i wonder if there's a dell OS install disk of vista that has more updated drivers or a generic dell drivers somewhere and ahci drivers. dell sometimes has drivers for stuff that shouldn't exist.

Steam is possible, but, you can't download anything. I recently build a Vista pc based on actually supported hardware, (but i was not aware of the newer nvidia driver). my build GA-x79-ud3 + i7 4960x + 32GB ddr3-2400 and gtx 980-ti (this will be swapped with 1080 now, thanks for the hint) This build works perfectly since there is official drivers for everything. Edit: just happend to find 368.81-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql

What do you mean Win 1 - 11? THERE IS NO WINDOWS 1! The first windows, I do not remember what it was but it was the Windows earlier than Win 3.1. Now Microsoft's first operating system was not Windows but D.O.S Disk Operating System in the 80's! After 3.1 There came Windows NT then 95, 98, 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP then XP got the Win XP x64 then from this point up to Win 8.1 the Windows got an x86 32-Bit & x64 64-Bit version, After XP we got Win Vista and its different versions home, student, Enterprise, Professional Same goes to Win 7 after Vista then it got the version like the Vista did and got Win 7 Ultimate, Win 8 and 8.1 the one with the Start Button then Win 10 starting like Vista it got all those versions except the Ultimate Version then it got the latest update rather than calling it service pack the Win 10 22H2 and now Windows 11 and the latest update 24H2.

I love using Win 7, my laptop is win 7 Enterprise. HP. I prefer to use it over win 10 and win 11 which is what another laptop and my desktop run on. It's still lightning fast on my HP laptop and as I have already stated, it's my favourite one to use. Yeah, it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles like win 10 and 11, but it's been my preferred computer to use for a number of years now. @skp8431, the speed of my laptop is still very fast (probably because I look after it) it's my preferred one to use. The desktops I use are as far as I'm concerned is only used because it's the current system used by most. My win 7 Enterprise is still as fast as win 10 and 11. Nobody will ever be able to convince me some of the older systems are obsolete. Not Win 7 anyway. I learned coding and programming in '82 and I think I will always like win 7 before the later versions. I'm 68 years of age, maybe it's just me.

You would be able to install modern nvidia drivers if you change windows version in Setup Information (.inf) files. Go to C:>NVIDIA>DisplayDriver>Win>International>Display.Driver
