problem!
is that from sears?
Sure hope those seats have cushions…
Hi I have a truck with a wood bed. Will staining it like you do the wagons help it last?
I believe you can build one of those to without A doubt in mind also. Good 🤞 luck to you.,an lots of success to come. Happy wagon repairing and restorations to you also.
I've found A bunch on that subject myself. And I thought I'd share the information with you to about it as we'll. Hope it helps you out with your wagon repairs and restorations projects to now.
I just found You your own way. To make Your cast iron offset gears and more from scratch. By building A foundry out of water heater and Red fired brick clay mix powder. For putting in the cast iron pieces to melt down.,an dumping it into extruders dumps. For pouring out molting hot cast iron metal into your molds that you imprint.,or impressed from the original gear your trying to duplicate.,or copy pattern of. Made out of fired brick clay.,or silicone molds and beach sand to let cool down completely. The CZcams has other channels that can possibly teach and show you how to DIY your own foundry setups.,or at least help you out with it some more. To get you on the right path way.,an the right direction on how to go about doing that type of blacksmith forging and cast pouring your own materials and parts at home.
Clever beyond belief. Excellent skills.👏👏
Don't worry about the noise. I didn't hear any of it 'till you pointed it out.
Many years of skill and inginuity in action.
Don't worry about the noise.
Try to sweep the resting place of the former manure spreader with a metal detector, to try find the missing peace… or maybe your friend whom is restoring also has a example (or spare…)
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but I daresay it's folks like you who are keeping the spirit of the old West alive in America! A pleasure, as always!
Good Job, I could have used you as a Tool & Die maker with your ability to see ten steps ahead!
You looked really happy with how pilfering that part worked out. You should be. Well done!!
Marvelous, and it looks convincing as well.
You are a master craftsman ,Thanks for sharing, Dave
Thank you for teaching how to adapt parts for needs.
That plow bolt predates the newer plow bolts with the square, I've been in the plow parts business all my life.
If he is just going use it as a decoration ok the way you are doing it . If they were going to use it more work definitely needed ?
Better than new.
That's a very nice fix.
Nice retrofit, and something that would have been done back in the day.
Very interesting demonstration.
Everything takes longer than you think, and nothing is as easy as it looks.
The Calvin Coolidge homesite museum has an intact manure spreader. Not sure it's the same manufacturer.
You are close to Laurel? My Great uncle lived there I have been up there as a kid. That’s been long ago in 60s!,,I would like to go up there sometime and visit cemetery where he’s laid to rest. I live in Kansas. Really enjoy the channel….
I agree with chuck. And It is better to see cattle finding a scratching post and getting the itch worked over with wrenches and a blowtorch. Thanks fer the scratch Dave, fine video
I ask you a while back about putting brakes on a forage wagon. I'm thinking scrub brakes might work. (I think that's what they're called) It would be brakes that push a block against the tires for stopping. Like they had on things years ago. Do you know how a person could do them? I figure they would only be needed on an extreme downhill and for parking. Any ideas? Thank you
The best part of this video was to see the satisfaction that you derived from your re-purposing skills. There's nothing like a job well done, so well done Dave.
Genius!!
Well done 👍👌❤️
AMAZING I found the colorization and pattern on the face of the brown cow to be interesting. Keep up the good work.
Well, You have fixed that piece. But what does it actually do?
Never cease t amaze. Ingenuity is still alive
GOOD JOB 👏
Thanks for letting us be part of this restoration! It is truly fascinating what technical understanding and imagination can create! Bravo!
Good looking cattle. Nice fabrication too.
That was simply beautiful. Those keyed bolts were very clever, would they have been castings?
awesome work
Ottimo lavoro ma io avrei optato per l'originale rifatto.
I do hope this beautiful machine is going to a museum where it is being pampered instead of getting dirty from manure to test it.
It will
Whatever it takes for the greater good.
